Thoughts on attendance this year

Yaki was a high school math teacher at a Yakima public HS. I think he may not be around anymore. Yes....he attacked several posters on this board and was extremly toxic. Banned a few times....but in the end....I don't think he's around any longer.
Interesting. Thanks MI. I'm thinking the same about scglory.

As far as attendance goes, I think we will struggle to sell out games. I don't know how many people are like a buddy of mine, but he was a season ticket holder for 22 years and he dropped his season tickets and quit donating to CAF because he disagreed with the way that Chun and Schulz handled the COVID situation.

He said that he won't give another dime to WSU until they are both gone. Personally, I believe that he's lost perspective and is allowing one side of the story to sway him too much...but it's his life and he's allowed to live it how he wants. We all know that everyone has their opinion and minds are not being changed. I'm guessing that there are enough people like him that are still bitter about the last two years that we are going to see some empty seats that used to be filled. No idea how many of course.

Chun, Schulz, and WSU in general don’t have a lot of latitude, thanks to Inslee’s consistent (and continuing) refusal to allow reason and good sense to be part of the equation.

Even now, 30-ish months later, he continues to force state institutions to turn their backs on employees and students because he insists on governing from a place of fear. The rules have not relaxed or gained any flexibility, even though the virus has evolved to more closely approximate a common cold.

No matter one's opinions about the pandemic and vaccines, it is baffling to me to hear how things have not changed in the past year there. The friend who said he's not giving money to WSU has a wife who works for a hospital. Because she chose to not get a vaccination, they force her to provide a negative COVID test before EVERY shift she works even if she is not ill or exhibiting symptoms. It's one thing to say, "We want to provide a safe environment", it's an entirely different thing to install a punitive policy that protects nobody but tries to bully an employee into complying. He's become completely marginalized and is difficult to have a conversation with, but it does suck to hear how over the top things are in Washington compared to where I live.

Like no longer posting (or even lurking) on this board? Or "not around" as in 6 feet under? ️🪦 💐

M-I, what have you heard on the whereabouts of Loyal Coug. He and Cougatron (is he M.I.A, too?) might've been the two most passionate WSU fans on this entire site.

Loyal Coug....not sure. We know he was in his retirement or later years, I think. Cougatron....good question. Have no idea.

I am similar to your friend. Had season tickets for 10+ years at around $3K per year. COVID opened my eyes to the fact that PAC 12 and WSU just aren't that serious about being competitive in Power 5 football. 4 games in 2020 while the SEC and BIG 10 had basically complete seasons....And there were no serious health implications by those two conferences taking a risk while still maximizing mitigation measures. The fact that we are now back to a full schedule doesn't vitiate the cultural and competitive differences in the conferences. It is what it is. No sense in banging my head against a brick wall. I still love WSU football but I would rather take the $3k and use it for betting on college football and basketball. I find that more entertaining nowadays.

From the conference of champions to the conference that "cares".

All three are around, some under different names....

Tron was never banned...yaki was not either when he left.
As the primary Mod for 12 years....I gave strong warnings to Yaki, can't recall that I actually ever banned him, but threatened to ban him a couple of times. I recall deleting or editing dozens and dozes of his posts. But yes, you're correct, he suddenly disappeared without being banned.

He was banned for probably a month then came back. Hung around for a couple of years then exiled under that name never to be heard from as yaki again....

I'm guessing the numbers are going to be way down as the PR wing of the school is begging people to pack out Gesa in the fall.
Certainly the COVID stuff is a part of it. Not only the politics but a lot of people reevaluating priorities. For a westside Coug one weekend in Pullman costs close to a seasons worth of games would cost a Husky fan. Hard to do that 6-7 times a year.
Add in inflation over the past year, how easy is it to plan for an expense like the Cougar football when basic costs like food, fuel, and utilities are increasing every month. People only have so many dollars to spend.

I agree. I didn't go to a football game from 20-21 because of the covid mess and drama around the program. During that time my wife and I started going to more concerts. Not a lot of big shows and all on the east side of the mountains, but we found some venues we liked along with local eating and drinking establishments. I live in the Tri-Cities, so Pullman isn't a bad drive, but Spokane is better. Mid-Columbia or Walla Walla, even more so. These trips are easier and shorter (if we don't make a weekend out of it) while paying about the same amount as we would to attend a home game. And as a bonus, my wife really enjoys these trips and I can separate myself a little from the drama that has become college athletics.

I am attending a game this year (CSU). My dad bid on the tickets at a fundraiser and won and needed someone to go with him.

What's Yaki's "new" name on this site? I'd like to be on the lookout for his posts. He seemed to have had a biting wit if I remember correctly.

Also ED, what happened to your little brother on this site. He was a feisty son of a gun for sure and a fun read, too :D

Yeah it's me. Been lurking the whole time. For years now?

if you want to message me I will tell you who Yaki and trim post under but I am sure I’m at least Yaki a case he would prefer to be Anonymous.

Sorry to hear about your brother. Disagree with most of his football takes but don't want him to get hurt.

Tron's posted a few times, think he got busy with life or something. Yaki disappeared since he got doxxed by sponge. Maybe he's posting under a nickname, but I doubt it.

This comment really speaks to the true innate pompous ass that you truly are.
Well...not sure I have been called pompous before...look doxer who thought it was really cool to publish my name, I can't prove to chop who I believe it is...so yaki's psuedo name would be safe. Pete means no harm, he just wanted to know Yaki is still around and not six feet under. I would prefer yaki post under his real name, but he won't. He thought it was really cool to dox me, put down my 16 year old daughters name, a woman co-worker. Yes, that is asshole behavior, as was yours...CE

Ed has his moments where he draws ire from folks but Yaki was way out of line in how he acted with Ed. At the end of the day, I'm not thrilled with the anonymity of many parts of the internet, because I think it empowers people to act like complete dillholes. At the same time, it's wrong for anyone to take it on themselves to start putting out personal information. Anyone who was party to the doxing that went on here shouldn't be proud of it.

Wow, scary stuff.

Hope he's OK physically and got all his belongings returned.

World is a crazy place
