Sheldon Goldman 6'10 PF recruit

Like other posters, I thought Goldman would be a good pickup as well. He may take a year or two to develop physically, but the skillset is there, especially for a big. I don't like this move by Kent, I think he's desperate for immediate help. As a fan, I'm okay with Kent starting fresh with some youth and building the program up with some high school kids like Goldman. It may take a couple years like the Bennets, but I'm okay with that. I'm trying to keep some faith in Kent, but he's making it hard for me.

He's in his 60s. How much time does he have left either way?

He's got a revolving five years. If after that miserable season you get an extension why would you think if he went 0-18 he would be fired. Did the buyout go down or
something?

EK is possibly the worst recruiter in years at WSU.

Kent was thrown into a bad situation. He tried to fill the gaps with juco players who did not work out. I m hoping that the next two recruited players are quality players. I like the freshmen he is bringing in and they give hope for the future. I thought that Goldman would fit in but Kent decided against giving him a schlorship. Let s see whom he brings in at this late date.

The advantage of waiting until fall is that there are more to pick from. Spring signings rarely work out well. And the later in spring you go the worse it gets. There may be a Shamon Antrum out there but I doubt it. I hate to be this pessimistic but I don't see what difference it makes whether he signs someone this spring or carries those scholarships over to next year's recruiting class. As far as I can tell they don't seem to be in on anyone for the fall either.

That one year extension Moos gave Ernie made no sense and, in fact, reinforces the notion that Moos simply hired his buddy out of convenience rather than do a diligent search for a head coach following Bone. Where else in America would a school reward a 1-17 conference record (with a bunch of non-competitive losses & player defections) by giving the coach an extra year? Not only that, there are no staff changes after a season like that. Ernie is retaining an underachieving and aging bunch of assistants despite the results. Moos & Kent need to be held accountable for the state of the basketball program and that does not include rewarding a disastrous year. I'd like to think there will be some urgency to improve the program this upcoming season and if that doesn't happen there will be some serious thought about appropriate action...which, at the least, should not be an automatic one-year extension on Kent's contract again.

Well football has been "fixed" . Perhaps Moos s faith in Kent will pay dividends in the coming two seasons?

From Kent's interview on the other site, glad to see that he is seriously contemplating holding on to the two available scholarships. It's increasingly unlikely that anyone is out there right now who can truly help the program this coming fall or beyond. It's the 2017 class that the staff needs to concentrate on, IMO.
