When was the last time

There was a point where we had Dan Wagner play and Levenseller back him up after Lopina or Lobster died? It was then.

Gesser was on the roster in 99 and Brink in O7, but the point is acknowledged. Cam and de Laura officially end what was Leach's biggest disappointed -- high school QB recruiting. His best HS QB walked on, the next best clearly was emotionally ill equipped for the challenges of Power 5 football.

Thats a pretty big assumption. The offenses hasn't exactly been lighting it up even with him in there.
but he runs around and makes it look good.

The OL and skill positions are too good to look this pathetic.

"Emotionally ill equipped"? Just say CTE

JG is a 5th year senior (or grad transfer). He didn't look like a player with a lot of experience.
JDL may or may not have won this game but it would have at least served as an investment in his future. I think he would have make a difference in the 2nd half with his running ability alone.

Assuming that he is not ready to go next week, do the Cougs go with JG or CC.
There should be some competition this week in practice.

Guarantono has no internal clock & can’t make a decision to throw it away. he will be the sackEd monster in the future, if he remains the qb. He’s barely serviceable.

He would have avoided most of those sacks.
still doesn't move the sticks. Utahs D is quick.

JG can't even audible to a hot route with a blitz staring him in the face. He's can't or won't stretch the field (that was open all day in cover 1/2), and defeats the purpose of a rpo by never keeping.

JDL can't make a read past the first and sails every ball down field. He still doesn't look like he understands the offense that he has had 2 years in plus HS.

Cooper and Gabalis - just no.

Top to bottom, there is a fundamental lack of understanding of what their job is and how to execute it. Maybe it's coaching, idk, but none of these kids will get it done at WSU.

the cougars didn't have a serviceable qb on the roster? 99? 98? 07? 08?
I can’t remember when the Cougs did less with more. Maybe Brink/Ghost years? There’s easily enough talent on this team for an 8-4 year considering how bad the conference is. Unreal.

it was the Menkebaum days with Deeds coming in, but those were good Cougs fighting til the end..... this now is unwatchable.

nah, there are some huge deficiencies team wide.

Having zero depth, and I mean ZERO across the board is a killer. I can't name another LB other than Woods and Rodgers (THEY MUST BE INCREDIBLY FIT TO NEVER NEED A BREAK!!!)

The guards and center not only can't physically block, they get confused by junior high line stunts. No one was communicating (the center's job) on assignments when Utah showed blitz.

We do have some nice talent in places, but I don't think it's enough to make up for where they are lacking, as is evidenced on the field.

Well there is a huge part of the problem . What they see in 77 is beyond me. I thought per one poster you just plug in Kingston , no worries up front . Ryan is way out of position . They are so use to wide splits and just getting in front of people when asked to be more traditional they have really struggled .

We have two qbs that are coach killers . JG looks great in warm ups. Throuws a nice ball 80% of the time and either wasn’t coached or can’t grasp what it means to be a web.

The Wr have no feel for the game either . On one of the last throws , it was a slant, the receiver ran right into the linebacker . If he stuck his foot in the ground and went to the sideline he is still running .

Coaches look bad when there is a shortage of talent at the wrong positions. We is one of them .

So I don’t know how you effectively evaluate rolo with JG and JDL as your qbs .

But not sure it will come down to that

Couch killers?

Ed, it is all coaching. The OL and WRs are good enough to get wins. They look bad because Rolo is a shite coach.

Deeds was interviewed for a book. Have you been interviewed for a book?

He can’t be all bad …
Was it a cook book?

Doubt the book was on successfully leading WSU to a bowl game in 1993.

Deeds & his teammates at QB after Pattinson went down were worse than what we are seeing in 2021.

JDL is a freshman in terms of experience. You obviously play him if he’s healthy. JG can’t pre snap read. He can’t. And he’s never going to learn.

08 or 09 sounds right. I think 07 was Brink sr year.
2008 was Lopina, Rogers, Lobbestael, and Levenseller.
First 3 went down, and I think Levy was walking wounded too. Lopina was a game time decision for the USC game, Wagner was on emergency standby to be our 5th string starter. The had open QB tryouts on campus.

Should have played Wagner. Still would have been 69-0, but at least he could have tried to throw.

Lev started the Hawaii game in Hawaii. Terrible times.

Ok, barring injury would you (or anyone) say that Rogers, Lopina, Lobster, or Levy were serviceable quarterbacks? That being, not going to lose the game for us with an adequate supporting staff.

I think Rogers had the potential to be serviceable if he had a good OL in front of him. As I recall, he got hurt in the Cal game in 2006 when he and Brink were enjoying their QB controversy. Followed up by getting hurt once he was coached by Wulff.
