It looks like the 2018 recruiting may be done. Now the question is whether or not Franks will return to the cougs for the 2018-2019 season? I will say that the odds are 65-35 in favor on Franks returning. I have seen comments that he would be able to secure an combine invitation and probably be a second round 2019 draft selection if he plays another year.if he does not return will the cougs recruit another big man for this recruiting cycle?

We really need Franks back. I like Chidom but he's probably a year off from consistent offensive production if he continues to develop. Wade most will take time to adjust to P5 like most JCs. Just like we missed Hawkinson a year ago we are going to miss Franks if he stays gone and Flynn.

There's absolutely no point in holding on to a spot. If Franks stays gone I seriously doubt they leave it open. There are still some players out there that are probably at least worth a flyer.

Not sure Franks can play himself into the draft with another year, but I still think there is upside for him in coming back.

As for the Cougs, no matter how good this incoming group is we really need Franks and Daniels experience to have a good chance to jell into a good team next season

I personally don’t see Franks as having much of an nba shot but he can do very well overseas if he chooses. We have had imo better players who had or have better potential that didn’t get hardly a sniff. I don’t think Franks comes back just based on his comments it seemed as if he was done not just testing the waters

I agree with that assessment but players hear what they want to hear.Franks biggest asset is his shooting ability. However a long quick defender would cause him fits in trying to get his shot off. That said,i hope he comes back as he would really help the team,

I thought his earlier comments sounded pretty ominous too, but the fact he still hasnt hired an agent, and the lack of interest at the combine may have tempered his desire to leave

At this point, the only people hoping for Franks to go pro are folks who want the basketball team to stink so maybe Kent gets axed. One Cougar blogger in particular comes to mind.

Franks has a lot he can work on to make him a better pro. If he gets feedback from NBA scouts, they can tell him where to step up his game. Focusing on becoming a dominant rebounder and an above average defender seem like a good place to start. As would working on his low post game or attacking off the dribble from the outside. Both get him to the charity stripe more often. Scouts will tell him what they prioritize, but he could be a lot better by improving 1-2 of these areas in his game.

Franks has the opportunity the become one of the conferences most dominant players, which would set him up to be a great pro. He's already made huge strides but he's not ready yet, that much is obvious, and the NBA's best developmental league is the NCAA.

His best shot is if he can transform himself into a wing. His shooting and even handle is good enough. Its how explosive he can be off the dribble. Thats hard to develop

He can go left for a sweeping shot but does not seem to go to his right. He needs to work hard on trying to develop those skills off the dribble.

He was tentative off the dribble last season. There was a "slow footed" comment from some scout that resonated as well. If he was a few inches taller and projected to a 4 maybe but I'm not seeing him currently a better prospect than Brock Motum. Glad he stayed in school and hope he was paying attention to Mata'afa. It's even harder to stick as a free agent in the NBA.

He needs to take a long range view of things and finish his degree. If he does not make the NBA,he will needs a degree to fall back on. He can make a good living overseas and use his degree when his playing days are over.It is hard to finish a degree when one drops out and attempts to go back.

If I was to give him advice strictly from a basketball point of view with the goal being playing in the nba I would tell him come back to school and develope a rep as a solid defender and a tenacious rebounder. His role on offense in the NBA would be limited to a spot up shooter which is a skill he already has, he has the body and long arms to develope the rebounding and defense. I still think he is a very very long shot to ever play in the NBA. You can always go to school if you want to finish your degree but you only have a certain window of opertunity to make money playing ball. I could see positives for a guy like Franks with both avenues.

Hope Franks comes back, but if not I suspect they will sign another big-man late just like they have done with others recently but no hurry.

Suspect its all about the degree and the importance of that to the young man.

Starting looking for articles about European BB salaries and saw this one about China. At the end is a bit about our own Josh Akognon.
