Its so dumb... Asking a few dozen student employees and a handful of cops to prevent thousands in the stands from storming the field? They'll lose that battle every single time. We shouldn't have rushed the field for Boise State (even though it was a heck of a win), and the University shouldn't have been fined. Rushing the field is the kind of dumb fun that makes college athletics so special.
Normally, beating BSU wouldn't have been worth storming the field for, but given the 21 point comeback, I'm not as disappointed as I normally might have been. FWIW, the kids in the stands who watched that game and stormed the field are far more likely to end up with cherished memories and be season ticket holders than if they had gotten held at bay by a bunch of yellow windbreaker wearing bouncers. We'll get that $25k back in future ticket sales.

Just tack it on as an expense for the bowl trip. The conference pays the fine itself. Accounting awesome.
