The good...actually the great was the national attention that highlighted why we are Cougs. You can't get better coverage. It was great WSU got the recognition it deserves. Also it was special that they won the game.

Make no mistake this is not possible without Moos and Leach. Leach has the program currently where price would have been roughly year 15. Leach in the rebuilding process is where Price (without Price's highs) was in 2002. It takes time to change a culture and get to the point where players expect to win. That is where WSU is now.

My question was "does Leach get what just happened and his importance in doing so with regards to Game Day." Someone in the department told me on Saturday that Leach grasps and appreciates what is transpiring. I was glad to hear that because the great coaches tend to focus on the losses rather than all the wins. Saban said he could afford to celebrate one day after a national title and he would spend 365 days thinking about the loss.

Making game winning plays...this team expects to make them. Bell's catch on a tipped ball for a first down. Harris wanting a would be interception more than the Oregon player. Look at those "game winning plays" vs a key drop in the 4th quarter by an Oregon receiver.

Also in the good column was the Oregon OC. He pulled a Mike Price of the 01 Apple Cup and tried to run it in from the 5. Why run wide on this team? That plays into WSU's strength. You have the first pick in the draft and take the ball out of his hands.

The bad-none

The ugly. There were two. First, the Coug at Game Day spotted wearing an Texas A and M hat. Really? Also I did hear of a fire that broke out and rumored to be celebration related.

What a great weekend.

Missing a PAT is never good. And a flat 3rd quarter may have some long term benefit in terms of reminding the young men that they have to play a full game, but flat 3rd quarters are never good.

Beyond that I agree with Ed.

Geez, you sure you want that on your tombstone? :p:D

I gotta wonder if this weekend made Leach realize how special WSU is. That was an epic weekend that really thrilled the nation.

Also, I was really happy in the post game when he said he was pissed we quit running the ball in the second half. Had we stuck with the run, it would have been a blowout.

I've never seen us with so many 2nd a 6's

Our school made a name for itself by showing up at gameday on other campuses, but you are butt hurt about this?

"It's an anthill of students"
"People ask why WSU? And I say, that's a stupid question."

Pretty sure CML already knew how special WSU is - he's never said one word to the contrary in 7 years.

Except for the time when he said Yes to Tennessee.

Pruitt was hired for 3.8 million per year and has no Division 1 or Power 5 HC experience.

Leach currently makes less than he does (3.5) and when Tennessee was talking to him he was making 2.95.

Now given that no HC experience Pruitt was paid 3.8 and Leach was making 2.9. It’s probably safe to assume that Leach was going to be offered close to 4 million bucks maybe more. Sciano was reportedly offered 4.5 million.

So let’s assume the low of 3.8 to sciano’s 4.5 was the range.

From Leach’s 2.95 that’s a boost of 850k to 1.5 million...per year. Per year.

Now I’m sure most die hard Cougs no matter how much they love WSU...if someone offered them 850k to 1.5 million dollars per year...guaranteed for at least 5 would take that.

To let you know how insane that amount of extra money is.

Here is a 1.5 million dollar home in Knoxville.
https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2263-Henge-Point-Ln-Knoxville-TN-37922/41712546_zpid/

He was offered an extra one of those...every year...guaranteed for 5 years if he just did what he was doing in Pullman in Knoxville.

That’s an insane amount of money to pass up.

Pullman is special. WSU is amazing, but I don’t care who you are. If someone offered you 5 1.3 million dollar houses to do the same thing somewhere else you are taking it or are stupid.

Leach will not stay if people offer him 50% more money than we are paying him.
Very very rarely would people turn that down at that level.

Leach is valuable we are lucky to have him, he knows how special Pullman is he also is not stupid. He’s a good coach because he’s not stupid, and he would be stupid to turn down a 50% pay increase to coach in the wealthiest and most successful conference to date.

You go to school to learn a profession. And do what? Make money. Why do all the students who graduate leave Pullman? To make money. To expect a talented person to not do the same if such an offer is made is naive.
