Leach laid into Blanchette when he asked why WSU has been unable to beat UW in AC.

Actually a legitimate question If you cannot stand the heat get out of the kitchen.leach has got his ass kicked again It was a solid ass kicking in every way Blanchette is an ass and deserves it but Leach has to be accountable for an ass kicking in the Apple Cup

This is the predictable crap attitude that has propped up boogger journalism blanchette for way to long.

You hear one guy clap pretty aggressively.

I see both sides - yes, Leach does deserve a lot of flak for laying down in this game seven straight years. But this is also probably a scenario where Leach has wanted to say something to Blanchette, his emotions are running high and out it came. Probably more to do with his own frustrations at the end result than at Blanchette.

But anyone who says Blanchette hasn't acted like a chotch the last 20+ years hasn't been paying attention. He had it coming one way or another, no matter the timing. But Leach's critics are right. No other coach in American is talking about another team's recruiting class when explaining (another) loss, and neither should Leach. Coach up YOUR players and game-plan and strategize how to take down your biggest rival. No matter what you inherit, there is no reason for any team to lay an egg against your biggest for this long.

Take your medicine like a man. Be a Harry Truman, not a Donald Trump.

Harry Truman threatened to punch a music critic who gave his daughter a bad review.

And hated the Spokesman Review probably more than anyone here.

Please try again.
The buck stops here—I don’t care about the other stuff

Sounded to me like Leach laid the foundation for why he’s leaving. Recruiting disparities.

That's exactly the point. If Leach doesn't believe it's possible without closing the recruiting gap, then he's telling us it's not possible.
So he can go into the Coliseum and beat the 4-5 star Trojan recruits but he can’t take down a mediocre uw team?

Unclear if there is some kind of incredible misunderstanding here.
  • Leach pointed to recruiting to explain 7 straight AC losses
  • I am pointing out the same thing you are here - that he's done far more with far less
  • Leach pointing to that makes no sense
  • If he is saying we can't expect wins until we close that gap, then we should just... not expect wins

We should all be terrified if Leach really believes that he can't win the AC without matching the UW's recruiting talent - because it will NEVER happen
It’s really a stupid comment. It’s an insult to the guys you’ve recruited and are recruiting. While realizing you may not win the recruiting rankings challenge, a coach at Wazzu should take pride in the guys that want to play there.

there was plenty of talent to beat that UW team today. It was shitty coaching that did them in

If you’re saying bullshit like I am, then no misunderstanding. We ran off a streak of wins against Oregon and Stanford—who kill us in recruiting—so he doesn’t get to play that excuse card.

Right on three counts:
  1. It throws the current players under the bus
  2. It makes no sense vs what he's been able to do vs other teams
  3. Pointing to the thing that is NEVER going to happen as the thing which stands between you and victory is beyond underwhelming

Here, here!!

We were a crap team this year. Stanford and Oregon State are bad teams. Cal is a bad team. Colorado is a bad team. ASU is a bad team. UCLA is a bad team.

Our best game of the season was at Oregon. In retrospect, we’re fortunate as Hell to be 6-6.
I was thinking the same thing earlier, this team is like one of the teams at WSU when Leach took over. Its a bad team, deeply flawed and held together with string and bandaids.

He may have done a pretty good job just to get this team to a bowl game.
Its basically a cycle, the program isn't good enough to reload and every 3-4 years is going to crap out and have a "rebuilding year". Hopefully the recruiting gets better so this doesn't reoccur as often. I think staff retention is pretty high up on the list to keep things going in the right direction. Some funds, maybe even out of Leachs own pocket have to go to getting good coaches and retaining them. If I was Chun that would be a weak area I would focus on.

Blanchette is dying inside because the women went through the absolutely the toughest, no excuses, route to the College Cup, so he can't slight us on that. Blanchette hated Mike Price, a really nice guy, and claimed we backed into the 1998 Rose Bowl because it was a down year for USC. Do you really think he is going to take it easy on a coach who is utterly owned by the Huskies? Blanchette kissed only Chappy's arse, because he won in dominant fashion. Leach get out there, sell yourself to the kids you need, starting recruiting like Price, you will dominate. You won 6 games with Wulff's top 100 talent. Trust me, Blanchette will kiss arse if you take us to the playoffs.

The only thing missing was calling Johnny boy a GU stooge.

Disagree.

He has a couple qbs that will prob be in NFL camps.

He has a couple OL that will probably be in NFL camps.

He has a RB that will be in a NFL camp.

He has prob 4-5 wide receivers that will be in NFL camps.

He has the talent to score more than 13 points today.

Granted the defense needs some help, but they played well enough to win more games. Well enough doesnt mean shut outs. It also doesnt mean overcoming special teams scores or the offense giving up touchdowns.

The idea that 6-6 was as good as this was gonna be this year is crap and you dont know what youre looking at.

They had enough talent to win 8-9 games. Leach sucked this year. It’s one thing if he takes some accountability. Sometimes those of us that are good at our jobs have a shitty year. Will he figure out what he needs to do to fix it or will he point the finger at others?
