What do you think of Cyler Miles taking a leave of absence?

I think he transfers during the summer. I remember hearing several uw people wanting to bench Keith Price and start Miles two years ago. I remember hearing and reading stories of just how strong and accurate his arm was. Then, he starts this season and we find out his arm was below average. A lot of uw fans turned on him quickly and are happy he is gone.

The uw has to replace it's entire offensive line and a QB. Their defense will be missing several of their best players, many of them will be high draft picks. They do have good skill players at WR and several returning DB's. Still, games are won in the trenches and I think they are going to take a huge step back. As of March 13, I am thinking they finish last in the P12 North.

You know, when I heard he was not going to start spring ball, I thought a multitude of possibilities. 1. Trouble in the OK corral… he did something. 2. New coach and didn't win favor (i.e. "not his recruit"). 3. Injury… but not talking about it.

And all of those could be VERY unrealistic possibilities, I just know so little about that program… They might as well be Tulane.

There were other smaller, even more unrealistic things that ran through my head but the fact that the Oline will be VERY young/inexperienced and the affect that has on a QB is not one I had thought of. How much can that affect a QB? Ask Halliday…

I know so little about the in's-and-out's of that program, I really can't venture a guess regarding why, but I've thought, and continue to think, he's gone. He's only shopping for a new program, right now.

'95, when I see the word "voluntary" associated with a leave of absence, it also suggests some additional possibilities. Most involve some combination of lingering injuries, legal issues, family problems or substance abuse in one form or another.

Usually when a program emphasizes the "voluntary" nature of the absence, they are bending over backwards to suggest that he will be welcomed back.

Little Peter is between a rock and a hard place at QB. He has to be hoping that his latest recruit is a star, but even if it works out that way, it won't happen in time to save this season. Miles was at least a serviceable alternative, and the Husky QB depth is so thin (at least the capable depth), Peter has to be hoping that Miles can play this fall. He may not start at the beginning of the season, but any QB is only one injury away from being out for the season, and UW just does not have a wealth of good QB's.

They do have Jeff Lindquist, and even though Lindquist has not proved himself, he does have an arm, and is a Pro Style QB. I would be stoked if he was a Coug.

Lindquist is horrible. I hope he starts.

I would take Falk anyday over Jeff, but remember, I watched Lindquist on the sidelines at Mercer Island for 3 years, and the guy's got talent, and possibly, (I said possibly) the right stuff. We'll certainly know in time if Lindquist is ever going to make it. Sorry, but it's too early to say "he's horrible". The guys' got the arm, the height, and the style. Whether he's a natural talent with next level destiny remains to be seen.

Husky fans and Peterson have seen enough. Browning is their guy. Lindquist should move to tight end.

Yeah lindquist is a poor mans jake locker. Good athlete...but not as good as locker. Decent arm but not so accurate. He was way overrated out of HS. I'd love it if he started for UW next year. That would not be good for the mutts, and they'd be looking at a 3-4 win season especially losing all of their defensive stars.

Fixed.

I think he is tired of all the Husky fans wishing for another QB, so he is granting them their wish while "taking a leave" from football. I'd be surprised if he comes back, whatever his problems maybe, I hope he gets them sorted out so he can move on in life. I think given time he'll be a fine college QB, but the pressure at the UW to be this superstar at QB is unrealistic. They didn't like Price, the didn't Like Miles, they don't like Lindquist, so the next guy to be the star is Browning, then after losing 3 games in a row next year, they'll be looking at the next guy on the bench.

What is incredible to me is that Cyler Miles, Jeff Lindquist and Troy Williams were all high four star recruits and all were busts.

But wasn't Orson Fetters in charge of rating Husky recruits at the time each signed with the mutts? Remember, he's the genius who said J.R. Hasty was Jonathan Stewart's equal.

Nah, Fetters was fired at scout before they all committed. WSU fans had been complaining to Scout for years about Fetters. But, what got him fired were his reports when Bishop Sankey was committed to WSU and how much they changed when Sankey committed to the uw. They were totally the opposite. Fetters was saying that Sankey was a two star or perhaps a low three star. Sankey switches commitments, then all of a sudden Fetters starts lobbying for his rating to be changed to a high four star.

The only way Lindquist would see the field at EWU is at tight end. Their QB's have skills.

Sub in Portland State or Weber State and you might be on to something.
