one ESPN bowl predictor has us playing Michigan in the Fiesta and the other has us playing West Virginia in the Alamo bowl. Two months ago we would have all said wow that's great at either of those. I think it will be the Fiesta. I don't know why the Fiesta Bowl would rather have a 3 loss LSU than us. Hopefully we can avenge the 98 Rose Bowl loss.

I am thinking the Peach bowl takes LSU.

I said earlier I would love to play Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl.

It's important to remember that the CFP, ESPN and the bowls are all going to work together to determine what they feel is the best balance of teams across the NY6 bowls and other "premier" bowl games. ESPN needs to make money on the deals by maximizing viewership, the bowls want compelling matchups that will draw fans and the CFP wants to make sure that they get what they think are the best four teams in the playoff.

If the group decides that a Fiesta Bowl or Peach Bowl featuring WSU is going to get good ratings and draw fans, we will go to one of those games. If they think that 3 loss LSU, Penn State and Florida are better choices....we could get screwed. We are fortunate that we have a compelling coach in Leach, a great story in Minshew and a 10-2 Power 5 team that exceeded expectations for virtually the entire season. A lot of folks would like to see us playing LSU in the Peach Bowl, Michigan or UCF in the Fiesta Bowl and the Alamo Bowl is a great fallback position.

Leach and Minshew are national stories. It's an easy pitch.

You give the powers that be waaaaaay too much credit.

Which team will be going where will be 100% predicated on $$$. Fans in seats is a consideration, but only as far as how they can maximize the money being made off the TV deals.

The biggest thing we have going for us that that the nation thinks the P12 is weak and we are a patsie for a B12, B10, or SEC team which will draw THEIR viewers and fans to the games.

Maybe we just said the same thing?

We're rooting for Memphis, Oklahoma, tOSU, Clemson and Alabama.

We want separation in the field of potential NY6 at large teams. The loser of Bama and Georgia will still be ranked ahead of us. If Clemson loses, they'll still be ranked ahead of us. tOSU and/or Oklahoma losing would be bad for us; both would likely get an at large berth. UCF's QB is out and if they lose, they'll drop like a rock.

I would LOVE to play Michigan. Not only a "rematch" game, but very winnable IMO. WSU is nationally ignored, the Apple Cup "confirmed" that everybody made the right decision to ignore us all season, Michigan will feel playing us is yet another letdown on the season, and hell hath no fury like Minshew & Pelluer in their final college sendoff / NFL audition.

People here - because of history, partially - get way too hung up on the particular bowl. I strongly feel nobody remembers the particular bowl but they'll remember the matchup. That 5-star WR from the Class of 2025 will remember WSU and their exciting offense shocking the nation by putting the hurt on Big Name School X long after he recalls whether it was the Peach, Fiesta, Alamo, whatever.

Michigan fans were AHoles at the Rose Bowl too so would be fun to beat them. To me they are similar to UW in terms of the entitled elitist attitude, albeit Big Blue has earned it more.

I've met some, and met many Spartans who tell me precisely the same thing. Not only are there a lot of Jack-Wolverines, but there is a recognition that football is or was a big deal there and so students/locals feel compelled to pimp out the team even when they know nothing about it. Seen a lot of that through colleagues as I've always worked at bigger companies sourcing people from around the country.

Worded differently, but thinking the same thing. It's all about TV ratings and butts in the seats.....TV ratings being more important most likely.

Cougs will provide a much more interesting story than almost any of the other possible teams to the Fiesta (maybe not UCF but they just lost their QB). A good story will drive the TV audience.
