All Conference Players; Special Teams

A first team kicker and honorable mention punter. Have we ever had two kicking specialists as pre-season all conference before? If so, I can't remember it...and I am old...

Throw in the honorable mention kick returner....I'm thinking special teams will be very special this year.

Jason Hanson may have got both. Can’t remember much from those days.

After the season but have to assume he was preseason 1st team for his senior year at both positions.

Thanks, SD. I didn't recall Jason as a punter, but of course you are right. Still....the first time in 30 years. And we didn't have a returner who was honored in 1990. I'm pumped!

How is honorable mention determined?
Often it means the name was submitted by the coach for consideration.

Fnu, I don't know for sure. My dim memory is that the name had to be submitted by several (maybe 3?) coaches. There was then a selection made by the committee. That is really old, if it is even correct. Maybe somebody else out there knows for sure?
