4 star TE verbals

Look at the offer list. 4 stars are being handed out like Halloween candy now.
Copying my post from another thread.........

In other news, Cougs signed yet another Jackrabbit transfer, TE Beau Baker, who was injured in 2024. Not sure how 24/7 ever had him ranked as a 4-star recruit, although SDSU did fend off powerhouse FBS - oops - middling and doormat NAIA programs Cumberlands and Kentucky Christian when they signed him last year.

I do like 6'7" and 245 lbs in a TE.

Dallas Goedert & Tucker Kraft are two of the best TEs in the NFL and both played for SDSU. There were 8 SDSU players on active rosters in 2024. WSU had 12.

I don't think anyone is popping the champagne on Jimmy Rogers at this stage of the game, but the SDSU players we're bringing in are in-line with the players we've historically recruited. He's also signed more OL/DL kids than Dickert did throughout his entire tenure.

If he sucks, we'll get rid of him.

As of January 2025, several South Dakota State University players are currently on NFL rosters. Here are some of the notable players:

  • Dallas Goedert: A tight end for the Philadelphia Eagles, drafted in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
  • Tucker Kraft: A tight end for the Green Bay Packers, drafted in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
  • Pierre Strong: A running back for the New England Patriots, drafted in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
  • Mason McCormick: An offensive lineman for the Pittsburgh Steelers, drafted in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
  • Isaiah Davis: A running back for the New York Jets, drafted in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
  • Christian Rozeboom: An offensive lineman for the Denver Broncos, though not directly listed as a South Dakota State alumnus, he played collegiately there.
  • Chris Steveler: An offensive lineman for the Indianapolis Colts, though not directly listed as a South Dakota State alumnus, he played collegiately there.
  • C.J. Ham: A running back for the Minnesota Vikings, though not directly listed as a South Dakota State alumnus, he played collegiately there.
  • Jack Cochrane: A defensive back for the Kansas City Chiefs, though not directly listed as a South Dakota State alumnus, he played collegiately there.
  • Dennis Gardeck: A linebacker for the Arizona Cardinals, though not directly listed as a South Dakota State alumnus, he played collegiately there.
These players represent a strong presence of South Dakota State University alumni in the NFL.

when did C.J. play for SDSU?
He didn't. He played at (as you already know fro) at Augustana University in Sioux Falls. Only 57 miles from the SDSU campus in Brookings, so I understand the confusion. Not. These geographical confusions are similar to Pullman being in the Midwest. Can't wait to hear reports from our new FB players after they scale Kamiak Mountain and Mount Steptoe.

A lot of you guys should bite the bullet and head over to Cougfan. At least there are objective discussions about our programs. This site needs to be killed off.

You feel free to go first buddy. Bye.

And I almost choked on my beer reading your post. "Cougfan....objective discussions"? What f-ing ever. Like our new "4 star" TE. Mentioned in their article title, and twice in the article. Never mind that his only original offers besides SDSU were two NAIA schools. One middling, one shitty program. Didn't notice those facts in the Cougfan article. Yeah, that's my definition of "objective discussions".

What is laughable is how hard Brand X is working to present every Jackrabbit (and Cal Poly) commitment as being all-world. And if perchance some P4 or G5 school allegedly made an offer way back when then it is a major coup that they chose the Cougs. Last I looked (link below) SDSU had 21 players hit the portal. 5 signed with P4 schools, the rest came to WSU. Their 4 incoming transfers are all from P4 schools. One could surmise that SDSU did a better job in the portal than WSU, quality-wise.

I love this site; however, the idiots are getting a bit boring. It's free so we can't be milquetoast
Hmmm. I agree with you 100%! :) Although curious to know who you consider the idiots. Not the Always Insightful yet Mirth-filled Loyal One of course. :)

And I'm sorry, "we can't be milquetoast"? No idea what you mean there, and I like milquetoast......

This site does have some extra negatives, but I enjoy the extremes. Makes for louder posts

and you're sure it's just one?
I have become great at skimming and then if it is dumb, forgetting what I read quickly.
Anytime one of you subscribers wants to start a thread on the premium board I'll hop right over and converse. Although we'd have to put up with Gibby :), but I can handle it........

The objective discussions are within the comments.

You bash that site as being too gleeful from the editors but what would you expect? It's a COUG "fan" site for god's sake.

Remember what happened last time they tried to be "objective journalists"? They got killed for exposing Leach's dalliance with Tennessee. A ton of the criticism came from their very own subscribers. That coverage got them snubbed by Leach at the press conferences. Locked out by the team they were founded on covering.

I have no problem with them puffing up the recent recruits and giving positive coverage of a team that sorely needs promotion amongst it's fan base. Plus, there's A LOT of really plugged in folks over there with regards to NIL, find raising and recruiting. That's all I have to say about that

The extremes as in politics...has gotten old. WE used to enjoy some common ground. Picture of Tip O'neille having a beer.
Oh yeah... but it is fun to light some fires. Talking more at the Sports Tavern with it being overcrowded and music / tv's blazing.

I see posters on here almost insecure at times where it becomes a noise reduced Starbucks.

Go with what you got and if you think/know someone is a dumbass, tell them they are and be happy you're not.

I can name numerous peeps on this site that I think swing from the wrong side of the plate politically, but I greatly appreciate the football discussions.

No shame mayne.

Well I hear you on this. But being a homer is one thing. Jumping up and down and massively inflating the credentials of every Jackrabbit that hops in borders on ridiculous. Oh, 4-star TE! Uh no, contrary to the silly rankings, he was offered by 2 NAIA schools. Similar with our 100% no FBS experience coaching staff. Hopefully they will be great. Right now they are woefully inexperienced. So stop acting like they are the illegitimate children of Bill Belichick and Nick Saban.

If they were to say "hey, given the timing, our only real option was/is to bring in 25+ Jackrabbits, along with their coaches, install the new system, and go up from there" I would be clapping and cheering. But when you poach a coach and a couple of players from Paul Wulff and Cal Poly (3-8 the last 2 years) and act like we've just won the lottery? Give me a f-ing break.

As far as Leach goes? Didn't a Brand X reporter camp out at Pullman International Airport and basically stalk Leach? Uh, dude, don't F with Mike Leach.

You don’t see WSU in the CFP.

OK, fine.

But, you’re old.

It’s a young man’s game now. Watch. You just might learn something.

Um Dude, there are TRANSFERS, that when they are rated out of High School are 2 stars, and only have Div 2, NAIA offers, etc, goto a FCS, and either get drafted into NFL, or enter the transfer portal, GET RERATED, RERANKED as a 4, FOUR star transfer player recruit, get 4 mil NIL Deals, then play 1, 2 years at new G5, P4, semi blue blood, etc, new college, then get drafted as a 1st round draft pick into NFL, despite only being rated 2 stars, in HS, and only getting NAIA, Div 2 offers, coming out of Highschool.

6-6.5 250 pound TE Baker is the same as that except that we don't know how big a NIL deal he will get, if any, and we don't know if he will get drafted into NFL.

We do know that he was about a 2.5 star coming out of HS. And we know that he only got Div 2, NAIA, FCS offers, coming out of Highschool. And we know that he has been rerated, reranked number of stars wise from a 2.5 star to a 4 star Transfer Portal Recruit, player, by ALL the so called EXPERTS, and that he has G5 offers, Low ended P4 offers WHILE IN THE TRANSFER PORTAL, And that he is probably going to get a NIL DEAL.

That's the same as those players, recruits that rated 2 stars, NAIA, Div 2, FCS offers out of HS, and then enter transfer portal, get reranked 4, 5 stars, get a NIL Deal, play at a top G5, mid level P4, etc.

Your just foolishly stuck in the past, when the Recruit, kid, got a 2.5 star rating, NAIA, Div 2, FCS offers in Highschool, instead of seeing that the player, recruit is now a man that is rerated, reranked, 4 stars, NIL Deals, like ALL the so called EXPERTS, like 247, Rivals, Verbal Commits, SI, Sports Illustrated, ATHLON, Lindy's, Phil Steele, etc, etc, etc, TYPES(Not saying any of those experts specifically, just example of the types of experts that are reranking the recruit, player in the Transfer Portal).

Mik, will you just STFU? Please, we are begging you. You tell us that a RS Freshman (injured on day 4 of his frosh year at SDSU) from BFE with 2 NAIA offers is now going to command/demand an NIL deal? Get a f-ing grip.

Oh, and yet another fantastic recruit as reported by Brand X. Kaden Beatty ditched the Kent State Golden Flashes to come to WSU. A "Tasmanian Devil" according to Brand X. Hey, hear it right from him:

"I'm relentless and my nonstop effort is what has brought me to such a top-tier program as Washington State," Beatty told CF.C. "I want the ball and I'll run sideline to sideline, or through your face to get it.
"See ball, get ball. I want to rip people's faces off and hand Coach Rogers the ball so we can go put up points."

I can't even believe that Kent State wrestled him away from all of his other prominent offers like Bucknell, Towson, Lehigh and Holy Cross. And Fordham, Penn (Quakers, not the Nittany Lions), William & Mary and Brown.

Mik, you have the right to post what you want.

I for one, enjoy your passion and support for WSU football.

Ignore the drunks who claim they speak for everyone when the reality is, they speak only for themselves after downing a blue mountain of refreshment.
