US. If Anne McCoy takes any longer than today she should be let go of immediately. Dickert indicated he wanted to wait until January to talk contract. That’s an “I’m quitting” to any AD with an IQ above 75. Flight tracker showed him out of here on Tuesday evening via scheduling. If she waits until post Christmas or longer to secure a coach that isn’t Vigen she is worse than Sterk. She talked about the notecard that ADs have with next coaches, and hired a search firm who has all the ability to contact, vet, and draft contracts/hurry the process. Idaho had theirs done in 72 hrs. Why do we get stuck with these bunk employees where universities with 1/2 the resources are on top of it. So damn frustrating.

The coaching carousel has slowed wayyyy down.

Queen Anne needs a winner.

WSU admin and BoR has cancer. The kind of cancer you get from embracing average, ok, just enough, it’ll do, we’ve always done it that way, etc. Until the cancer is gone, you will see more hires like Queen Anne. Or Schlitz and Chunk. Or Sterk and HowlingTurd. Or RoloTurd and DickTurd. WSU needs a Meion Sanders team meeting. Everyone is told to find another job.

Idaho didn't have to VET as he was a former employee. Let me tell you about Chun's lack of vetting and the first WBB Coached he sorta hired.....Search firm is necessary.

Bill moos was famous for saying he Always carried three names on a card in the top front drawer of his desk to stay prepared for any coaching change. Said he would take it out on occasion for edits and updates, just in case it’s needed.

“We” took a week to hire a screening firm to give us a list of names.

It’s a shame Anne McCoy was never able to work with Bill Moos to gain a basic understanding of what an AD is responsible for.

Why is everyone all in on Vigen?

Wulff was an FCS winner too.

I’m not against the hire but curious on the love fest
Wulff cut off his nose to spite his face.

He literally imposed his own death penalty in order to "do things the right way." He assumed being a Coug would buy him a 10 year leash, probably because he was told as much.

The point I'm trying to make is that he made his job much harder than it had to be by blowing up the roster and locker room. He compounded it by recruiting D2 athletes to take their place.

That being said, whoever comes in will be dealing with a blown up locker room as well.

Wulff didn't get ewu to the national championship game. He also came after the program was already kinda strong.

This dude at msu has flipped the power team in the state from the grizzlies to the cats. That's all I have to say about that

Wasn't she there when Bill was there?

I don't have a lot of faith in her to be honest.

I'm fine with Vigen but he isn't publicly going to accept a WSU offer until after their championship game. Who knows whether he has been offered and privately accepted.
That’s much too long to salvage what’s left of our roster and HS class. We won’t even have a full roster next year.

Yes. She was also there when Sterk was. She’s been hanging around the WSU AD for decades, without putting anything notable on her resume. This tells me two things:

First, she was a budget hire. She was there, she was easy, and she was cheap. Not things that should be major factors in an AD search.

Second, she doesn’t take risks. No gambles, no big decisions. She lets someone else stick their neck out while she stays on the safe track. Not traits that are the mark of a good AD.

I expect nothing from her. There will be no big splash hire, or a big dollar one. There will be no aggressive wooing of donors and no new initiatives. She will - for the most part - let things come to her and avoid rocking the boat. It doesn’t matter that the boat is already sinking, she’s not going to take any chances in order to save it. She may be one of the last rats to leave it, but she isn’t going to be the hero that keeps it afloat.

EWU and Paul Wulf was not a 15-0, 16-0 National Championship winner that beat NDSU, South Dakotah.

EWU, Paul Wulf lost 2,3,4 games, went 10-2, 9-3, 8-4, instead of 12-0,13-0, 14-0, 15-0, like Vigen, then luckily made playoffs, then luckily upset some teams in Playoffs, and got lucky that NDSU, South Dakotah got beat out of playoffs, and that didn't have to play, beat NDSU, South Dakotah in playoffs

Paul Wulf, EWU also was 7-5, 8-4, etc, before that Wild Card lucky play off run.

Also EWU just barely squeeked by, beat those play off teams.

Vigen has DOMINATED, unbeaten, unlike Paul Wulf, EWU.

Not every FCS HC, is a Paul Wulf, that suck at FBS level.

If you watch Montana St play, and Vigen coach as a HC, and compare to Paul Wulf, it's obvious that Vigen is way better then Paul Wulf, is not a Paul Wulf.

According to the TV announcers, Vigen recruited a 4, FOUR STAR to Montana St, and had about 10 to 13 ALL AMERICANS on team.

Paul Wulf never came even remotely close to recruiting that well at EWU, star recruit rankings wise.

Paul Wulf only recruited 2 stars, 2.5 stars, 1 3 star, 1 all American, at EWU.

Vigen is extremely likely the real deal, not a Paul Wulf.

That said Vigen is not the only choice.

David Shaw is available, wants to coach again.

Same for Dana Holgorsen

And Jamarcus Shephard, who was a awesome WR coach, recruiter at WSU, in 2015, and is now ASSISTANT HEAD COACH, OC, AT ALABAMA, and reportedly wants the WSU HC job.

BSU HC.

So any of those would be awesome at WSU, including Vigen.

I TOLD YOU ALL SO THE DAY SHE WAS HIRED!! And so many on this board and Brand X and everywhere said she was sooo great, and I took shit about it.

That reminder vocalized, I am normally a "hurry up!" guy. In this case, however, I am fine to wait until after the NY's Day games, when all but 6 teams (4FBS, 2 FCS) are done and all potential coaches are available to talk to. Downside of this is missing some portal kids.

I was and am 100% with you on this. Jim Sterk set WSU athletics back a decade. McCoy is looking very much like Sterk. She’ll be praised for the tough decisions. She won’t be held accountable for the shitty results. It’s the WSU way.

literally no one here said that.

I question whether that will be true. I do question what the level of talent will be.

We have all seen the stats about how many kids have been entering the portal each year and then how many of them end up with scholies in the following year. I think it has worked out to about 1 out of 3, and if that is close to the ratio there will be a ton of kids out there available to fill out the roster. Some of them will be decent players, but will the new staff be able to identify them and then get them to come to Pullman either right away or in the summer before fall camp? Some can produce well, some will simply be warm bodies.

Plus we might not need to get as many there as before if the limit does stay at 69 rides. How is that for sucking?

And who hires the board of regents...

FBS: 105 scholarships - 79(WSU) = 26 scholarship deficit.

FCS: 63 scholarships - 79 = 16 scholarship surplus

It’s becoming clearer every day where this is headed.

Problem is that those 2 of 3 who don’t find landing spots are the ones who weren’t good enough to make a roster anyway - at any FBS school.

Then again, If we fill the roster that way, maybe attendance will fall low enough for Mrs. Phelps to move the team to Miami.

If, when Vigen hired as HC at WSU, since Vigen successfully recruited 4, FOUR STAR RECRUITS, ALL AMERICANS, etc, to a FCS, Montana St, small Pullman like, country, rural town college, then he Vigen should be able to do the same at WSU, in Pullman.

He Vigen is a awesome recruiter, salesman, etc.

Vigen also has instant, Saban, Coach K like CREDIBILITY, in the eyes of recruits.

So the talent at WSU should be just fine, assuming Vigen, or David Shaw, or Jamarcus Shephard becomes WSU HC, etc.

Their levels of successful are not comparable IMO. Wulff was basically "meeting expectations" at Eastern. He didn't do anything special there, just kept the program going in a relatively positive direction. He made the quarterfinals twice and got Eastern put on probation. Vigen has made the championship twice, and the semis once.

As usual, your brain rot is showing. Who else was WSU going to hire? There was no conference, there was no TV deal, and there was and is no money.

She's here for whatever time it takes to maximize her PERS 2 benefit.

To all posters in this thread - OK, I went aways back and looked at some threads and I guess there wasn't the groundswell of McCoy love here that I had recalled. I think I was mixing up her and the other horrible hire, Teresa Gould. However, both were loved in the media and on other sites.

Now, to you Gibby. Nice insult. "brain rot"? Posting during work time too again I see. Anne has been an A/P (Admin/Professional) employee her entire time at WSU, and as such by rule is not in PERS 2. She is in the A/P and faculty retirement plan (I don't remember the exact name), which is a 403(b) plan. Similar to a 401(k) for you non-higher ed types.

So it begs the question of whose brain has rotted more. Despite my debaucherous ways, my brain is as sharp as ever.

By your own admission you're confusing people. The brain rot is real.

What about PERS 2, Gibby? You gonna ignore the fact that you were WRONG about a simple fact? That is what I find so fascinating (and typical for a lawyer) about you. You never acknowledge that you are/were mistaken about anything. No "Oops", or "I was incorrect on that one". Never. Ever. You just ignore yourself and off you go on a new tangent.

Let's just edit my comment from above. "And so many some on this board and plenty on Brand X and everywhere said she was sooo great, and I took shit about it." Boy, I'm soooooo glad that you helped me correct that HORRIBLE exaggeration. Is everyone unconfused now?

There, Gibby, are you happy? Ready to actually start your work week and stop charging hapless clients for your WW posting? Hahahahahaha!! :)

Deone Sanders earns $5.7 Million/ year and ranks as the 38th highest paid coach in the country.

The highest paid coach in the MWC is Jay Norville at CSU earning $1.8 million. He ranks 71st overall.

Tom Skipper (FSU) is the lowest paid coach in the MWC at $462,000 ranked 125th. Next 4 are @$705k, $767k, $1.05m, $1.1m (rank 83)

I’m not sure what people expect at this point but it seems to me, WSU will be paying its next head coach somewhere between $1.1 - $1.8 million

Oh, what a deep cut. I'm so hurt. And you are WRONG again, Gibby. As I have stated many times on this board, I only drink Coors Light. So you are WRONG twice today, and it isn't even noon yet. Better ramp up your insult accuracy if you want to mentally compete with your elders and betters. Maybe that Viagra that you have to take is clouding your mind. :)

Fresno St recently hired Entz and his contract is right in line with that $1.1 - $1.8. Here are his numbers:
1st Yr: $1.1 million
2nd Yr: $1.35 million
3rd Yr: $ 1.5 million
4th Yr: $1.65 million
5th Yr: $1.75 million

UNLV is an anomaly. They got drunk on their success. New coach Dan Mullen $3.5 million per year for 5 years.

UNM Coach Eck. His contract pays him:
Year 1: $1,150,000
Year 2: $1,200,000
Year 3: $1,250,000
Year 4: $1,300,000
Year 5: $1,350,000

These coaches also get the usual bonuses and incentives.

Hey Meister! :)

WSU needs to offer an even $2M for our new HC. And decent assistant pay. Hope that we were smart enough to give modest bonuses to the 4(?) coaches who remained. But I would bet we didn't. I see that Jahad Woods is a Grad Asst. That helps.

I don't know who will get hired. What I do know is that this is a great opportunity to upgrade the coaching staff we had, and actually spend a little less than we were last year. There are many quality people available that would love to coach at this level, no we won't be stealing head coaches from power 4 teams. Can they make the right hire? We know they will spend less on the head coach than the previous coach, which was about 2.4-2.7 million, since they were already cutting his salary. It would be wise to take that savings and upgrade the pay for some quality assistants, to form a good staff. If they want to continue with a successful program that wins 7-10 + games a year, they have to be willing to invest in it. Unfortunately, from the sounds of it, WSU admin unlikely that path. I hope they see the error in their ways before they make a poor choice.

I hope so too. And I hope that the rumbling in my large intestine isn't pigs getting ready to fly out of my ass. Damn, those flapping wings hurt. My cute tush isn't used to that.

Edit - and yet more silliness emitting from Pac-2 HQ. Pac-14? Uh-huh.

Probably TIAA, although I think she would have had the choice between that and PERS. I don’t remember when PERS2 was closed - late 90s/early 2000s I think.

TIAA is the better option….unless you’ve already got several years of service credit in PERS. But if you’re choosing from the outside, TIAA>PERS2…and nobody in their right mind chooses PERS3 over anything.
