What would you do for 1 guaranteed CFB Championship?

If you would be guaranteed winning 1 title, would you be willing to have your team/school/coaches go whole hog and start handing out bags of cash to recruits? Would it be worth the likely probation that would follow?

With our history, being on probation would be worth it for me. Obviously real life comes with no such guarantees, but I'd be all in. I've lived with mostly bad football my entire life. What's another decade+ if you have a trophy in hand.

Just a little distraction to ponder to lighten the new coach debate grind.

Umm , is sell my Soul for Nat’l Title in Pasadena at the Rose Bowl an option ?

Nothing more than what I’m currently doing. I’d be thrilled, don’t get me wrong, but I wonder how something like that would change the program and the way I feel about it. An interesting thought though.

Don't know that I would ever go on record giving the thumbs-up to wrongdoing, but let's not forget that our neighbors to the west have a half-trophy in their case from a team nearly 30 years ago which had some stink on it, and they still think today's high schoolers (born in ~2005) lay awake at night dreaming of playing for the Huskies. I mean, Mark Brunell will be 50 years old this year.

If that's them with program stink + a half trophy + 3 decades, imagine us with an undisputed trophy. We may as well shut the program down.

A more likely scenario for us cheating would be along the lines of Ole Miss: program all of a sudden is one of the power programs in the conference but can't get over the hump, until we're discovered and we go back to the basement.

I don't think it would change anything other than having the hardware even it they rescinded it. Getting hammered by the NCAA would be a near certainty. They love to give it to the little guys while ignoring the big schools.

I agree, if it played out in real life. We would fall comically short of winning it all AND then get busted.

Can't remember his nickname, but when I was in the triathlon world there was a guy who would cheat in Ironman races, and then try to use the bling to become a motivational speaker. He was legendary, for all the wrong reasons. There's a reason very few cheat in Ironman triathlons. They remember why they are doing it.

Finman!!! That was it! He hid swimming fins in the shallow part of the lake to up his swim time, and as I recall, took shortcuts in the bike and/or run. Reminds me of SMU and, of course, the UW.

actually it would probably permanently elevate the program, make WSU a national brand and greatly increase revenue. The benefits far out weigh the risks
