Super Bowl: who ya got?

I didn't know who Kansas City is playing, until today. I had to ask a tech support guy over the phone. I suppose that says it all. Not an NFL guy.
My wife will be rooting for the Chiefs. I will be rooting for the Coug alums to have a good game.
I don’t think so. NFL definitely wanted them to get there, get all the swifties tuning in. Plus it’s good to have a villain. I don’t think the NFL cares who wins the game.
Eagles are going to dominate in the trenches. They have the X factor with Barkley. I think they will control the game and I don’t think it will be particularly close. 38-16…something like that.
Without the refs chiefs are a woulda been like 11-6 this year and wouldn’t have made it past the divisional round.
It’s better press for the NFL if the chiefs lose. Then next season becomes the revenge tour - Chiefs coming back for redemption and 1 more ring before Travis hangs it up to become leader of the swifties.
In the end…I don’t really care.
Perhaps. If I believed this with my wallet I’d go throw down $100K. I do think the eagles are superior in the trenches though. It’s either gonna be low scoring and close or the chiefs will get run. I’m highly confident in that.
Ahem…before this post gets buried just wanted to thump my chest. Do wish I’d put my money where my mouth is.

It didn't seem like Barkley was the X factor, rather the Eagles D. Barkley had only 31 yards in the first half--hardly dominant. Six(!) sacks on Mahomes and a pick-6. The Eagles D shutdown Kelce who didn't have a catch until the 2nd half. TOP was heavily lopsided as well.

Good call on the result. Only thing was that Barkley was held in check for the first three quarters of the game but Hurts abused the Chiefs defense when it mattered and the Eagles defense was great all day. That pick six was a dagger. Even with the Chiefs kind of sucking, they were one play away from it being a ball game until that happened.
True. I did think Barkley would have a game but it was pretty clear the Chiefs went all in on not letting Barkley beat them, and Hurts came through.
The disparity on the lines was pretty obvious to me though and it showed. The chiefs OLine is awful and regularly has gotten away with blatant holds to keep Mahomes upright. They actually called them a couple times last night and didn’t matter when they did Philly front was that dominant.
I didn't have a dog in the fight other than barely tilted towards the Chefs ;-) because they have a couple Cougs, but I did kinda watch until halfway through the 4th quarter. My thoughts:
- Officials got off to a rough start, first penalty on each team was BS and then they blew the TD call when he was clearly down at the 1 yard line. At least replay got it right.
- Officials also blew it on the Mahomes fumble, when he was clearly hit in the face by defender. I saw that in live action, yet it took Brady and what's his face about 6 replays before they noticed it.
- I was underwhelmed by the announcers, Brady and ????.
- Didn't pay much attention to them, but was also underwhelmed by most of the commercials. I remember when they used to be a big thing. It seems like so many of them rely on knowing who the celebrity is in them, and I didn't know most of them.
- Defense matters!!! Philly was dominant and pretty much put the game away before halftime.
- The MVP trophy should have gone to the Philly D-line. They almost were the sole reason for the win.
- As usual, I did not watch a single second of the halftime.
- Thank God that it was a safe event!
I was a little surprised that Philly got so much pressure - and so quickly - while only rushing 4. They were completely dominant.
I hadn't really watched the Chiefs all season, and almost as surprising as the Eagle's pressure was how much holding KC was allowed to get away with. Some of them were really blatant, and right in front of an official, but no flags. They did call a few of them once the game was pretty much in the bag, but right from the start, they were letting them go. And, on a related note - if I'm a KC fan, I want Juwan Howard cut immediately.
I think the ball was out before Mahomes was hit in the face. It was still worthy of a flag, but considering the muggings that KC was allowed to get away with - and the fact that I don't mind seeing Mahomes get punched in the face - I was OK with it.
Brady sucks. Even my wife - who wasn't really paying attention - asked "does he start everything he says with 'when I was in the super bowl?'" Yes. Yes, he does. ANd yes, it gets old.
There were maybe 2 commercials that were OK. None that were good, none that were really memorable...just OK.
I muted halftime and ate my dinner. I'm not sorry. I saw a clip of it with sound during a recap this morning, and was immediately even less sorry.
I think the true turning point for the Chiefs was that dropped pass to Deandre Hopkins. Get that and its first down and you're not giving the ball back to the Eagles.
My buddy said something similar about the ball being out, but why would that matter? I mean other than not liking the latest Golden Boy and wanting him to take some shots? They call that penalty all the time with linemen that have no possession of the ball, sometimes even downfield with LB's or DB's on WR's and TE's. And roughing the passer is specifically to protect the QB from getting drilled after he no longer has possession of the ball.
It wasn't like that call being made would have changed the outcome of the game, I just think it was an egregious miss by the officiating crew. Unlike holding, which as they say often, could be called on every play. Maybe they should make all the OL play with Artic mittens to eliminate all the holding?
Brady is truly awful.
Here’s my take on the chiefs and their personnel strategy. They are cagey and understand the game.
Completely loaded up at the skill positions and from what I’ve seen they coach their line to hold like a MFer knowing A. They have a lack of talent because they invest elsewhere and B. Knowing they can get away with it because the league wants Mahomes to do his thing…poster boy, fantasy, gambling, etc.
They got away with that strategy until yesterday, but the eagles were too dominant and even though they looked away at several other obvious holds including what should have been a safety, they were overwhelmed. James wouldn’t make most rosters. All he can do is hold.
