I can’t recall a worse combo of Lautima and Durant since maybe Chima Nwachuku and Casey Locker? Even Casey Locker would destroy people at times. Didn’t Dickert make his way up coaching secondaries? At this rate, it’d probably be better to let John walk, pay Emmet Brown 50k to come back or the UNM QB, or go to the back up, and pay Parker, plus some D lineman and secondary transfers. I don’t think our safeties would start 3/4 the MWC teams. Gushiken maybe 1/2 the teams at nickel, and our CBs are okay. We are basically Cal under Sonny Dykes. How Dickert can let this continue on defense is baffling, it’s his area of expertise. Drop the “CEO” coach tag and do something.

It’s hard to believe there’s not a better option than Durant. He’s so flat footed and has been burned badly over the top a dozen tines. The talent is not there on defense recruiting has already dropped to mid MWC levels at several positions.
You could go position by position with this argument. It's just a gradient of badness. And this is against MW talent; imagine the carnage against a full schedule of P4 competition.
How we beat UW and TT is beyond me, because this WSU team looks nothing like those iterations.

I thought the scheme was atrocious yesterday. We sat in the same ineffective 4-3 defense the entire 2nd half. Bill Doba would have never allowed them to keep gutting us with the same 3 plays. He would have changed to a 5-man front and said FU, run something else.
Are you serious . Oregon in 2001 had two backs over 200 yards for a total of 446. He made no adjustments and because the wind was so strong Harrington couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.
It was one week later we played UCLA and the leading rusher in the country in Foster. He finally made an adjustment where he went to 5 down lineman .
So I know people look way better over time, but they all seem slow to adjust.
And before you claim it is New Mexico, they run such an unconventional offense i would think people would understand it is a horrible match up on top of the DE not holding an edge.
