presumably over the upcoming game which basically decides our season. (ok, it doesn't but it sure feels like it... because it kind of does but not really - we're not going to the CFP come hell or high water, so best vanquish that thought)

I for one am guilty of it, so I'm going to stop sniping at my fellow Cougs over stupid sh!t we can't control and focus on the task at hand: beating the ever living crud out of the fuskies.

Go Cougs!

Kind of lucky that UW can squirrel into the divisional title with winning this game, given the season that they have had.

Win or lose , WSU will still have better North Divisional record than the Huskies. Also if Stanford would not have lost to Utah , WSU would have already clinched.

It is an unusual year that a team like UW with 2 losses in the division can control their own destiny with one win in the final game. However Stanford and Oregon in a sense enabled that by falling down as hard as they have in the standings this year and eliminating any 3-way tie scenarios.

Good call.

In all honesty, we really shouldn't be snippy with each other when we all share the same interest of WSU succeeding. Sure we have differing opinions at times, but we get snippy with each other because we are here together and it is easy and convenient to do so. Just like it is easier to argue with family or those you live with just do to the proximity. I always remind myself of the crap that I see on other team's forums about our program. If someone is deserving of snippy remarks, it is most deserving there.

I remember vehemently wanting a conference championship before we had one.

Now its just an extra game that would cement east coast bias against us should we get there and lose.

I don't like it at all--I hate the fact we will end up having to play Utah again (if we make it past Poo-Dub) and prove again what the team already proved on the field a while back. The addition of the 2 extra teams sort of forced the issue (can't really do round robin in a 12-team league and still have some non-con games), but it still bugs me that beating a team once isn't good enough.

Saw something last night on the Pac-12 network suggesting the Ewe would be undefeated right now had three plays gone its way. One was Browning's mishandling of a snap v. Auburn. Another was the missed FG in regulation v. Oregon. Forget the third one, but they're like us in that they've been in a lot of close games this season. We've won all but one of them (and that one the refs stole). Then there's how the mutts jumped all over a Stanford team (21-0) that led us 28-17 at the half.
But beyond all that, WSU has played like a bunch of pussies in the last four Apple Cups. We have been physically dominated, and that affects psyches of fans and players alike. Yet another slow start likely will be a killer. Peterson will pull out every gimmick in his bag to get up early. I'd like to see us winning in a blowout by halftime, but I'll settle for a tie score at that juncture.
WSU needs to man up in this game. Enough with being pussies on the Palouse.

Yup, tired of the uncompetitive Apple Cups.

The team needs to come out and frickin roast them.

Uh, I don't think so. It's not our divisional results, it's out league record overall. Correct? So if mutts win we are tied with 2 losses and they have the head to head. Stanford/Utah has no bearing on this.

Wait I know that is true, because win or lose we will have the best divisional record.

And how would you feel if USC was the team?

I like conference championships. It makes it totally clear who the champion is and if the south wasn’t such a dumpster fire it would be fine.

I would be fine with beating the huskeez and claiming the conference outright by virtue of the best league record. I don’t need an avenged loss to prove what the best league record already proves. Furthermore, why would SC even have an opportunity to play for the conference title with that shoddy record?

Yes this year it sort of goes without saying but other years the game should be... should be in theory against similar record programs.

I don't care if it's uncompetitive as long as we're the ones on the winning side of it. I'd be fine if we won in a blow out over those d-bags every year for the rest of my life.

Actually screwed up using Stanford. Where UW is lucky is the 2 teams that beat them -Oregon and Cal did not end up with better conference records to be in play for any potential 3 way tie scenarios. You usually do not see a team get away with 2 divisional losses and it not bite them because of tie breakers. Here it happened. Never thought about it at the time, but WSU should have become Oregon's biggest fans after they beat them.

Yeah but that’s not gonna do it for the ~65% of people on here who work with Huskies. “I know you deflowered us at our home stadium and extended your streak to 6, but we had a better divisional record!” Doesn’t have the same ring to it as Glenn Johnson booming “TOUCHDOWOWOWOWOWN COUGARS” over the PA.

Side comment: how cool is it that the Mayor of Pullman is also the Voice of the Cougs? What a great small town thing.

Your purple panties are showing. :D

Kidding, kidding. I agree completely. The last few Apple cups have been over by the 2nd quarter. Our offense needs to control this game. Score early and get everyone smelling blood in the water.

I have been there for all of them in person. I told myself that I would not go again because it was too painful and that the Cougars just didn't seem to show up. I was done going to these games. I was not going to go to another Apple Cup until they won one. Then, once they did, I would go again. I didn't make it to the very first game before changing my mind.

Yesterday, a friend text me and said lets go to the game. We bought tickets on Stubhub and will leave in the morning from here in the Seattle area. Go Cougs!!!!
