So this year, after having the North/South Divisions for the past several years, they decided to make it one conference. And the top 2 teams playing for the conference championship, rather than the division winners as in the past. Well we now have playing USC Utah, 4 versus 16 under the old system we could have had UW playing USC or
9 versus 4

Don’t get me wrong I happy as hell UW is not playing in the game. However a tie breaker that took into account rankings in some way when records were equal, would have been a wiser move.

Having divisions to decide who is in the championship game is a double edged sword. This year, UW misses out in the Pac-12. But in the Big-10 where they have retained the divisions, you have the three best teams in the same division (Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State). As a result, Purdue is in the championship game vs. Michigan. So I don't know what the answer is.....what works for one conference one year, might not work out for another conference.

I remember years when the three best teams in the PAC 12 were in the north division but a team from the south division was in the championship game. You are correct in that there is no real answer. Sometimes things will work out like they should and sometimes they don’t. I am hoping Utah will win because I don’t want USC representing the PAC12 as it’s champion considering they stabbed the PAC 12 in the back.

I think the two teams with the best record is a better idea, I don't have a problem with that. It's their tie breaker I have a problem with, they could have come up with a better formula.
