When is the Pac-12 going to announce media deal and expansion?

I hope we hear UNLV, Tulane and Memphis are coming. Best markets and best brands.
Fantasize much? None of them are coming. Everyone is laughing at Teresa and the hapless Pac-X.

Have I said "I told you so" lately? :)

The silence surrounding the conference situation is deafening.

If I give Gould the benefit of the doubt and assume she understands the gravity of the situation and getting the league shored up ASAFP, then the reality is that we simple aren't very attractive to teams who might come to the PAC - which would be possible the worst possibility.

If I assume she's a dumbass and doesn't realize the gravity of the situation, then either she can't or won't offer teams enough to switch conferences, which isn't much better but at least can be remedied.

Neither situation is great, which is why the leagues future is dire.

Only every single frikken day. Right there at the bottom of each message.

But don't worry, the announcement is imminent! They will be announcing the new league members at halftime on Saturday, in front of the sold out stadium crowd. There will be AD's, players, and cheerleaders from each of the new PAC members. I am already getting a thrill running up my leg!

All of Canzano, Wilner, Locked On, Big Mountain, etc, are saying that the deadline to add AAC teams, even Tulsa, UNT, Rice, etc, has come and gone in a way.

PAC 12 can still add those teams in a way, but the price, penalties, fees, will double, tripple, for not giving enough notice of joining PAC 12, IF IF they were to join PAC 12.

Because of that, NO WAY AAC teams join PAC 12, even if PAC 12 wins, settles lawsuit favorably to PAC 12.

UNLV, Airforce is still on the table in a way, IF IF PAC 12 wins, settles Lawsuit favorably to PAC 12.

But the MWC needs just only 61 million, out of 145 mil in exit fee's, poaching penalties, and 61 mil is small enough, easy enough if settle, that the MWC, likely will have the minimum 61 million to pay off UNLV, Airforce to stay put in the Mountain West.

That only leaves Texas St, New Mexico St, Sacramento St, NDSU.

And the PAC 12 likely offered Texas St a half share, as the president of Texas St talked about likely metaphorically that he will only have a full bowl of soup, or no soup.

Canzano says that if the PAC 12 doesn't have a media deal, and a 8th football, all sports, member by end of last day of April, May 1st, that that would be the time to panic, as if no deal or 8th football team by June to July 1st at extreme latest, then PAC 12 FCKED.

Way to go Teresa Gould, PAC 12, NOT.

Way to not add UNLV earlier, when added the MWC 4,5.

Way to LOWBALL Memphis, Tulane, USF, UTSA.

Way to LOWBALL Texas St.

Way to insist on getting media deal first before adding 8th football team, that same failed strategy of insisting on media deal first before adding anyone, that led to the disintegration of the PAC 12, the first time.

NOT.

Stretch, I believe you when you say that you are feeling something running up (or down) your leg...but only you can determine if it is actually a thrill, or something else. ;)

I know that you know that I specifically said "Up the leg" in order to pimp Chris Mathews and eliminate you guys from triggering me with your dirty minds. LOL

Got a few links...

John Canzano is on Jason Puckett's show. PAC-12 discussion starts at 14:00 minutes even. Canzano covers some really good topics:
  • "When should PAC-12 fans panic?"
  • Canzano believes PAC-12 went back to talking to UNLV about 2 weeks ago
  • Canzano believes Texas State President soup bowl tweet is in fact a reference to a lowball offer from PAC-12
John Canzano never stops talking, this time on Jason Puckett's show

Canzano & Wilner talking to retired Fox Sports Network President Bob Thompson a few days ago.
Canzano, Wilner & Thompson: nothing we haven't already heard

I honestly don't know who Mike Wittman is, but whoever he is, he's thinking the PAC-12 media deal will be $12M to $14M per school, the best number I've heard in quite a while.
Mike Wittman posts on X

A couple more...

The famous soap bowl tweet:
Texas State's President Kelly Damphouse knows photography

I have not been a fan of this podcast, but he's claiming to have really good info...
Big Mountain Podcast: Sac State to FBS
Another Big Mountain Podcast

I think the Sac State stuff is important because I've been speculating for a few months now that they could do a scheduling agreement with the PAC-12 (Like Beavs & Cougs did with MWC for football). That may very well be what's on the way. As several in this forum have pointed out, Sac State is presently not up to PAC-12 standard.

The tv deal is gonna be $40 and a free Costco membership.

WSU would be better off creating their own broadcast and putting it live on any platform where they can sell subscriptions.

Is Teresa Gould looking at the Rice Owls?

They haven't been too good football in recently, but it's the Houston market and Rice is one of the most highly-rated universities and they've got an $8B endowment if the commissioner asked them not to take a media share.

Pretty sure the new lady president at WSU and her counterpart at OSU would like the academic prestige Rice could deliver

I would go big and get the best brands and markets in the American Conference.

Rice is a AAC college, and as I said in my previous comment, post, ALL AAC teams are practically off the table, because the
deadline to notify AAC has passed, and that if a AAC teams were to leave AAC now that deadline passed, and join PAC 12, the exit fee would, will double, tripple, making it extremely unlikely that any AAC teams, including Memphis, Tulane, USF, UTSA, UNT, Tulsa, Rice, etc, would, will leave AAC, join PAC 12.

It's NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

It could be we look at a team like Wyoming just to get us to 8. Wyoming and CSU have a rivalry. Wyoming doesn't bring a ton of TV eyeballs, but they do check some boxes, namely if they are willing to take less media money.

It feels like the Pac-12 botched this....yet again....and should have grabbed UNLV when the door was open.

My understanding was that the door was never really open for UNLV. From the beginning of this process, UNR was reported to be acting politically to stop UNLV from leaving for the PAC. Long story short, I don't know if we actually blew an opportunity; I think it was more that we did not pursue it as aggressively as we might have, as early as we might have. But even if we had done so, I don't think it was a foregone conclusion that they would have come along.

P-12 botched this when Sgt Schultz made his grand unity speech at the altar the night before the wedding.

P-10 of the 12 got on the bachelor party bus and left for a bigger party with a cuter bride.

Nothing is going to change that so, let’s just keep spending and pretending until the $$$$ is all gone.

The best long-term strategy is consolidating the best G5 programs and markets to create a true national conference. Conference name might have to be rebranded.

That's my understanding as well. The Pac offered UNLV the same deal as SDSU, etc. Initially they wouldn't leave Nevada and the Pac balked at adding Nevada. The MW offered UNLV $$ to stay. Later it was rumored UNLV went back to the Pac at some point and asked for the initial offer, but with Pac money tied up with those that came and litigation the initial offer was no longer on the table.

As I said before, the MWC only needs to get at least 61 million from a settled PAC 12 lawsuit, in order to pay UNLV and every single MWC team to stay put in the MWC.

The MWC only needs to get 61 million out of 145 million in combined exit fees/poaching fees.

This practically almost takes all MWC teams off the table, unless PAC 12 wins lawsuit, which would take long enough, that either the deadline to notify MWC would pass, doubling, trippling exit fees for whichever MWC team would leave MWC to join PAC 12, or winning lawsuit could take so long that it could cause PAC 12 to not get a 8th football member by the deadline to be a conference.

But it's still theoretically possible, PAC 12 could get a MWC team, despite being extremely unlikely, improbable, almost impossible, etc.

So again, like I said before the ONLY teams on the table is Texas St(If they not offended by half share lowball offer from PAC 12, and if PAC 12 offers a FULL SHARE to Texas St in future), New Mexico St, NDSU.

And like I said before, Teresa Gould has FCKED UP.

Teresa Gould was a Pac-12 admin - yes the same Pac-12 admin that oversaw the demise of the conference. We should have went with an outsider from another successful conference. Schulz wanted to sub-optimize things.

I kinda doubt the pool of candidates was spectacular.

Wow! Thanks for posting! Had not heard any of this before. Makes sense that Nevada might be tied to UNLV as this has happened in other places (like North Carolina?).

Jon Wilner with nothing new (media rigths & Sac State)

What pool Gibby? There was no pool. No search. They just anointed the incompetent bitch. Same with Anne McCoy.

You know that. Why do you keep posting stupid shit that you know is not accurate?

I guess you just want to hear people tell you that the reverse merger was the right call.

And please tell us who should have been hired? Remember the PAC-12 was two teams then.

You guess wrong, counselor. "People", such as every other sports fan board in the world, agree that the reverse merger was the way to go. The thread on the WCS board is up to 177 pages. 176 of which is full of fans saying how F-ing stupid and backstabbing the Pac-2 is/was. And what chumps the Traitorous 5 were for believing our BS promises. "Swinging for the fences" per Teresa in September. Remember?

That said, answer my question - what pool of candidates? There wasn't one. So you tell me who should have been hired? Or do you think Teresa and Anne were home run hires?

You mean the Alaska Air PacMtn Conference, correct? Just admit it. The Mighty Loyal One has been spot on for a year now. But in my typically Benevolent and Caring fashion, I will forgive all you lemmings.
