So it’s looking like

It's a shot to their egos, no doubt, but they may have backed into a really good choice. Time will tell.

Their delusional fan base will hate the hire, but he'll be good for their offense. Question will be like with Dickert, if he can build a staff to recruit there. I don't know. With Riley now at SC and Oregon on a mission, UW is really far behind in the recruiting game.

I believe in the coaching side it’s a fine hire. It’s just not the name and splash they wanted. Recruiting is very important for every Pac school, and his name might not pull weight yet.

Not doubting your sources but neither the Seattle Times or ESPN have announced this yet. Maybe they will soon.

Great offensive coach! Good hire but was expecting Matt. Campbell to the Huskies! USC and Washington have upgraded in the coaching department! In the case of USC they can now compete for championships and on the recruiting trail.

If it's DeBoer, that sets up an interesting future Apple Cup rivalry. Both Dickert and DeBoer spent considerable time coaching in South Dakota. The difference is DeBoer was an extremely successful head coach at University of Sioux Falls. Dickert was an assistant at cross-town rival Augustana as well as University of South Dakota & South Dakota State. DeBoer is 9 years older so they never actually faced each other. But what would be the odds that both UW and WSU would hire head coaches who honed their craft in South Dakota? Unfortunately, I think DeBoer will do a real good job for the Huskies. Man, I wish they had simply kept Jimmy.

I think the Ducks were getting used to the idea there would be little challenge to their privileged place on top of the conference. The recent hires, especially the one at USC, will make it a lot harder for them to maintain their lofty position.

LSU may be looking at Oregons head coach now that some of the other coaches have had contract extensions or decided to go elsewhere. Should be interesting.

My thoughts too. The guy certainly looks like a good coach. uw (and the Tyees) learning they're far from the prettiest girl at school will be a shock to the ego.

Quote from one of the mutt boards...
"Being a fan of this school is like having meth heads for parents and still hoping you get an XBOX for Christmas"

Made me laugh... so true.

Most of the unrealistic Tyee fans are still stuck in the late 80's early 90's thinking they are a top 10 program every year. I heard it "Jen is going to spend money look out" well this is not the hire that they envisioned. Unfortunately most of them are too old realize that was 30-35 years ago James coached his last game 29 years ago. I think DeBoer is a good hire, he can hit the transfer portal and turn that UW team around quickly, unfortunately. He did lose to Hawaii, which is hard to understand, and to Boise state along with the Ducks this year. And didn't win his division, so time will tell. If you want to get under a UW fan's skin, just tell them BeBoer was high on our list, but we passed and went with Dickert.

Even though the uw nation thought that the were a perennial top 10 program under James, they weren't. They had an outstanding run to end James career by cheating. But, they had a few outstanding years, with mostly mediocrity in between.

Don James was simply Richard Nixon (minus the Watergate baggage) to Jim Owens' Bull Connor.

Nixon was a cold, cunning personality but provided competence.

Lambright was just a meat head.

Fortunately all 3 plus Slick Rick were around to see 0-12
