Seriously...does it really matter who our next coach is?

The difference between WSU 2022 and WSU 2023 was Miles Rice. He was the difference between being the bottom of the conference and the top of the conference.

Smith had a great talent for spotting bigs. Efe, Jackson, and others use to post up and meanwhile the guards Smith got like Bonton, Roberts, and Flowers would dribble dribble dribble then jack up a shot. Smith finally hot on chemistry. Rice was gone the moment Smith left. Then our second best player exhausted his eligibility.

So what Logie turned us down, or Shaw wasn't retained. The next two years are going to be a nightmare.

Even when we had Smith, our attendance sucked. So really, we suck a little worse than we have in 2020 to 2023. The bus already went over the cliff, the next coach is a sacrificial lamb. No more, no less.

On the flip side, Brand X says the coffers for Basketball NIL are practically overflowing.

Dr. Schultz has $250M "war chest" to maintain athletic success while he decides WSU's conference future. Why not wait and see what happens once his coach is in place?

Remember, nobody thought CKS could have WSU in the second-round of March Madness after the NBA draft and transfer portal exits last spring. But look what happened.

It might be way too early to write off next season or the next coach who's still TBA

Brand x is wrong unless you consider a mil overflowing.

Coaches and players hate uncertainty. You were just told by MSU coach thanks but no thanks . Is it a huge loss? Nope... means another coach is a better fit .

The point was we dont support our program until it is too late . And if we get our fiurtb choice in coaches is it really the end of the world?

Brand x is not saying the money is overflowing. They have said that the basketball program has more money than it has had in forever. It is the subscribers that are acting like the money is overflowing.

Yes, the coaching hire does matter. However, none of us know if any of these coaches will be successful or not. In a way, it is a crapshoot. Heck, I remember when the uw hired Mike Hopkins. There were a lot of people that thought he was going to awaken a sleeping giant. Then after his first two years winning P12 coach of the year both years, people were ready to build him a statue. We all know the rest of the story.

Falling interest in basketball, falling enrollment, no true conference affiliation, abandonment by our peers + $250,000,000 in debt.

When is the right time to face reality and begin charting a new course?

We don't have $250M. We have half of (I think?) $220M. I need to go re-read the recap from another thread. Unless OSU jumps on July 1, then we get theirs.

And yes, let's wait. It's working out so well so far......
