Gonzaga up 22-14. So far, Gonzaga wants this game more than we do. They are out hustling us. 18-5 rebound advantage for them right now. They have 10 second chance points and they lead by 8.

Gonzaga is 5-9 from three.

33-25 Gonzaga lead at the half. 23-9 rebounding advantage for the Zags. Cougs slow on their rotations, and they are getting a lot of open looks.

Better third quarter. Cougs got hot from three and started playing with more intensity. 49-47 Zags at the end of 3.

Gonzaga comes out in the 4th and score the first 8 points. Time out Cougs.

69-61 final. Zags dominate the boards, 45-22. We were also 1-6 from the line versus the Zags 6-6.

GU shot 11-23 from 3! We ended up 8-18 from 3 but only 2-7 in the 4th. Wallack, E Villa, and Covill were the offense with 48 points on 20-38 shooting. The rest of the team with 13 points on 6-23 shooting. E Villa started 2-8 (1-3 FT) in the first half but ended up 9-19 for the game. Wallack started with 7 points in the 1st but only 5 the rest of the way and 0-1 in the 4th.

The rebound deficit was the game for sure! Our transition defense also leaked a lot of good shots GU made. Then there was the stretch in the 3rd where we had 3 straight turnovers I think down 7.

It takes us a long time to find the code against decent teams. Kami said this week that this is a "semester long project". Definitely feels like it. At the end of the week at worst we are in a tie for 2nd place. Sucks to lose at home, but need to bounce back next week and get a couple back on the road.

Gonzaga's rebounding advantage is nearly unbelievable. Oddly we had a big turnover advantage. It appears to me J Villa is better suited in a 6th woman role.

Agree at this point on J Villa especially if she's not hitting 3s and she really needs work on her ball handling.

Who replaces her? Mendes is talented but wild and foul prone. Alsina defends but is wild shooting. Gardner has shot well in spurts but hasn't earned much time for whatever reason.
