Color me unimpressed. I figured on UConn or UMass on the road. Not impressive either, but JMU is less so. Although they have been FBS for - 3 years counting 2024. Good job Anne - not.geezus.
I'm just not seeing P4 in our future ever again.
Which is fine, I just got convinced by half this board that it might be possible.
Its also not great to TV viewership. Just as no one wants to see it live, no one is going to want to watch it on TV either. The only two exciting games on the schedule next season are back-to-back away games at Ole Miss, then UVA. Big yikes.
Losing 100+ years of tradition and teams you played will matter. I know people will show up specifically for WSU, but the opponent does matter. I get WSU doesn't always fill the stadium or even has fans stay a whole four quarters, but it's likely to look even more bleak moving forward.
You do realize that 2025 is a one off, stop gap schedule. And let's not forget that the Pac-12 had been dreadful for the better part of 20 years prior to 2023, and that is why there was no serious media money being offered, hence the break up.The only two exciting games on the schedule next season are back-to-back away games at Ole Miss, then UVA. And then it's: SDSU, Boise State, Colorado St, Fresno State, Utah State, Oregon State yearly for football? The 2025 schedule is what the future looks like: low TV viewership and $$.You do realize that 2025 is a one off, stop gap schedule. This is it. Every school is trying to eek every cent out of anything to have $ to opt into rev sharing. Guaranteed any will you come play at WSU correspondence got back, “for 1-2m”, just as we were doing with the MW. Not sure where it came to the point we thought we were gonna line up P4 teams to come play us in Oct and Nov during their conference play. And we already have UVA and Ole Miss on the road, and CSU+ JMU+ UNT are no slouches. So it was probably pay out the ass for lower tier D1 or go on the road.I bet teams with openings probably tried to pull a MWC and bend WSU over a barrel. This was the budget option.
Or it’s cool. We love to have TTU, BYU, Wisconsin etc visit our house. Why did we become better than playing at a smaller school? Its just football, and a one off year. What's really is said is this, taken off the office James Madison website:
"The Dukes host WSU on Nov. 22, 2025, as the Pac-12 Conference member will be the highest-profile program ever to play JMU at Bridgeforth Stadium."
That my friends, is very sad.
I think the bigger question is whether our players will hang around to play that schedule. Some will get offers, and that schedule will get them neither NIL paydays or media exposure.I'm not blown away by the schedule....but it's going to be an interesting year with a lot of new opponents. What it will really tell us is what kind of fans do we have. Are they a bunch of whiny bitches who only watch WSU when we play big name opponents or do we support our team no matter what?
It is kind of hilarious that we will playing against JMU and Virginia that are 2,500 miles from Pullman but only 57 miles away from each other.
Unless they want to have another 11-1 year!I think the bigger question is whether our players will hang around to play that schedule. Some will get offers, and that schedule will get them neither NIL paydays or media exposure.
At least the only back to back home games are at the start, in the good/great Pullman weather. Back to back travels to Miss and VA will be a killer. Guess I'll see if I can afford a trip to MIssissippi and then golfing/touristing my way to VA.Or it’s cool. We love to have TTU, BYU, Wisconsin etc visit our house. Why did we become better than playing at a smaller school? Its just football, and a one off year.
You are so correct. Playing an ACC and SEC team in their stadiums will provide no media exposure. WTF? Plus the B1G team that we play at home.I think the bigger question is whether our players will hang around to play that schedule. Some will get offers, and that schedule will get them neither NIL paydays or media exposure.
So we are in agreement that the schedule is simultaneously too hard and lackluster?
When you are considering the options, ask yourself, who do you think wants to play WSU?
Right now- nobody.
We are the worst of both worlds- potentially fairly competitive but little in terms of prestige. ADs and Coaches around the country saw what happened to Texas Tech, Washington and Wisconsin. Those fanbases were just as pissed they were playing WSU as they were pissed they lost to WSU.
Scheduling at WSU was always impossible, and now it is worse.
We are better-off playing easier games and winning. If we turn into a losing program again we will never crawl out of that hole.
I think you mean it’s here.JMU and traveling to Virginia twice in a season is a major head scratcher. But the counter to this I am sure is there were VERY few options.
I personally like the week zero idea and 3 bye weeks during the season.
We signed up for Jim Sterk the second when they promoted Anne. It was a budget move and she's going to be the budget queen and start doing everything on the cheap. It's coming....
And we’re broke, so no big payday. So we are in agreement that the schedule is simultaneously too hard and lackluster?

I don’t think they’re broke, I think they’re holding all $ they can for rev sharing. USU is paying their way out of MWC. Many other schools are paying most. Suing to not pay poaching fees. With 2031 realignment seemingly the big reset for a single conference, I think WSU and OSU are hoarding everything to be able to pay to stay competitive and opt into rev sharing. It’s broke if you look at it one way, but in reality it’s to keep the money available for the most important thing. And we’re broke, so no big payday.
With rare exception past schedules didn't created excitement either over the past two decades. That's why conference TV ratings and attendance were dropping and the bowl tie-ins were awful. I think you are wearing rose colored glasses a bit. Beyond the Apple Cup, and some isolated early season games against Oregon, before they would get exposed as wildly overrated, virtually every P-12 game was a yawner. Another Holliday Bowl under Leach - yawn. The last time USC was worth a damn was when Pete Carroll was there. P-12 did give us built in strength of schedule, but ultimately, wins create excitement, not a better strength of schedule. An early November game at home against Cal or Fresno, will get the same buzz. The "excitement" now must come from WSU's struggle to win P-4 promotion and to gain a playoff birth as a non-P-4 school, not a tilt with a Sun Devil or Bruin team coming to town, if that is what one calls excitement. And then it's: SDSU, Boise State, Colorado St, Fresno State, Utah State, Oregon State yearly for football? Will it be as bad as I am making it? Probably not. But I have a very hard time believing schedules starting in 2026 will create much excitement.
If you expect fans to care even more with new conference foes, I think you're the one wearing the rose colored glasses. With rare exception past schedules didn't created excitement either over the past two decades. If the Athletic Department is not repainting the letters and numbers for rows in the stadium, or replacing the seat numbers, it means we’re broke.I don’t think they’re broke, I think they’re holding all $ they can for rev sharing. Not erecting a Bob Robertson statue, either they're broke, or they don't know what they don't know, or they don't know who he was.If the Athletic Department is not repainting the letters and numbers for rows in the stadium, or replacing the seat numbers, it means we’re broke.
In crayon -- Having something to play for, like the playoffs, trumps a regular P-12 game or slate. We are in a position to make a playoff run regularly now, yeah against and on the backs of lesser opponents. Had the P-12 continued, the same could not be said. 2018 being the sole highlight in the post Price era. Our lone potentially playoff calibre team. Nothing oozed excitement more than a 5-5 Coug team playing 4-6 Stanford team in November, which was the norm under Leach. A 10-1 Coug team going into the Wyoming game, that is an event and a national story, even though Wyoming ain't remotely an exciting opponent, and even if we get shut out of the playoffs ultimately. If you expect fans to care even more with new conference foes, I think you're the one wearing the rose colored glasses.
Agree completely, but unfortunately I see us losing to Oregon State or New Mexico. In crayon -- Having something to play for, like the playoffs, trumps a regular P-12 game or slate. Uhh, I watched the WYO at New Mexico game yesterday. Both are bad. I mean, really bad. Zero defense, and both teams looked liked FCS level, especially The Lobos. University Stadium looked 70% empty.Agree completely, but unfortunately I see us losing to Oregon State or New Mexico.
Are we watching the same team week after week?Uhh, I watched the WYO at New Mexico game yesterday. Both are bad. I mean, really bad. Zero defense, and both teams looked liked FCS level, especially The Lobos. University Stadium looked 70% empty.
If we happen to lose one game, it would at Oregon State, not necessarily a Trap Game, but a game the Beavers might want more then us, as we would be going into Corvallis 9-1.
And here I was told we had enough $$ to add 30K seats! If the Athletic Department is not repainting the letters and numbers for rows in the stadium, or replacing the seat numbers, it means we’re broke.
“Keep their foot ON the gas”? For three games we’ve barely gotten out of 2nd gear! Are we watching the same team week after week?
BSU just DESTROYED a team we struggled mightily with. Granted, we should have dominated SDSU, but we didn't.
I expect similar results the rest of the year. Whether is the OC or the players or both, the inability of the offense to keep the foot on the gas is a real and persistent issue.
Like I said....WYO and New Mexico are not good football teams. They really are bad. The only bright talent is the QB for the Lobos. Are we watching the same team week after week?

It sure isn't the cheerleading squad.....Like I said....WYO and New Mexico are not good football teams. They really are bad. The only bright talent is the QB for the Lobos.
