Why does Leach talk so softly about coaching failures?

But so heavily and negatively about player failures? Last nights defensive scheme was absurd. Even he had to know it, despite never paying attention to that side of the team. From an OC and Air Raid Perspective, it would have been like Air Force lining up in a stacked 4-3-4, playing the run, and playing CB’s 8 yards off the line of scrimmage. He couldn’t even be bothered to address that in game? And we supposed to just go along with it? Reading his quotes are damning this morning. He talks as much about how he and staff have reach record bowl games, then the insane lack of awareness they displayed coaching. How do you not take points against a team that controls the ball 70% of the time. Just crazy.

They’re gonna fix it in the off season though he says, at least we got that. While our strength coach has guys doing air squats and eating soy ice cream.

He is not the most accountable coach and never has been. I really thought you all would win last night.

Personally, I don’t think he should make apologies as the coach. His comments last night were on the mark. We underperformed this season and had opportunities to be better.

We had some issues on offense, but the defensive side of the ball prevented us from winning 8 games. Bottom line though, this wasn’t a good team. Add
up the w/l record of the teams we beat and you’ll see that.

Inconsistent QB play combined with a porous undermanned defense where the dc quit mid season = .500 team.

it is what it is

only one way to go and that’s up

Interestingly, Leach took at least a little blame in his post game comments with Alex Brink. Regarding the two 4th down runs by Borghi inside the 5 yard line, he said the first run should've been successful (which I'm reading as it wasn't blocked properly). But the second run he said that he wished he had called a different play. Makes me wonder if Leach was indeed calling some or many of the plays last night and not leaving it up to Gordon.

Glad Cougar

I'm pretty sure that Leach usually calls the base play but the QB always has the right to audible out of it.
