I’m wondering if the plane was coming apart as it came down. It wasn’t up that high and had just taken off, so if something broke loose it might explain the distribution of debris as well as the sudden plummet.

Obviously this is speculation. Some of the videos looked like the plane was in flames (especially the rear, near the engines) when it was going down. A lot of people have probably seen or been on a flight where birds get sucked into the engine and cause a compressor stall. Most of the time on a commercial airliner it's no big deal. For a smaller aircraft it's more dangerous. I don't know if a Learjet can fly on one engine or not. Either one compressor stall due to bird ingestion combined with damage to the aircraft, or compressor stalls for both engines could be a reason for a plane to fall out of the sky like that. Combine a bird strike with some fan blades that have cracks or other defects, or something like that.
In spite of appearances, there is a logic to this. NTSB has always used social media for announcements and updates. With two serious incidents within days, they’re doubtless being inundated with e-mail requests for information that they can’t possibly respond to. This allows them to put information out once, and puts the onus on media outlets to go get it, rather than having to push the same information out through 1,000 separate e-mails.
The best option would be to do both. Set up the web site AND use twitter/X. Seems pretty logical to me.
I don’t disagree, it’s just that we’re in the FA exposure phase and new info is being added realtime. It makes sense to me to keep info and discussion consolidated, for now. As we move toward FO, I agree fully.
X has the capability and capacity for big news and data dumps. Who knows if the NTSB does.
