The program was 25 million in the red last year with all coaches taking a pay cut. 6-7 million is going to be the starting point for a coach who is considered a hit commodity. Might as well suggest we pony up $200 million for Saban because it makes as much sense. Fiscal reality is coming home to roost.

Pay Jimmy Lake $1 million then. (UW is picking up the rest)
Hire him an OC (so he can't screw that up) and tell him WSU is OK with walkon players fighting other teams on the sidelines.

If they are still afraid of him slapping players with laminated play sheets (plastic cuts?), give him play sheets made of foam.

I am not saying to hire June Jones. But, he has been a head coach in the NFL. He was a long time assistant in the NFL. He has been a head coach in the CFL. Besides, SMU was still coming off the death penalty years. They were 1-11 the year before Jones took over at SMU. They were 1-11 the first year, and in 2009, after losing that game in Pullman in overtime to WSU and Wulff, finished the year 5-5.

Not to mention that we all saw WSU lose to Portland State in 2015, and then go on to win 9 games. Isolating any one game does not always tell the entire story.

Jones left Hawaii after the 2007 season to coach at SMU. Greg McMackin was coach for both Hawaii victories over the Cougs in 2008 and 2009.
