I really like the hire. The hire is between a above average, good, semi great hire.
1. If you saw the Montana State vs South Dakotah state game(I did), His coaching vs Vigen was very good.
A. The TV announcers said that South Dakotah State had 1 4, FOUR star on the team, and that the team had about 10, TEN ALL AMERICANS ON TEAM, and that between Montana St, and South Dakotah St, there was about 20 ALL AMERICANS. The TV announcers said that he was a GREAT recruiter.
2. His QB won the Walter Payton Award. 1 of his WR's is the best WR in FCS. Both have 1 year of eligibility. The WR entered Transfer portal with a Do NOT contact tag. Both might semi probably transfer to WSU.
3. Counting this season, Jim Roger's has made the playoffs, an or NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, 2 times as HC, 1 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AS A DC, LB ASSISTANT COACH, 1 playoff as a GA, LB, assistant coach.
4. His staff at South Dakotah State is EPICALLY, AWESOMELY GREAT, GOOD. This is not a EWU like, Paul Wulf like staff. As has been said before in other threads. EWU, barely squeeked by, into playoffs, barely squeeked by, upset non NDSU, non South Dakotah State teams that upset the tougher playoff teams. So Jim Roger's bringing his OC, DC, some to most to almost all of his coaching staff is a good thing. Not all FCS coaches, and Staffs are Paul Wulfs, Sears, etc. And WSU needs to fill out a coaching staff as soon as possible, instead of doing a long, exhaustive hiring search for new coaching staff, because by bring his coaching staff, that brings some emergency stability, and can, semi probably will help some of the WSU players in Portal to come back to WSU, and help to get all those ALL AMERICAN STUDS AT South Dakotah St TO TRANSFER TO WSU, and to help recruit transfer portal players from FCS, G5, P4, P5, and to help recruit JC transfers, etc.
5. A lot of experts, pundits, etc, have said, reported that sources have said that Jim Roger's knows WSU, has connections with, to WSU, has semi west coast connections, recruiting ties, coaching ties, ties to players, recruits, etc, and that Jim Roger's is familiar with WSU's challenges, and is familiar with, knows how to win at WSU, Pullman, because South Dakotah St, is a small college town FCS college, and that since has recruited awesomely to the barren, deserted, middle of nowhere, ice, snow cold, -50 degree South Dakotah, then can recruit to WSU, Pullman.
6. WSU signed him to a 5 year, about 2 mil per year on average, with bonuses, and probably about a 4 mil to 7 mil to 10 mil buy out that probably decreases the buy out by about 1 mil per year.
7. Even if he is very successful his first year, he will probably get a contract extension, and a slight pay raise to 2.25 mil to 2.5 mil to 2.75 mil per year, plus bonuses, combined with the 4 mil to 7 mil to 10 mil buy out, combined with being very successful at WSU, if very successful at WSU his first season, he would probably stay at WSU for at least 1.2,3 seasons before leaving WSU. Which means that Jim Roger's semi might semi probably semi provide some semi stability, and at least get WSU through to 2026-2027, when PAC 8/9/12/13/X has media deal, 8th football member, etc.
8. Jim Roger's has INSTANT AWESOME CREDIBILITY with recruits, players. Players, Recruits, even semi top recruits, players, transfer portal, know his name, his credibility, etc.
9. Vigen, Bobby Hauck, might have turned down a HC offer from WSU. WSU, AD was looking seriously at Vigen, and there was a lot of rumors that WSU might hire Vigen. So with that in Mind, if Vigen, Bobby Hauck turned down WSU, then WSU was lucky to get Jim Roger's.
10. Jim Roger's is a way the hell better FCS hire then how usually WSU usually hires Wyoming, Hawaii, Weber State(either FCS, or lowest G5 level), U of Idaho HC's, and how WSU promotes interim HC's like Dickert, and how WSU hires G5 assistant coaches like DC's, OC's, etc, as HC's. Now some of those worked out. Some didn't work out. But hiring those type of hires is usually not supposed to be good, and usually a Jim Rogers type hire is usually a hell lot better then those other types of hires
11. All the EXPERTS, PUNDITS, SPORTS MEDIA, ESPN, SI, ETC, THINK THAT THE JIM ROGERS HIRE IS A EXTREMELY GOOD HIRE, LIKE THE HIRE, ETC.
12. There were better possible hires like Vigen, Bobby Hauck, Jamarcus Shephard, Moore, David Shaw, Dana Holgorsen, etc, but despite that, this is still a pretty good hire hiring Jim Roger's.
13. Its extremely probably NOT a Paul Wulf type of bad hire, and probably not a bad hire, and probably better then a meh, just ok, mediocre, average hire
14. I thought that there was a chance that Vigen, Bobby Hauck, NDSU HC, Jim Roger's, etc, might all have said no, turn down a HC offer from WSU. So WSU is extremely lucky, that it has hired Jim Roger's.
15. Jim Roger's is probably going to be the football version of David Riley(not saying he will have Riley's first year success. But Jim Roger's will probably be like, similar to David Riley type of hire.)
16. So no, Jim Roger's is extremely probably not the Paul Wulf, bad, average, etc, some of you are making him out to be.
