If you're vaccinated, you have the protection you need right? I have natural antibodies, which by the way is far more powerful at fighting off a virus with a 99+% survival rate, than some vaccine. Oh and did I mention that I contracted Covid while masking up everywhere I went, social distancing etc etc? Everyone I know that got Covid was wearing a mask. Exactly. I'm not gonna dig through the posting history of some on here, but I think those who sat out in protest at the request of some BLM or other related group, they wouldn't be asked to pack up and go home.
Now, for my part, I agree with Biggs, et al. You don't show up when required and without a really good reason or advance approval, you don't play. Do it enough, and you go home. I don't care if it is some social justice protest, vaccine mandate, whatever, it applies equally.
On a related note, who remembers the Million Man March? When I was in grad school I was teaching a lower division math class. I was one of about 15 TAs for a professor that organized everything. The schedule was published in advance. Well, the MMM feel on a test day. In my section I had about 3 absences. All three failed to request an accommodation, gave me no notice. When they returned I asked where they were and they told me that in solidarity they joined a march in Pullman. I asked the lead professor and she said to give all three zeros on their test. I followed up and told them and they didn't even argue. They understood and accepted the result. Just like this, players who fail to show up should understand and accept the results of their disobedience.
I totally support the players if they protest. Schools all over the south are sold out on game day and the numbers just aren’t there regarding students and cases. What's lost in the vaccine mandates is the absolute hypocrisy of it all. It was ok to go to work and be in situations where it was ok to not be vaccinated but when this clown show of an administration initialized it and all the little minion democrat Governor's started up with them too, they decided those same people who put themselves at risk all this time, shouldn't be allowed to work anymore because now they're considered to be a risk to others.
I'm not sure it was COVID that shutdown the economy, but the reaction to COVID. I think the point CIS is making is that maybe we should have reacted to COVID the way we react to the flu.
