Sounds like it’s Jimmy Rogers.

Hah! Can't see how Wulff's staff could have been any less prepared than these guys.

Have you seen his "whole" staff? His DC was a grad asst. at WSU in 20-21. At least his recruiting territory is California - whoops typo! - I meant Eastern Illinois/Chicago.

Feast your eyes below (scroll past all the players who are NOT from the West Coast. Except 1).

add have you?

You realize that you contradicted yourself, right?

And a pox on you for your age bias. Is 60 over the hill? Should I just call you Gibby now? Oh he's too old". He's 60.
Nah, I really didn't contradict myself. They all leave one way (another gig, fired) or another (retire). The point is leaving is not the criteria I think we should focus on.

I also didn't say 60 is too old. Kami's 60 and I hope this is her last job. I said I prefer younger in this case given the demands of the job. That's all things being relatively equal. I wouldn't prefer a 37 year-old Paul Wulff type coach over literally any other coach.

Sounds good to me. Let’s Go!

In his first season as a head coach, Rogers led the Jackrabbits to their second consecutive Football Championship Subdivision national title and finished the 2023 campaign with a perfect 15-0 record. SDSU held the top spot in both major FCS polls throughout the 2023 season and carried a 29-game winning streak — the third-longest winning streak in subdivision history — into his second season. He became the second SDSU head coach in as many years to be honored with the Eddie Robinson Award as the top FCS coach, joining his mentor, John Stiegelmeier, in 2022.

SDSU led the FCS ranks 10 different statistical categories on both sides of the ball in 2023, most notably scoring defense (9.3 points per game), total defense (257.2 yards per game), team passing efficiency (174.26) and third-down conversion percentage (.535). The Jackrabbits raised their level of play during their four-game postseason run, outscoring the opposition by a combined 146-15, including posting a pair of shutouts.

Six members of the 2023 team were honored on All-America teams, including Walter Payton Award winner Mark Gronowski at quarterback. In addition, a total of eight players were either drafted or signed free agent NFL contracts.

Rogers also played an integral role in the Jackrabbits winning their first national title in football during the 2022 season by directing a defense that led the Football Championship Subdivision in rushing defense by allowing only 88.1 yards per game on the ground. SDSU tied for the FCS lead with 18 interceptions and also ranked second in total defense (274.1 yards per game), third in scoring defense (15.8 points per game) and fourth in turnovers gained (26).

The reason Dickert had so much problem retaining staff is because none of them were his staff. At some point turning over guys every 1-2 years is a huge problem. I can understand why guys don’t want to break up their staffs just to satisfy fans. I also get the concerns. I’d like to see how it turns out to not have your OC and DC leave every year, and skill position coaches every other.

I really like the hire. The hire is between a above average, good, semi great hire.

1. If you saw the Montana State vs South Dakotah state game(I did), His coaching vs Vigen was very good.

A. The TV announcers said that South Dakotah State had 1 4, FOUR star on the team, and that the team had about 10, TEN ALL AMERICANS ON TEAM, and that between Montana St, and South Dakotah St, there was about 20 ALL AMERICANS. The TV announcers said that he was a GREAT recruiter.

2. His QB won the Walter Payton Award. 1 of his WR's is the best WR in FCS. Both have 1 year of eligibility. The WR entered Transfer portal with a Do NOT contact tag. Both might semi probably transfer to WSU.

3. Counting this season, Jim Roger's has made the playoffs, an or NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, 2 times as HC, 1 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AS A DC, LB ASSISTANT COACH, 1 playoff as a GA, LB, assistant coach.

4. His staff at South Dakotah State is EPICALLY, AWESOMELY GREAT, GOOD. This is not a EWU like, Paul Wulf like staff. As has been said before in other threads. EWU, barely squeeked by, into playoffs, barely squeeked by, upset non NDSU, non South Dakotah State teams that upset the tougher playoff teams. So Jim Roger's bringing his OC, DC, some to most to almost all of his coaching staff is a good thing. Not all FCS coaches, and Staffs are Paul Wulfs, Sears, etc. And WSU needs to fill out a coaching staff as soon as possible, instead of doing a long, exhaustive hiring search for new coaching staff, because by bring his coaching staff, that brings some emergency stability, and can, semi probably will help some of the WSU players in Portal to come back to WSU, and help to get all those ALL AMERICAN STUDS AT South Dakotah St TO TRANSFER TO WSU, and to help recruit transfer portal players from FCS, G5, P4, P5, and to help recruit JC transfers, etc.

5. A lot of experts, pundits, etc, have said, reported that sources have said that Jim Roger's knows WSU, has connections with, to WSU, has semi west coast connections, recruiting ties, coaching ties, ties to players, recruits, etc, and that Jim Roger's is familiar with WSU's challenges, and is familiar with, knows how to win at WSU, Pullman, because South Dakotah St, is a small college town FCS college, and that since has recruited awesomely to the barren, deserted, middle of nowhere, ice, snow cold, -50 degree South Dakotah, then can recruit to WSU, Pullman.

6. WSU signed him to a 5 year, about 2 mil per year on average, with bonuses, and probably about a 4 mil to 7 mil to 10 mil buy out that probably decreases the buy out by about 1 mil per year.

7. Even if he is very successful his first year, he will probably get a contract extension, and a slight pay raise to 2.25 mil to 2.5 mil to 2.75 mil per year, plus bonuses, combined with the 4 mil to 7 mil to 10 mil buy out, combined with being very successful at WSU, if very successful at WSU his first season, he would probably stay at WSU for at least 1.2,3 seasons before leaving WSU. Which means that Jim Roger's semi might semi probably semi provide some semi stability, and at least get WSU through to 2026-2027, when PAC 8/9/12/13/X has media deal, 8th football member, etc.

8. Jim Roger's has INSTANT AWESOME CREDIBILITY with recruits, players. Players, Recruits, even semi top recruits, players, transfer portal, know his name, his credibility, etc.

9. Vigen, Bobby Hauck, might have turned down a HC offer from WSU. WSU, AD was looking seriously at Vigen, and there was a lot of rumors that WSU might hire Vigen. So with that in Mind, if Vigen, Bobby Hauck turned down WSU, then WSU was lucky to get Jim Roger's.

10. Jim Roger's is a way the hell better FCS hire then how usually WSU usually hires Wyoming, Hawaii, Weber State(either FCS, or lowest G5 level), U of Idaho HC's, and how WSU promotes interim HC's like Dickert, and how WSU hires G5 assistant coaches like DC's, OC's, etc, as HC's. Now some of those worked out. Some didn't work out. But hiring those type of hires is usually not supposed to be good, and usually a Jim Rogers type hire is usually a hell lot better then those other types of hires

11. All the EXPERTS, PUNDITS, SPORTS MEDIA, ESPN, SI, ETC, THINK THAT THE JIM ROGERS HIRE IS A EXTREMELY GOOD HIRE, LIKE THE HIRE, ETC.

12. There were better possible hires like Vigen, Bobby Hauck, Jamarcus Shephard, Moore, David Shaw, Dana Holgorsen, etc, but despite that, this is still a pretty good hire hiring Jim Roger's.

13. Its extremely probably NOT a Paul Wulf type of bad hire, and probably not a bad hire, and probably better then a meh, just ok, mediocre, average hire

14. I thought that there was a chance that Vigen, Bobby Hauck, NDSU HC, Jim Roger's, etc, might all have said no, turn down a HC offer from WSU. So WSU is extremely lucky, that it has hired Jim Roger's.

15. Jim Roger's is probably going to be the football version of David Riley(not saying he will have Riley's first year success. But Jim Roger's will probably be like, similar to David Riley type of hire.)

16. So no, Jim Roger's is extremely probably not the Paul Wulf, bad, average, etc, some of you are making him out to be.

OMG. What West Coast connections? There is ONE West Coast player on the roster (he's from Washington). You are completely making this shit up.

6. WSU signed him to a 5 year, about 2 mil per year on average, with bonuses, and probably about a 4 mil to 7 mil to 10 mil buy out that probably decreases the buy out by about 1 mil per year. Contrary to multiple media reports.....

"to" 2026-2027 is ONE year. But I think you meant through 26-27. TWO years. That is stability?

8. Jim Roger's has INSTANT AWESOME CREDIBILITY with recruits, players. Players, Recruits, even semi top recruits, players, transfer portal, know his name, his credibility, etc. This is completely made up. How many recruits and players did you talk to in the last 12 hours?

9. Vigen, Bobby Hauck, might have turned down a HC offer from WSU. WSU, AD was looking seriously at Vigen, and there was a lot of rumors that WSU might hire Vigen. Loyal: Montana did not play South Dakota State this year.

Mik: Yes they did play Montana St in the Semi Finals of the Playoff. They lost 31-to 17 vs Montana St. Your probably thinking that South Dakotah St did not play Montana St, During the REGULAR SEASON. I watched the play off game on my Direct TV.

2. His QB won the Walter Payton Award. 1 of his WR's is the best WR in FCS. Both have 1 year of eligibility. The WR entered Transfer portal with a Do NOT contact tag. Both might semi probably transfer to WSU.

Loyal: You sure Gronowski has another year left? If so, must be COVID.

Mik: There article, link that I read, that was posted by another poster said that the QB has another year of eligibility, and is deciding whether to either goto NFL or delay NFL and goto WSU, etc.

Mik: No it's not made up. No I haven't talked to recruits. Don't have to talk to recruits to know he is a BIG TIME CREDIBILITY NAME THE SAME WAY THAT DONT HAVE TO TALK TO RECRUITS TO KNOW THAT COACH K, SABAN ARE BIG TIME NAMES, CREDIBLE.

Also LOTS of SPORTS MEDIA, EXPERTS, PUNDITS, ARTICLES, YOU TUBE VIDEOS, INTERNET, SOCIAL MEDIA, TWITTER, ETC, have Jim Roger's as a BIG TIME FCS NAME THAT HAS A LOT OF CREDIBILITY.

Also his awesome results, abilities, credibility, name is ALL OVER, for the reason that if he did not have that name, credibility, reputation, etc, he wouldn't have had the results he has had.

Again I am not making this stuff up. I am just parroting, repeating, and LOGICALLY DERIVING, EXTRAPOLATING, etc. I am not making it up. Not pulling it out of ass. It's actually based on legit stuff.

Dude, It's been all over the internet, social media, Twitter, you tube, sports media, links, and posted, said by some posters here(Yet you didn't go after them), experts, pundits, rumors. etc, that WSU, AD was looking at the following HC's: Vigen, Jamarcus Shephard, Moore, Jim Roger's, Mora. etc.

I have seen, read. heard that stuff. And when I do see, hear, read that kind of stuff, I dont think "I better save and post this link because Loyal will be a dumbass, if I don't save this source, and post this source.

And again you have not gone after the other posters who have said, suggested this, etc.

Loyal: A hell of a lot better than Mike Price and Dennis Erickson? And when did WSU ever hire a UI HC?

So if WSU were to hire the best ever High School coach as Head Coach at WSU. and if that HC was to have Dennis Erickson success, Price Succes as an outlier, then if after that I were to say that hiring Jim Roger's was a way better hire then hiring a Highschool head coach.

That same kind of thing applies to what I said. Erickson, Price, Dickert, etc, were OUTLIERS.

Jim Roger's is better then hiring from the Wyoming, Hawai, Weber St, Idaho, Promoting a interim HC, hiring a assistant, OC, DC, etc, from a G5 to be HC at WSU. Price, and Erickson, Dickert, were outlier, exceptions.

11. All the EXPERTS, PUNDITS, SPORTS MEDIA, ESPN, SI, ETC, THINK THAT THE JIM ROGERS HIRE IS A EXTREMELY GOOD HIRE, LIKE THE HIRE, ETC. Oh they are saying no such thing. I just reread ESPN's article.

Loyal: Oh Mik, not you too? And how do you make all this shit up? I'll try to be gentle.......and do you spell Dakota incorrectly on purpose just to annoy me?

Mik: As I have explained above, I am not making stuff up. I dont have the time to waste making this stuff up. I won't post it unless I have either seen, heard, read it somewhere and or logically extrapolated, derived, based on a source, etc.

Your acting, behaving like a STICKLER, DUMBASS.

11. All the EXPERTS, PUNDITS, SPORTS MEDIA, ESPN, SI, ETC, THINK THAT THE JIM ROGERS HIRE IS A EXTREMELY GOOD HIRE, LIKE THE HIRE, ETC.

Loyal: Oh they are saying no such thing. I just reread ESPN's article.

Mik: I mean ESPN, SI LIKE, TYPE Sports Media, Sports social media, Canzano, Wilner LIKE, TYPES, Bucket, Furness, LIKE, TYPES.

I didn't say, mean SPECIFICALLY, EXACTLY ESPN, SI.

Don't know, remember which ones have said those things. All I do know is that I have seen, heard, read those things being said by experts, pundits, Sports media, whether by radio, podcast, social media, internet, you tube, Twitter. You don't have to watch on satellite, cable TV, ESPN's website for it to be true. This has been all over.

Your being a Dumbass STICKLER, etc.

OMG. What West Coast connections?

Loyal: There is ONE West Coast player on the roster (he's from Washington). You are completely making this shit up.

Mik: No I am not making stuff up. Also did not say West Coast. I said, and meant SEMI West Coast ISH, between, borderline between Semi West Coast ISH, and Semi Midwest ISH, semi western half of USA ish.

Also you don't have to have ACTIVE, CURRENT players, coaches from the west coast, to have Semi west coast ish connections, ties.

All the experts, pundits, sources I have seen, heard, read, etc, say Jim Roger's has connections, ties to coaches, players, recruits in, from the Grwater Semi West coast ish area.

That does not mean that he has players, coaches, recruits from Portland, Seattle, Sacramento, LA, San Fran, San Diego, CA, beaches, etc, on, at South Dakotah.

It means he knows, has connections, ties, that he can tap into in the FUTURE, that are in, from the Semi West coast ish area.

Again your being a Dumbass, Stickler.

4. His staff at South Dakotah State is EPICALLY, AWESOMELY GRESTICKLER.

Loyal: You are F-ing kidding me. Have you read their Bios? Epically Awesome?

Mik: No I havent read Jim Roger's coaching staff bios. I have read Jim Roger's bio.

You don't have to read all of the bios to know that his staff is awesome.

The AWESOME RESULTS, AWESOME RECRUITS, AWESOME STUDS, AWESOME ALL AMERICANS, AWESOME LOTS OF PLAYERS THAT DRAFTED INTO NFL, ETC, is all the proof that is needed to know how awesome his coaching staff is.

And if that is not enough, the experts, pundits, etc, were, are, have been, etc, saying how awesome his coaching staff is.

So read all the bios, is not necessary to know his coaching staff is a awesome coaching staff.

Now you can stop behaving like a Dick, FCKING dumbass, twat, twit, nitpicker, stickler, a hole, etc, Loyal.

6. WSU signed him to a 5 year, about 2 mil per year on average, with bonuses, and probably about a 4 mil to 7 mil to 10 mil buy out that probably decreases the buy out by about 1 mil per year.

Loyal: Contrary to multiple media reports.....

Mik: No not contrary to media reports.

Media reports have been saying that Jim Roger's is going to get ABOUT 1.75 TO ABOUT 2 MIL, and that means some years it be more, some years less, and that each year in contract, the pay goes up, and that that will take pay up to, past 2 mil per year. And there are bonuses. In any case it's CLOSE ENOUGH, NITPICKER, STICKLER.

Mik, your posts are epic!! Like the loyal references. I grew tired of LoyalCoug.com about 6 months ago.

That’s not realistic. I don’t have much opposition to Rogers.

He’s on par (probably a bit better) than any other FCS or FBS level assistant coach we’ve hired over the years. Just saying that is our normal hiring pool.

Hope he keeps Edwards and Kaligis but that is probably unlikely.

Reading between the lines, looks like Kaligis and Edwards are heading elsewhere (Wake) and aren’t looking for jobs.

Two of those are guys Dickert brought in before Schmedding arrived. Kind of interesting that a guy who preaches family uprooted two and then left them behind.

What does “none of them were his staff” mean?

Loyal: Cite one rumor about Vigen, particularly that WSU was looking seriously at him. You on speed dial with Anne McCoy?

Mik: In addition to what I said the last time in response to your drivel:

The Couch GM(A You Tube associate of Pucket, Furness, Brand X(Cougfan), that has done radio, podcast, co articles with Pucket, Furness, Brand X), reported, said on You Tube, that Brand X said, reported that Brent Vigen was, had seriously interviewed for, wanted the WSU HC Job, and that WSU turned him down, and instead hired Jim Roger's.

So I was right that WSU was seriously looking at Brent Vigen, at least until Vigen interviewed for the WSU Job.

I was wrong in thinking that Vigen probably turned down job, and that because of that Jim Roger's was probably second choice behind Vigen.

WSU should have hired Vigen over Jim Roger's, because altho Roger's is a great coach, Vigen is even better then how good Roger's is.

Way to stupidly choose Jim Roger's over Vigen WSU, Schultz, Anne McCoy.

At least you didn't blow the hire, as Jim Roger's is pretty great.

But Vigen has more years, experience as HC , at a more successful Montana St, with better results, staff, players. Vigen has semi way more years, experience as HC at Montana State, then the 2,3 years Roger's had at South Dakotah.

Of course WSU, Schultz, Anne McCoy are not going to get, didn't get, turned down, etc, the best HC candidate that interviewed for, wanted the job.

At least they were just barely smart enough to get Jim Roger's, instead of a worse HC job candidate.
