Over the years, what bowl games have you been lucky enough to attend? Which one was the best? Which one do you most regret skipping?

For me:
1997: Rose Bowl
2001: Sun Bowl
2002: Rose Bowl
2015: Sun Bowl
2016: Holiday Bowl
2017: Holiday Bowl
2018: Alamo Bowl.....pending

I was too poor in college to go to the 1992 Copper Bowl and none of my lame ass friends were going to the 1994 Alamo Bowl so I skipped that one. I regret not going to the 2003 Holiday Bowl. I received a $10,000 bonus that year so I had the money, but I thought, "It's still kind of expensive and hey, we are going to bowl games every year now. I'll just go to the bowl game next year". Whoops! So that one is the one I regret skipping. I didn't go to the 2013 New Mexico Bowl because my wife had already purchased airline tickets for a different vacation in early November. We had just got rolled three times in a row and I figured we weren't going to qualify for a bowl game. I was very happy to be wrong on that one.

Anyway, what games, which was best and which one do you wish that you hadn't missed?

1997 Rose Bowl
2013 New Mexico Bowl

I wanted to attend one of the last two holiday bowls, but already had family plans before the selections were announced...

I forgot to follow my own rules and say which one was best. It's harder than it looks. 1997 was the most meaningful one for me and the one that I'm most glad that I went to.....but I can't be happy with the game until I get my 2 seconds back. 2002 Rose Bowl was special to me because it's the only bowl game that I went to with my dad.

I had the most fun at the 2001 Sun Bowl. Winning the game.....not the city. El Paso sucks.

1997 Rose Bowl
2002 Rose Bowl
2003 Holiday Bowl

Loved the 1st RB and the Holiday Bowl. 2nd RB not so much, but still glad we went.

Glad Cougar

‘98 Rose
‘03 Rose
‘13 NM Bowl
‘18 Alamo

The ‘98 I was in grad school and credit carded the whole trip. Totally worth it (even though I’m sill owed 0:02).

Since then, all my buddies had some excuse (wife expecting, new job with no vaca, haven’t paid off the summer Carribean cruise, blah, blah, other first world problems). And I’m not extroverted enough go alone and chum it up with strangers.

I went to the 2015 Sun Bowl solo and there's no doubt that it's better to go with friends. I did end up meeting up with some Cougs at a local bar and shooting pool with them until 2 am. Gave my extra pizza pockets that I bought at the bar (I'm kind of a rock star) to some college kids that were driving from Arizona to NYC for the New Year's celebration. I'm still (virtual) friends with the Cougs that I shot pool with. If not for the snow, that might have been my best trip. Snow sucked....a lot.

1997 Rose Bowl
2002 Rose Bowl
Not really a bowl game, but I did go to Super Bowl 48

1992--Copper Bowl
1998--Rose
2003--Rose
2016--Holiday

I suppose the 98 Rose was the most fun although the 92 Copper Bowl was the only one we won.
I thought the 16 Holiday Bowl would be the best since I used to live in San Diego in the 70's but my wife got pneumonia and the game was a dud.

Great thread...

2001 Sun Bowl
2002 Rose Bowl

El Paso was no life of luxury and the walk across to Juarez was nothing short of sketch, but the game itself was fun to be at. There was so much excitement around the team, super glad I made the trip.

Pasadena was all about the experience... the parade, the game, all that. We drove from Denver and stopped in Vegas each way. Wish it had been a better game, but what a spectacle. Could have done without the “Boomer Sooner” chants every five seconds.

I regret not making the trip to San Diego for the Holiday Bowl (seems to be a theme here)... and like many, figured we would be in bowl games consistently. I moved back east shortly thereafter and it’s made it more difficult to make bowl games when I already commit to one in-season game per year.

That being said, I went to Rutgers, which was fun... but I would put the two games at Auburn up against anything I’ve been to outside of Pullman.

None yet. Sold my student ticket to the '97 Rose Bowl to payoff my credit card. Got a nice haul

92 Copper
03 Holiday
16 Holiday
17 Holiday

92 Copper and 03 Holiday were fun

last 2 Holiday uninspired efforts were hard to watch

98 rose.

Someone mentioned lousy seats in another thread, I'm pretty sure I've got that topped.

Very top row, center in the South end zone, pretty much the single furthest place from the field in the stadium. And again, these were Cougar allotment tickets.

I was in graduate school at the time, so I got student tickets (2 in one EZ). But I also entered into a drawing with the Alumni Association, and won the opportunity to buy 2 more tickets (in the opposite EZ). So I managed to get 4 tickets to the game as a student.

We drove to the game from the Seattle area, staying with friends in San Fran, and then staying with my buddy's aunt in Studio City. When we were in a hotel getting drinks the night before the game, and got into a conversation with some Michigan fans. They were offering us $500/ea for our seats. They were older (perhaps in their 50's at the time) and were locals. We were sorely tempted, but thought "We'll never get he chance to do this again."

Interestingly, I remember those tickets were $75/each. For the Alamo Bowl, I paid $145/ea to WSU for EZ tickets. I'm not sure what the EZ prices are for the Rose Bowl now, but it is an interesting note about inflation.

I've been to:

Holiday Bowl '81
Copper '92
Alamo '94
Rose '98
Sun '01
Rose '02
Holiday '03
N Mex '13
Holiday '16

My favorite? No question - '98 Rose. Winning the games we did that '97 season and going to the "Granddaddy of them all" for the first time in forever, after being told most of my young life "the only Rose Bowl WSU will ever go to is the bowling alley in Rosalia", was something extra special. I'll never, ever forget being there with my family and extended family of Coug friends and looking out over the sea of Crimson in the stadium. It literally brought tears to my eyes.

Yeah - I WANT MY TWO SECONDS BACK from the end of that game!!

Most exciting? Holiday Bowl vs Texas in '03.Beating the #5 ranked Texas Longhorns, as an undercat #15 ranked WSU team, should be a cautionary tale for all who think this Alamo Bowl is beneath us.

The one I missed that I wish I had been at? Aloha Bowl '88. Because.........Hawaii.

I went to the 03 Holiday Bowl. I would like to go to the Alamo Bowl but we just got back from a 3 week European vacation and can’t afford it. Oh well may be next year!

I missed 81 Holiday and 88 Aloha and I too wish that is one I attended.

If anyone has ticket stubs from bowl games from the 1994 Alamo bowl or earlier they would like to part with, send me a DM. I'll make it worth your while.

Copper '92
Rose '98
Sun '01
Rose '02
Holiday '03
N Mex '13

Every one of them a good time. But the three in California were particularly great as I hosted giant talegate functions and spent them with a lot of friends.

I likely have an extra Cooper Bowl ticket. One of mine is framed with an autographed Bledsoe jersey but I believe the other is in a box.

I’ll try to DM you but not sure if I can. You may have to initiate it.

New Mexico '13
Holiday Bowl '16
Holiday Bowl '17

I regret not going to the 02' Rose Bowl. Was a freshmen and a bunch of friends did a road trip down to SoCal during the break while I sat at home at my parents house and did nothing memorable. Was in Hawaii during the '03 Holiday Bowl, so that was a nice consolidation prize.

My first was 1988 Aloha Bowl...Cougs scored 24 points in the Second Quarter. Keith Jackson and Lynn Swann called the game that glorious Christmas day. Haven't missed one since. Favorites were 1997/98 Rose bowl (I want my two seconds back) and 2003 Holiday Bowl.

I regret not going to the 02' Rose Bowl.

You didn’t miss anything. It was one of the worst games I’ve ever attended. Most of us were still butt hurt over the Apple Cup, and the Rose Bowl was over before it began. Gesser hobbling around is my only real memory. It was the least exciting big game I’ve ever been to.

Yes they were $75 as I remember. The best part of that whole Rose Bowl was the Denny's in Pullman putting well drinks on special $0.67 from the day after Apple Cup until the Rose Bowl game. It was epic. Might have added a couple extra summer courses to my load.

2003 Holiday. Went with my dad. Was teaching and getting my Masters at the time. Saw one of my students like 2 rows down. We also visited some family in Coronado. I discovered that I rather dislike pastel stucco.

I believe that Rose Bowl tickets for this year were $245 for side line seats. Not much less for end zone. So the history that I know of looks like this:

‘98 - $75
‘03 - $125
‘19 - $245

I went to an SC Rose Bowl a few years after the ‘03 Rose Bowl and tickets were $175. I somewhat expected the face value for this year might even be higher.

Both Rose Bowls.

Wish I would have gone to the Holiday bowl but after walking out of Husky stadium after that performance, I wasn't very optimistic.

Suudy is bad luck.

Both Rose Bowls.
I had tickets for the '03 Holiday and for the '13 New Mexico, but circumstances conspired to prevent attendance. I gave my Holiday tickets to a Marine friend who was stationed in SoCal at the time, so that wasn't a total loss....but really wish I could have seen that game live. Apparently he had an outstanding view of Sammy Moore tiptoeing down the sideline.
I ate the NM bowl tickets. Not really disappointed I missed that one. Albuquerque holds no particular fascination, and would have been miserable after watching the choke job we pulled in that game.

Seems pretty clear that the '98 Rose was the better one, but since there's still 2 seconds left in that game I'll withhold judgement until it ends.
