1. South Dakota State, Rogers, etc, could, would, should easily beat most G5 teams, and be competitive in losses to BSU, Memphis, Tulane like G5 teams, and should either beat Vandy, Kentucky, Duke, type P4 teams, or at least be competitive in losses to Vandy type teams. Yes they would lose to mid P4, to semi blue bloods, blue bloods, and get blown out by them. Thats how good South Dakota St, NDSU, Montana St, the top 1,2,3 4 FCS teams that have DOMINATED, been consistent national champs at the FCS level for the last about 13+ years.
2. Because of point 1 above, if a team like WSU, takes the coaching staff, 23 players, from a NDSU, South Dakota St, and combine that with the players that stayed at WSU, and the Devin Ellison type recruits, etc, that team is not going to suck, not going to be a Paul Wulf type of team. And that team will probably win at least 5,6,7 games in their first season.
3. EWU, Paul Wulf, and his staff, players, recruits, etc, were nowhere even remotely close to being remotely close to being as good as a NDSU, South Dakota St, Rogers, Vigen, their coaching staffs, players, recruits. EWU went about 7-5, 8-4, 9-3, etc, and sneaked into playoffs, and butlucked, upset 1,2 teams, in 1,2,3 years.
4. WSU, Rogers did not take ALL the players, coaching staff. About 1/2 were, was South Dakota's best, better coaches, players, recruits. Then other half, while not the better, best, had, have a lot of potential, upside. The rest of the players left behind were either semi bad, below average, or if they were good, they chose to stay at South Dakota St.
5. Rogers was hired late after the season ended at WSU. Spring Practice is coming soon. WSU had lost about, around 30 players. Rogers needed to assemble his coaching staff, bring a lot of South Dakota St players, hit the transfer portal, JC transfers, HS recruiting, take some chances on 2.5 star, 3 star, 3.5 star players, etc, in order to fill out the coaching staff, team, so as to be able to conduct a effective spring practice, and so that would have a little something in place, to show portal players, JC transfers, for when the transfer portal reopens.
6. Let's take BSU as a example. Let's say a semi GA level coach at BSU produced, developed Ashton Jeanty. Let's say Rogers hired that GA to be RB, running backs coach at WSU.
I don't care how inexperienced that coach is, or that he is a GA. HE RECRUITED, PRODUCED, DEVELOPED, ETC, ASHTON JEANTY, HEISMAN LEVEL RB.( this is a what if scenario)
That's similar to WSU, Rogers hiring Freund(who responsible for Walter Payton Award winner Gronowki(QB), hiring Robbie Rouse who was responsible for the best FCS RB(A Ashton Jeanty level RB).
I don't care the experience background, as they produced a Ashton Jeanty level RB, QB.
7. Lately Rogers has out recruited, beat out P4's, semi blue bloods for about 3,4,5, 3 stars, 3.5 star recruits, including Devin Ellison, a Top 10 JC in the entire nation.
8. If WSU only wins 3,4,5,6 games next season(Still better then Paul Wulf), Rogers will probably replace 1,2,3 of the coaches, and Rogers recruiting will probably be different, better his 2nd year. He will have time to hit LA, CA, etc. He will go into Chicago, Kansas City, St Louis, Dallas, Houston, Minneapolis, LA, CA, Texas, Transfer Portal, JC transfer ranks, etc.
He Rogers does not have time to do all that now, as he has to put together a team as fast as possible for Spring Practice, because WSU AD hired him AFTER the portal CLOSED, AFTER most of the better, best players, recruits in the portal, JC ranks, either said NOT INTERESTED, or were gone, not there anymore, taken already. It was truly SLIM PICKINGS for Rogers by that time.
9. Despite all that Rogers has done fairly ok, despite all that. And the Recruiting has picked up, gotten better.
10. Instead of being all doom and gloom, how about we wait and see what happens.
WSU, Rogers will probably win about 5,6,7,8 games next season.
Remember this is not the old PAC 10/12. The schedule is easy enough that WSU, Rogers should, probably will win about 5,6,7,8 wins, and might even win 9,10 games next season.
WSU has never had a coach, and players, and recruits come in saying they, WSU will make the playoffs, Natty, etc. The closest is, was Mike Price saying he was going to get WSU to Rosebowl.
Rogers and staff and players and recruits, etc, are very dedicated, committed, have the highest standards, expectations, etc, or at least seem that way.
And even if they fail, get fired, etc, I'd rather have them aim for the Moon, stars, etc, and miss, then for them to aim for a pile of shit and hit.
