The Love For Leach Is Very Cool

It's kinda funny how people react to Leach, either love him or hate him. I spend some time on other team's football forums and there are plenty of people who admire him, and still a lot of people who seem to genuinely dislike him even though they have no connection to him.

To this day, I've had people not like him because of the "incident" at Tech, only to have to politely review the facts. They go 180 turnaround right after.

I love Mike for what he has done for our football program, and I enjoy his eccentricities.

However, there are other things I don't like about him that much. I can see how people can like or dislike him. Whatever.

Let's beat Cal next!

The same things you love about leach are the same things you hate about him. I would get pissed about empty sets and lack of running the ball with Falk. Now I’m loving it with Minshew. Leach is stubborn as hell, but you can see why. When the right guy is at the wheel his shit works and he knows it.

He can be abrasive. He has no qualms about picking fights with the media.

I didn't say I dislike the same things that I liked about him. The things that I don't like about him has nothing to do with football... And I just want to leave it at that.

Yup. And I can understand why he does. Though some don't like it, I like that Mike is closing off most practices from the press. It's better for us so that other teams don't get an inside scoop on us.

Funny. My father in law didn't like Leach because of his reputation from Tech. Now he gives the guy tons of respect.
.
CML is now winning the popularity contest all around the state of Washington and beyond. Funny how winning changes everything.
Also shows you his salary is absolutely deserved, if not more.

Talk to the parents of past and current players. Leach’s teaching skills and life lessons go well beyond the football field.

Leach isn’t paid to be anyone’s best friend. He’s paid to coach a football team. That’s his job. That’s what he does. And he does it really well.

Leach’s methods are harsh but he has to be that way about it. He has to get every single ounce out of a player and asks many to play above their level in order to win.

He graduates his players among some of the highest rates in all of college football and his program is generally clean in terms of off the field incidents and if they do happen he gets rid of them quite often in a hurry if it’s a cardinal rule.

There are very few people that can go to remote places like Lubbock or Pullman and win like he does with the limited resources he has. But he does it. He does with a consistency that is undeniable.

Leach is merit based disciplinarian. He is not a fuzzy give you a hug clappy bullsh*tter figurehead Coach. He’s a scheming out smart, out hustle, out tough you, never give up go for the jugular kind of coach.

If you want a hug and some clapping as a fan then you can get Mr. Rogers and hope that 5 star players will want to go to your school and play hard for the clapping and hugs because otherwise you’ve got 2-3 star soft kids trying to beat 4/5 starts at other schools with no scheme. But hey he did hug and high five you so you can pretend you aren’t a loser when you watch the team get trucked.

That’s not a coach. That’s a Walmart greeter and babysitter for college students.

This is a coach,

Mike Leach is a coach.

Leach is old school in a lot of ways and he has very good control/management of the team. He emphasizes school as much as any coach in the country. He is very loyal to his assistant coaches. His players respect him, and even though he is tough on them, I truly believe he genuinely cares for his players. All the players I've spoken to enjoyed playing for him (eventhough they said his stories run a little long:). LOL. He has been great for WSU and WSU has been great for him. I hope he is the WSU coach for a long long time.

You just described the worst coach in the Pac and possibly the country in Clay "Gomer" Helton

And is it a surprise that USC is trash with those 5 star recruits? No. It's not. USC is a school with all the resources, the market, the alumni not only in high positions but high positions in the media. They have every advantage imaginable, and they play exactly like their coach and program attitude is. Entitled, spoiled, and soft. UCLA the same way.

Why is Alabama so good while other blue blood programs struggle? They play like a mean disciplined team that gives maximum effort with 5 star talent. Just like their coach. That's hard to beat and will continue to be hard to beat.
