Theo Lawson is the reporter for WSU athletics from the Spokesman Review, he is in no way shape or from a basketball expert. And again you talk about NBAdraft.com which IS not who predicted his number 8 draft spot in 2023. No other draft site that I can find mentions Gueye at all, nor do they have anything on 2023 draft because it’s three drafts away.
I didn’t make up out of the blue that he shot 15% from 3 point line, I took it directly off his prep schools web site. I truly hope he is absolutely amazing, be happy he is coming to WSU but let him prove himself on the court. It’s crazy to me that you always project NBA careers from every player we sign even before you see them play. Based on what? What some body posts on the internet? A highlight video? Have you ever seen any player miss a shot in those clips? No because they are HIGHLIGHTS! Last year you had AJ as an NBA draft pick now you list him as third string.
There have been 19 WSU bball players who have ever played in the NBA and most of those played less than 50 games and in less than a full year. 19 ever! Not 15-17 to 23-25.....19 period.
I think maybe I figured out your problem. You can’t read! Don’t worry I’m done with you, I’m just going to ignore you like most of the rest of the
Posters. Congrats you’re the second person I’ve blocked had to ignore. You and elcomache, two peas in a pod!
No your the one who cant read, understand, think, etc.
And your the one who should be ignored.
I'll respond with this, so that others can see, and then I'm done responding to you about this.
Part of the reason why WSU has only had 19 players in the NBA, is because:
1. With the exception of Raveling, Tony, etc, WSU hasnt been good enough to recruit NBA PROSPECTS.
WSU, despite what you and others think, is getting better at recruiting NBA PROSPECTS, and putting players into the NBA.
Since about 2006, Tony Bennet there have been a string of WSU players, recruits in NBA:
Klay. Aron Baynes, Weaver, Isabel(Recruited by WSU, left WSU, has played at least minimal minutes, in 1 NBA game, as a NBA BORDERLINE FRINGE PLAYER), IKE Iroegbu played for the Lakers, Franks played for a NBA team, Malachi Flynn(Kent's Recruit), was drafted in the NBA Draft, CJ Elleby drafted, plays for Portland Trail Blazers.
Thats 8 WSU NBA PLAYERS SINCE TONY BENNETS TIME, ABOUT 1 WSU NBA PRO PER ABOUT EVERY 2.3,4 YEARS, SINCE TONY BENNETS TIME.
Also there have been past WSU players who were SNUBBED by the NBA, and probably shoukd have played in the NBA:
Seltzer, Terrence Lewis, Ike Fontaine(If he hadnt gotten injured, he probably would have), Hendricksen(If he hadnt been drafted by MLB baseball he probably would have played in NBA)
Next the NBA is easier to get to play for, then in the past. There are more NBA Teams. There are more ways, paths to the NBA:
There is the EXPANDED NBA Draft. There is signing as a undrafted free agent. There is the CBA, NBA G Development LEAGUE, There is overseas PAID PRO BALL, etc.
Because of all of the above its easier now, more then ever for a WSU player to play in the NBA.
But thats just 1 point. That assumes I am saying that EVERY WSU recruit is a NBA PLAYER.
You EXXAGGERATE, misrepresent what I say, have said like you always do.
I did project Isabell as a NBA prospect. I also correctly said that Ike Ireogbu was a NBA Prospect(Played for Lakers).
I did NOT project Elleby as a NBA Prospect. He was a 3.5 star, that at the time he came out of HS didnt look like, didnt seem like a NBA Prospect, and wasnt rated as such by any so called experts.
I named Noah a NBA Prospect, and it looks like he will pan out, and make it too the NBA. I do not know if Flowers is a NBA Prospect, so I did not name him a NBA Prospect. I did not name Kim a NBA Prospect. I did name Dischon Jackson, Efe, AJ as NBA Prospects, I did not name Rosario, Bamba as NBA Prospects, Did not name Rice, Tyrell Roberts NBA Prospects. So you exxaggerate, about me naming every WSU recruit a NBA Prospect. Also didnt name DJ Rodman, and Rapp as NBA Prospects.
Now that thats covered, lets cover terms like NBA Prospects, and what makes a Prospect a Prospect, and why I named the Prospects I did name as Prospects, as Prospects.
First there are Terms like:
UPSIDE, CEILING, POTENTIAL, PROSPECT.
When I name a NBA Prospect a Prospect it because:
1. I think they have the Athleticism, UPSIDE, CEILING, POTENTIAL, to maybe play in the NBA. Tjat does not mean that they will PAN OUT, AND actually play in the NBA. Some will, some wont.
2. Comparisons to WSU players who have made the NBA.
3. Rankings.
Altho not all 4.5 star players make the NBA, some do, some dont, and a lot more do make the NBA more then 2 stars, 3 stars, etc.
Now I havent named every WSU a 4 star a NBA Prospects. But I have named some to lots to most as NBA Prospects(Not just because tbey were 4 stars), because whenever WSU gets a 4.5 star recruit, there is about a at least 50% chance that they will play in the the NBA someday. At least thats whats happened in past, as about at least 50% of WSU's 4.5 star Recruits have played in the NBA.
Now that thats been covered, lets cover why specific players were named by me as NBA PROSPECTS.
NOAH: Noah was a 3.5 star Prospect. He has NBA BLOODLINES. He has athleticism. Great Talent,GREAT STATS. And coming out of HS, he was, and is still further along then CJ was when CJ came out of HS. He is farther along then KLAY was when Klay is where Noah is now. Noah has also put up the HIGHEST STATS in WSU History against Pac 10, Pac 12 opponents(Guys 43 was against Idaho St. Noah has NBA size, body, frame, etc.
Dischon Jackson highest rated big man in WSU history since Stuart House, BEFORE GUEYE. Extremely athletic, NBA Athleticism, great stats, compares well to Aron Baynes, James Donaldson, who played in NBA. High Upside,Ceiling, POTENTIAL.
EFE: is SHAWN KEMP, JORDAN ATHLETICISM, JUMPING ABILITY, 3.5 star rating, played for the NBA GLOBAL ACADEMY that puts players in the NBA. NBA PLAYER WHO WAS HIS COACH AT THE NBA GLOBAL ACADEMY, SAID THAT EFE IS A NBA PROSPECT. EFE IS COMPARABLE TO ARON BAYNES. JAMES DONALDSON, PAST WSU NBA BIG MEN.
AJ: Rated 4.5 stars. Highest rated WSU big man, player, since Stuart House, Klay, Dischon, BEFORE Gueye, TURNED DOWN A PAID PRO CONTRACT. PLAYED FOR THE AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE OF SPORT, NBA GLOBAL ACADEMY, NATIONAL TEAM, etc. Great Stats, comparable to past WSU NBA players like CRAIG EHLO.
All the above named by me NBA PROSPECTS, have EXTREME UPSIDE, CEILING, POTENTIAL.
But be that as it is, that is no Guarantee that they will PAN OUT their ON PAPER POTENTIAL, and actually make it to the NBA.
If they were GUARANTEED to make it to the NBA, then they would not be CALLED NBA PROSPECTS PROSPECTS PROSPECTS, and would instead be called GUARANTEED NBA PLAYERS.
Heck take even the experts. Just because the EXPERTS have projected Gueye to be the #8 pick of the 2023 NBA DRAFT, doesnt mean he will do that. And the EXPERTS arent wrong to project that. He is that good. He is a PROSPECT for a LOTTERY pick in the NBA.But that doesnt mean that will happen. But it is a REASONABLE PROJECTION.
SO WHAT IF AJ isnt PANNING OUT. I was probably still right to call him a PROSPECT.
Also so what if I call these PROSPECTS, PROSPECTS. BIG DEAL. MAYBE I RIGHT, MAYBE I WRONG. GET OVER YOURSELF. GET OVER IT.
