Sounds like Cal and Stanford aren't getting an invite

Trash? Seriously? Strong words.
Sorry VH, forgot you frequent the board…no offense. Maybe trash wasn’t the right word, but non-competitive (in football) certainly. And we are no longer at a small sample size, been several years now.

FWIW I hate it. I used to be a big Nebraska fan as a kid, always loved the wishbone triple option. Nebraska Oklahoma games were must see TV. I want to see them back and they’ve been one of the more perplexing programs to watch fall because they were so dominant for so long. But it’s just weird seeing them in the Big 10…just doesn’t fit right.

Thank you.

I understand - at times I long for the Big 8 days but those are long gone. My Bay-Area born spouse still talks about the Pac 8 and the significance of the Rose Bowl game as well. But at this point it seems like $$ is the only thing that's important and so the traditional conferences are no more.

Agree. My sense is Phil Knight is against it, namely for Oregon. (edit, report was nothing but smokescreen by UW and Oregon).

IF Phil is against going to Big 10, then that would semi stabilize things, put PAC BACK on LIFE SUPPORT.

BUT, IF Arizona goes to Big 12, with ASU or 1 other team, AND COMBINED with ONLY a 13 to 15 to 17 mil per team deal(have to believe that the reported 19.7 mil per team deal would go down even further if Arizona leaves), then EVENTUALLY Oregon and UW, would go to Big 10, as 13 mil per team is MTN West level, and Oregon won't take, stand for only MTN West level money.

The only way I see Oregon, UW staying, is

The PAC either

A. Expands the PAC 9 with SDSU, SMU, UNLV, Memphis, Tulane, CSU, Rice to become the PAC 16 and add either the top best remaining most competitive an or academic an or biggest metros an or biggest TV viewership, an or HOT recruiting beds, an or expand geographical PAC FOOTPRINT for better TV viewership, etc, left among, out of the Group of 5, midmajors in the entire nation. They are best of best options, regardless of Geography.

And then do ACC Alliance. And then do about a 23 to 25 to 27 to 29 mil per team deal.

B. The PAC expands but doesn't do ACC alliance, and gets a 20 to 24 mil per team deal

C. Gets a very short term deal for 1,2,3 years, worth 13 mil to 16 mil to 19 mil per team, then Expands then ACC alliance, then get new replacement deal worth 25 to 27 to 29 to 31 mil per team deal.

D. Same as C, except doesn't do ACC alliance, and media deal 22 to 24 to 26 to 28 mil per team

AND COMBINED with either Arizona only going and ASU staying, an .or Nobody else going

IF it's only WSU, Ore St that goto Big 12, then PAC can still stay together. If Arizona go, then PAC might or might not stay together if do above things. If 2 more go, unless it's WSU, Ore St, the PAC dies, even if the above done in Expanding, ACC alliance, Media deal, etc.

If the PAC 9,8 do the right things, Oregon, UW can stay, the PAC can stay together, and the ship can maybe be righted.

The problem is the PAC leadership won't do the right things.

Basically the only thing that's going to maybe save the PAC is if Phil Knight BULLIES PAC leadership to put him in charge, and work everything out.

LINCOLN — UCLA and USC should have West Coast company when they officially join the Big Ten.
A league source confirmed the Big Ten Council of Presidents and Chancellors met Friday to discuss adding Oregon and Washington — fleeing from a crumbling Pac-12 — to the league.
The two schools must express a desire to apply for membership, then receive an approval vote from the Big Ten COP/C to join. The source said the "timing is unclear" as to just when the vote happens — be it Friday or another day — but the intent is obvious.

The Big Ten is likely to go from 16 to 18 teams, with the Ducks and Huskies joining UCLA and USC as far-west members of a coast-to-coast league.

Yahoo Sports reported that the league "re-engaged" the two schools Friday morning and Oregon's officials told the Pac-12 it intended to apply for membership. ESPN reported that Oregon and Washington will join in 2024 alongside UCLA and USC. The “flex protect plus” scheduling model, ESPN, will be modified without sacrificing protected games, although it’s clear some current league teams will draw the new duo in 2024 and 2025.

BIG 10 Network has just interrupted their programing with the news.
Just an FYI,

Pete Thamel, ESPN, has tweets out that say the Big10 approved the invitations for OR and WA. He also has a tweet out saying that Utah and ASU have officially submitted their applications to the Big12. The Big12 will be having a conference call to vote on accepting those applications today.

Sorry, I posted while watching BIG10 network but didn't have a link when I first posted.

That is not a OFFICIAL SOURCE ANNOUNCEMENT.

Like I said, Oregon, UW EXTREMELY LIKELY to go, as per rumor, unconfirmed, unofficial sources.

But there's nothing OFFICIAL YET.

Pretty credible source. Arizona, Utah, ASU gone, in addition to Oregon, UW.

PAC is DEAD.

This announcement is from the official Big 10 conference site. I'm currently watching coverage of this news on the Big 10 Network (channel 410 on Dish). I'm not sure how much more "official" it can get.
