I'm a bit behind in the action but after a slow start (this is our game 1) we have looked really good. Down 0-4 we went on a 12-0 run highlighted by true freshman Ledger-Walker. Cherilyn Molina is playing off the bench but has come in and looks a lot more confident. Ula got it going with a 3 on her first start.

They look a lot more athletic. This is fun to watch.

I do miss Bobbi B...one of my all time favorite players...including NBA and all of college. I've been able to watch her games on the computer over in Poland. Just scored 27 pts and hung the net 3 times on the 3 ball.

Charlisse Leger-Walker hasn't disappointed. She's not as offensively gifted at Hristova but quicker. The defense and rebounding has been really good in the first half. The only issue has been the 3. Teder (JC transfer) knocked 1 down late in the half.

All the returning players look improved. Ula and Cherilyn Molina stood out to me the most. Didn't get much from Bella but she's a presence. Just needs to slow things down.

UW isn't very good but impressive for game 1.

Coug's 37 UW 16!

Yeah this kid is impressive.

They are playing good team ball.

Yeah. Bobbi wasn't the quickest...but probably the craftiest and one of the most creative scorer I've seen at any level. Like a swiss army knife.

Other than Bella the starters played a lot of minutes in the first half. Defense doesn't look quite as quick in the second half. Hopefully legs don't get to them game 1.

Coug's still up 52-36 after 3. UW scores 5 in the last 30 seconds of the quarter off a 3 and a foul after a turnover. We gave up more points in the 3rd than the entire first half.

Need to nip the turonvers in the bud. But they are playing a nice team game here. Did Cheryln M start? I missed the beginning. Looks like the frosh took her spot...and thats impressive.

The Leger-Walker sisters, Teder (soph JC transfer), Ula, and Bella started. Molina's played a lot and she's done a nice job.

Our offense has gone away in the 2nd half but still holding on to a 10+ lead with under 3 minutes.

Yeah I think a lot of it has to do with playing the basketball equivalent of the prevent defense. I think they will be better than what I expected this year. Only problem is, we play in the toughest conference on the planet.

That's true on taking the air out of the ball down the stretch. Too many turnovers and some shots not dropping early season that hopefully will as they get more games.

Yeah, hard to crack this conference. It's brutal at the top typically through 7 or even 8. Get whatever wins you can get.

Nice win by our girls. The younger Leger-Walker kid is outstanding. Defense was good. Now just clean up those turnovers and we are good to go.

Turnovers and 3 shooting were issues tonight. Hopefully that's just about being game 1 but the competition gets a lot better next week. Need the bench to take more minutes beyond Cherilyn Molina as well.

I didn;t see Sarver shoot any 3's...and she is a good shot. The kid from Estonia hit one and looks like she has a nice shot.

I have a feeling we are going to see a lot more rotation this yr. They looked well coached for their first game

Agree with the appearance of good coaching. First game of the season and they looked fine, especially defensively.

Teder (Estonian) shot with range at the JC level. Hopefully that translates. I thought her anticipation and quickness was good on defense as well. She was disruptive. She was going to USF but ended up at the JC. I was excited to see what she could do and liked what she brought.

it will be interesting to see what we can do against the Oregon schools. Agree with both on how prepared they looked.

That freshman was solid. Ethridge is 4-1 against the Dawgs. For being their first game, not a bad performance. Hopefully that’s the defense they’re able to play. Still missing some scorers but they have a freshman to build around.

On a different note, I was late to the party on the Subasic thing. Only found out last week. To say I was pissed would be an understatement (at the coaches, not at her)

I can somewhat understand it now... although not very happy with it. It looks like they are trying to go young and athletic. Probably the only way we will complete in the long run by getting a young group and having them stay together for 4 yrs.

She was a really good kid...and obviously I hope we beat the Beavs...but wouldn't mind seeing her hit a few 3s

Well unhappy is a state of affairs. So far I am not impressed with this staff at all.

I saw some basketball smarts, decent ball-handling and passing, and solid, for the most part, interior defense. These are things I have never been able to associate with Coug women hoops. I think this is the best product women's hoops has put on the floor, period. I will be disappointed if they don't play the Oregon schools tough. At least OSU. The main difference I noticed in myself, while watching them play, was I wasn't constantly frustrated with an atrocious pass, out-of-control dribble, or some kind of ludicrous hero shot that had zero chance of even hitting the rim. Very pleasing change of epititude.

The staff botched it on this one. Apparently they had the "it's probably a good idea to look for another program" conversation before last season and then had recruits fall through. I do think they are looking for quicker players which is not Subasic but I think there was still a role for her this year. Beyond Ula our bigs are still raw. It would be great to find a grad transfer for next year. Right now they really can't take Ula off the court.

Back to Subasic, she hasn't seemed to make too much impact at OSU yet. Wouldn't be surprised if her minutes increase for our game though. OSU hasn't been quite the same this year yet. Struggled with a solid but not great USF and lost to Utah.

We need to get one against OSU. We have had a few close misses over the years.
