Of course they are. The Pac-4 still has a seat at the P5 table, and a merger - at least in the short term - maintains that. Every G5 conference should be interested in that.![]()

Good find M.I.
I mistakenly thought "ACC" at first with Clemson, FSU, Miami, North Carolina, Virginia, etc.
The AAC (American) would really be widespread by adding WSU, OSU and the two remaining schools in California:
Alabama-Birmingham
East Carolina
Florida Atlantic
Memphis State
USF (Tampa, not San Francisco)
UNC-Charlotte
North Texas St.
Rice
SMU
Temple
Texas-San Antonio
Tulane
Tulsa
Wichita State (no football team)
If the AAC is the answer, its time to determine whether Ol Yeller should just be put down.
I'd prefer to see a merger or partnership between the AAC & MWC. An East and West G5 Alliance. 32 teams total. Create a sizable home for programs with similar budgets.
Not sure, but we need to try and get ahead of the inevitable tier separation in collegiate sports. The Super Conference Teams will likely represent 50 or so programs. That's going to leave 70 other football programs looking for conferences.Petrol, what 32 teams would you put in that alliance/partnership?
