72-61 victory. Defense forced 20 turnovers and held Idaho State's leading scorer to 2 points, O FGs after he erupted for 41 against Air Force. Shooting still a big problem for the Cougs, 3-17 from three-point and scoring will be a problem if CJ is held in check. Fortunately, Elleby had a big game with 23 points, 8 rebounds, 7 steals. The team plays hard and should get better. Next game Thursday at home vs. Omaha.

This preseason is meaningless partly because the schedule which he inherited is trash. Play .500, or win them all (avenging New Mex State perhaps, but that's not even a Pullman game)

Not sure if it's completely set but it appears the starters will be Pollard, Elleby, Kunc, Shead and Bonton. At this point there is a noticeable drop-off after them. Shead went down in the 2nd half. Looked like an ankle. He couldn't put any weight on it at all. Fortunately Robinson is an experienced and serviceable backup. Bonton is extremely quick and has a great handle but he gets going too fast for his own good at times. He gets out of control and ends up taking poor shots. In this game alone he shot 5-15 from the field and 1-7 from 3. That's quite a few possessions with no result.
Idaho St, altho not good, great, is a better Idaho St, perhaps the best Idaho St ever, and is at least a ok, semi good Idaho St.
Idaho St had a player score 41, FORTY ONE points against AIR FORCE, and AIRFORCE is USUALLY a GOOD Mountain West team.
And WSU held the player that scored 41 points to 2 buckets, and a very small semi handful of points.
If this has not been a better, best Idaho St, and had been a CRAPPY Idaho St, like in years past, then WSU would have won by a way bigger margin say 17 to 33 points.
A 11 point margin of victory against a better Idaho State, that better then past Idaho St's, is better then a bigger margin of victory against a Crappy Idaho St in the past.
This team will likely win 12,13,14,15,16 this season.
This team will also be close in a lot of HARD FOUGHT games.
And this team is playing, will play better basketball then Kents team.
Kent's team beat a Crap Idaho St by a bigger margin, and then had a HORRIBLE srason of HORRIBLE basketball.
Smith had a smaller margin of victory against a better, semi good non crap Idaho St, and has played better Basketball, and will have, play a better season.
Posting that Kent had bigger margin of victory against a CRAP Idaho St, was, is SILLY.
Also Smith beat Seattlle Pacific, by 31 points, the same team that BEAT Kent

The best Idaho State team ever was in 1977 when the Bengals beat #2 ranked UCLA in the NCAA tournament.
