WSU vs EWU Gamethread

Really like Houinsou’s game. Very athletic at 6-6. He needs all of Darlings minutes. Gonna be good.

Got Rodman, Mael back, but Smith goes SMALL, with 1. Dylan 2. Powell 3. Jabe 4. Bamba(BAMBA IS NOT A 4, PF SMITH), 5. Gueye.

Then WSU, altho good defense, good shooting, steals, etc, GETTING OWNED, CRUSHED ON THE BOARDS, REBOUNDS, BY EWU, but DESPITE that, still have 15 point lead.

Smith adjusted by putting Rodman in at the 4, PF, replacing Bamba at the 4, and having Diongue back up Gueye at center, and get a little back up time at 4 spot.

Smith really needs to have 1 of either Diongue or Crespin back up Gueye at Center, and have the other 1 of either Diongue or Crespin START at the 4, PF spot.

And at worst it should be Gueye at 5, Rodman at 4, PF.

Especially when they are getting OUT REBOUNDED AND AGAINST BIG LINEUPS LIKE OREGON, ETC.

Under 5, shooting a better percentage from 3 (53.6%) than on 2s and from the line (5-10).

76 to 52, 24 point lead, time to put whole Bench in with about 4 minutes left to avoid more injuries.

Now WSU, Smith really needs to get Jaki back, AND OR start either Diongue or Mael Crespin at the 4 vs Detroit next game to get ready for Oregon on road that after Detroit.

Having a 1. Dylan 2. Powell 3. Jabe 4. Bamba(NOT A 4 SMITH, HE IS A 2,3, NOT A 4), 5. Gueye IS NOT A GOOD WAY TO EITHER GET READY OR PLAY OREGON.

Can get away with that BS starting line up vs EWU(who STILL OWNED WSU ON REBOUNDS, BOARD), because it's BIG SKY EWU.

But try that BS line up vs OREGON, etc, then there is going to be problems.

If anything it would be Gueye moved to the 4 not Dion or Crespin. Dion imo is all 5 at this point. Amazing shooting display. I like the look of both Darling and Houinsou. Neither are going to fill up the stat sheet this year and both are different players but I see solid potential from both our freshman guards.

THE GENERAL POINT IS THAT WHETHER ITS GUEYE AT 5 AND EITHER DIONGUE OT CRESPIN AT 4, OR WHETHER ITS DIONGUE AT 5, AND GUEYE AT 4, WSU, SMITH NEEDS TO PLAY, START, BOTH GUEYE AND EITHER DIONGUE OR CRESPIN SIDE BY SIDE IN THE FRONTCOURT IN THE 4,5 SPOTS TOGETHER UNLESS JAKI IS AVAILABLE, AND IF JAKI IS AVAILABLE GUEYE SHOULD START AT 5 AND JAKI SHOULD START AT 4.

ENOUGH WITH THIS BS GUEYE AT 5, AND EITHER POWELL OR JABE OR HOUINSOU, OR BAMBA, 4 GUARDS AND GUEYE SHET.

Gueye at 5, and Rodman at 4, is just barely tolerable, semi somewhat semi ok.

But Smith is not even doing that, even tho he got Rodman back.

This is almost as stupid as when Sampson went 4 guard, and when Bone, Boneheadedly started 6-6, thin, stick, UNathletic, etc, SLOW, 3 spotter, Lodwick at 4 spot.

At least Sampson, Bone was RAZOR THIN at Frontcourt.

Having Gueye, Diongue, Mael Crespin, Rodman, IS NOT THIN AT FRONTCOURT.

Imo Gueye, Dion, Rodman and Crespin is a very very thin front court. I agree we need more size but you have to play with what you got and unfortunately if Jaki isn’t back we are going to have to go with a lot of small lineups. Even with Jaki we will be grossly undersized in PAC 12 play. Hopefully we can get something from Dion or Crespin in that regard but I don’t see much so far that would indicate they are going to produce much this year. What we really need is both Jackson and Jaki back so we can let the freshmen big men develop slowly.

We desperately need Jakimovski and Rodman back to full strength.

It looks like it's going to take Diongue and Crespin a lot of time just to provide minimal minutes. They aren't where Efe, Jackson, or Gueye were year 1.

Having 4, Four in BACKCOURT is NOT BAD, NOT EXTREMELY RAZOR THIN.

It's deep enough where you could have Diongue and Gueye starting, playing together, and Mael Crespin back up at 5, and Rodman back up at 4, and be able to ROTATE 4 BIGS AT 2 SPOTS.

Ideally, you want 5,6 bigs, and at least Jaki back, and at best Jackson back, but that's not possible, not gonna happen any time either soon, immediately.

As you say, you go with what have, which means you go Gueye and either Diongue or Crespin starting, playing, in together and Backed up by either Diongue or Crespin and Rodman, and Rotating, cycling those 4, and not going with 4 guards.

At worst you go with Gueye and Rodman starting, playing together, and Rotating, cycling the 4 bigs

Dion and Crespin are not ready for major minutes and if we have to give them major minutes we must be crazy thin up front.

Rodman was, is back.
