They played solid ball, we didnt.
UW played SEMI solid BUTSHETLUCKY ball.
UW NORMALLY, USUALLY TERRIBLLY BAD SHOOTING PERCENTAGE from inside the 3, from 3 point line, from freethrow line. Only thing they are decent in is rebounding, and they got outrebounded about 40 to 20. Usually UW shoots 40% from inside 3 line, 31% from 3 line, 65% from freethrow line.
UW BUTLUCKED 50% from 3 line, and 50% from inside 3 line, and the 10 UW steals, was more WSU shooting itself in foot, with largely either unforced turnovers, or lazy ball handling, lazy passes. .
This should have been a game that WSU wins by 15 to 45 points based on comparative season STATS..
Meanwhile WSU's inside the 3 line shooting has been 48% this season so far. 3 point shooting has been 36%, and WSU has some AWESOME 3 point shooters that in temporary slumps, or would be at least 39.5% 3 point shooting instead of 36% on the season.
WSU was at 1 point 1 out of 10 3 point shots and was terribly bad from 3 point range. That did NOT happen due to Jacking up BAD 3 point shots.
WSU got a lot of GOOD WIDE OPEN 3 point shots that were taken by GOOD 3 point shooters, that came from the natural flow of offense, as evidenced by 12, TWELVE ASSIST.
If WSU was just Jacking up bad 3's nonstop, WSU would only have about 3,4,5,6 Assist, instead of 12.
A GOOD OFFENSE GETS WIDE OPEN 3'S, THAT ARE THEN SHOT, TAKEN BY GOOD 3 POINT SHOOTERS.
GOOD OFFENSES DO NOT TURN DOWN, NOT TAKE, NOT SHOOT WIDE OPEN 3'S BY GOOD 3 POINT SHOOTERS, JUST BECAUSE THE GOOD 3 POINT SHOOTERS ARE GETTING EXTREMELY UNLUCKY AND MISSING A LOT OF SUPER WIDE OPEN 3 POINT SHOTS.
GOOD OFFENSES, PLAYERS, COACHES, ETC, KEEP ON TAKING, SHOOTING THOSE WIDE OPEN 3 POINT SHOTS, IF THEY ARE GOOD SHOOTERS.
If a team, player is a BAD 3 point shooter(s), then they should not shoot even wide open 3 point shots.
But that's not the case with WSU, because WSU has GOOD 3 POINT SHOOTERS.
Even the best 3 point shooters go on missing streaks. Klay 1 of the best 3 point shooters ever had missing streaks, and he still took, shot wide open 3's despite that, LIKE HE WAS SUPPOSED TO DO.
If you think WSU is just Jacking up bad 3's, nonstop, etc, and that WSU and it's GOOD 3 point shooters need to stop shooting wide open 3's, then you know nothing about what a good offense is, and know nothing about what good coaching is.
The only thing your right about is that WSU had a extremely ultimate bad 22 turnovers. That's on the players, and on the coaching, even if the coaching is working on that with the players each and every practice.
22 turnovers is UNACCEPTABLE. The team needs to take better care of the ball, have better ball handling, not make bad passes, not travel, not palm ball, not double dribble, not step out of bounds, not do over and backs, not foul on, by moving screens, not take 7 to 10 to 13 seconds to advance the ball upcourt past half court line, not take more then 5 sec to inbound ball, etc.
If it wasnt for the 22 turnovers, and extremely unlucky shooting by WSU, and the extremely butlucky shooting by UW, WSU would have won by 5 to 7 to 10 to 13 to 17 points.
At least WSU outboarded UW by about 40 to 20, as something to build upon in the future.
That said WSU has 3 Quad 1 wins against 1. Bradley. 2. BSU. 3. Nevada, and was 9-2, and still a ok 9-3, and just had a unlucky bad game vs UW, and will still probably rip thru most of the WCC, and will probably be about 22-9, 21-10, 20-11, 19-12, 23-8, 24-7, at end of season.
Having 3 Quad 1 wins in the noncon is NOT bad coaching. It's good coaching.
Also remember that this is Riley's FIRST year, that lost all but 2 players, so 12 players lost, and that tho replaced by AWESOME players, they are STILL NEW FACES, and that that there would probably be the occasional BURP, HICCUP, that it would take some time to develop, have chemistry, learn how to play together, learn how to win together, clean up things like turnovers(Turnovers partially can happen when players are new to each other, haven't developed, don't have chemistry, still learning to play together, when a team loses 12 players, and replaced by 12 NEW players, etc)
Add to that the 3,4,3.5 injuries, especially the injuries to Cedric Coward, Wilson.
If Coward, Wilson not injured, then no way in hell that have 22 turnovers, and lose to UW.
