There’s a local radio host out of Ok-City claiming the ACC is on the verge of dismantling. He’s claiming his “ACC Sources” are suggesting 7 schools have committed to break the GOR & they need 1 more to officially break the contract.

He’s suggesting that it could happen before Fall.

He’s pretty much only one reporting it, so take that for what you want. He’s also been a typical Big12 homer and obsessed about the dissolving of Pac12 on Twitter.

We shall see……

He’s overstating - nobody has “committed,” but they’re looking for a way out.

Unfortunately, the ACC contract runs for 13 more years, or a pac 10/12 alignment might work, but if Clemson and FSU get enough money they'll leave. It is really too bad, Conferences used to represent regions, that was one of the great things about college sports, and bowl games, one region against another. If you want national coverage, watch the NBA, NFL or MLB, but we are where we are. To Quote a Cindy Lauper song, "Money changes everything."

The networks (ESPN and FOX) really screwed this up. My guess is the SEC and the BIG-10 are in a great position for now. My sense is that the other conferences will get into competitive TV time slots that will dilute the ESPN/FOX ratings, and ultimately drive their future value down.

Makes the most sense for the Pac-12 and the ACC to form a media partnership.

We know its a joke when the B12 dummies report fake news about the PAC. We shouldn't think that it is any different when they report fake news about the ACC.

The Big-12 has a serious inferiority complex. Their only strategy right now is to destabilize the landscape in attempt to get more marquee schools to join. When they don't, and when/if the Pac-12 does a deal with the ACC, the Big-12 is now in a position of inferiority to that deal.

Agree. I mean look at them. Kansas and KSU (no offense Flatland), BFE Texas Tech, Iowa State, etc.?

As opposed to our schools? (not counting BFE Pullman). As George Raveling said - Pullman isn't the end of the world, but you can see it from here. Classic.

B12 fits the profile of Bill Walton’s Truck Stop Conference.

The thing that the Big 12 has that the Pac-12 doesn't is fans and administrations that legitimately care about football success and are willing to invest in it. That said, Texas Tech and Iowa State in particular are teams that nobody cares about and have had no high level success beyond maybe one or two seasons. Texas Tech has never finished in the AP Top 10. Iowa State finished #9 in 2020...but only because of COVID. Baylor has had high level success, but they are freakin' gross and nobody wants them.

KSU is one of those teams that gets to stay in the conversation if the list of schools in the upper echelon reaches 64. If the cutoff is 48....they are a bubble team to make the cut. The Jayhawks, despite their crappy football heritage, get in because their basketball is so good.

Sadly, the only reason why the Big 12 still exists at all is because the leadership of the Pac-12 has been so terrible. The Big 12 has positioned itself as well as they can....but everyone knows that every one of their teams would bail for the B1G or SEC in a heartbeat.

The AD's of Clemson and Florida st., are in no way interested in some mythical 'deal' with the PAC. They have spoken on the record - and loudly - about their unhappiness with the money in the ACC, but that will not improve with a media arrangement with schools 2 to 3 thousand miles away in a weak conference. They want out - like UCLA and USC. They want in the SEC. At the very least, as the FSU AD stated, they want a greater share of the ACC income. At least Oregon and Washington have been relatively quiet. The ACC schools - some of them - are raising hell with their Commish. The BIG 12 is in an excellent position to move East if the ACC were to break apart, which I don't see any possibility of - yet. If they (the 7 ACC schools) get an 8th school to sign on with them - it's over. Could be the best thing for the PAC, because the Big 10 will jump all over Virginia and North Carolina over Oregon and Washington. It's not even close. The Big 12 has anything but an inferiority complex. They are not destabilizing any conference - they don't have the strength to do that - unless you believe they spooked USC and UCLA into splitting, and they are causing the 7 ACC schools into near open revolt, which is ridiculous. It is all about the money.

Agree with pretty much everything you say. This money thing is out of control. The Big 10 - tell me that Michigan and Ohio State, with their sold out 100,000 seat stadiums, can't pay the bills? Same with most of the SEC.

Next up will be the athletes becoming employees, not being required to enroll, and the effect on Title IX. In the words of the late Frank Zappa..."It's going to get funky, before it gets strange"

I agree, and it wont be long

I do not see it heading this way. Right now, the schools essentially have passed their labor costs for talent onto outside sources. Why make the kids employees and now have to pay them yourself when someone else is doing it for you?
