Any Coug Fan That Wanted Snow....

Clear skies tomorrow too. Just a bad break. It was like missing the snow in Colorado by a week.

I’ll say it and i’ll Say it again. When we decide we don’t want to set us up to be in a difficult position in the Apple Cup is when we start to win it a lot more.

In October. On a neutral field. With normal weather and normal chance of having all our starters.

But hey let’s keep waiting to the very end of the year in blizzard temps and visibility. To play a team that has 3 times the budget and 3 times the size and depth and keep on wondering why the series is so lopsided.

It’s like we love to set ourselves up to be at a disadvantage.

Huskies wear white jerseys in a blizzard. Hard to see defenders just like the blue jerseys on smurf turf.

One program leverages advantages, and one program loves to leverage disadvatages against themselves.

We should have just kept giving the ball to Williams up the gut. Worst case scenario weather. Still.....you have to adjust your coaching and personel to the opponent and weather. We've tried running 240 lb d line against their double te sets. Just doesn't work. Frustrating game.

or a week before like the Arizona game. End of the day the mutt's were tougher and wrecked us again. Gotta' give them their due respect.
Better execution. But also tough to win when your success is 100% predicated on perfect weather conditions

We need that stadium in Ellensburg to be a dome Tron

Horrible in horrible weather. I'm not sure you design an offense for a November snow storm. We just didn't execute when it comes down to it. Slide for the first and come up short then a bad snap on 4th down. Not able to get points on the fumbled kickoff. Getting ripped by Gaskin and Ahmed in the 2nd half.

**** that

Not a bad break it's CML getting his ass handed to him 6 years in a row.

I say this with no bias:. They WERE NOT the better team. Yet the WSU pussies got OWNED by a3 Nan rush - again.
It was pretty shocking once again seeing our OL folding in a 3 Mississippi. You’d think these f—-ing guys had money on the Huskies since 2013.

That's on Grinch and his "speed D". It's going to take time to fix.

We dont need perfect conditions. 29 degrees last week didnt bother us. Bad footing and wind are tough on the air raid. Not sure Minshew has ever played on anything close to these conditions.

One thing it does illuminate is what agreat performance Falk had against Col a year ago in similar horrible conditions

One thing I love about Leach is that he is a no excuses guy. That is critical to show his guys and it rubs off on them, which has helped make us so successful as a program.

No excuses tonight. None.

Losing sucks. We don't experience it much anymore...thanks to CML.

Doesn't matter who the better team is. The match up is the worst case scenario every year. UW unlike Cal actually has the personnel to execute it on D. There's not much else there is to it. WSU has to play mistake free and UW has to play poorly. Scheme and personnel match up makes that the case. Until the personnel tilts between the two teams to the point that they can't hold our offense in check, it will always play out this way with the only real chance WSU has to win is for UW to play poorly and WSU to play a clean game from start to finish. Their offense doesn't even have to play well as we've seen for 3 years for them to still win by 2+ scores.

Stop living in 1992 & Know the Current Team!

I'll add in the script helmets to this as if they have some magical power to win the AC. I've never understood wanting/thinking snow is a good thing for a team that throws the ball 50+ times a game and is at a size disadvantage on Defense.

Terrible weather was a just a recipe for disaster going into this match-up. I too am sick of people saying we are "used to playing in the snow" blah blah. Sorry, but I haven't seen us play well in bad weather conditions in 20+ years.

UW is a run first team, terrible weather gives this a huge advantage to them.

WSU is a pass first team, and mediocre at running the ball, terrible weather is a huge disadvantage for our offense.

UW has a bigger DL, with the weather being so crummy we are forced to run the ball more, advantage UW.

WSU has the smaller DL, with the weather being so crummy, UW's OL and RB's are at a big advantage with their run oriented offense.

Take the weather out of the scenario and I'm confident that beat them. I had this terrible feeling inside me all week that the weather was going to completely hand cuff us on O, it's why I kept checking the weather conditions.

I didn’t start this thread to bash on Leach & The Program.

I love being 10-2.

Just wanted to point out the intelligence of our fans not understanding what we are.

Also, the fact that a few above posts point out the true LOSER Coug base who care about this game far more than 10-2 & the talk of college football all season.

That would be you “Bleed” & E.D. when he shows up Tonight.

At this point, I think it's gonna take Petersen leaving or major injuries to UW for us to win this game. I'm gearing up for like 8 in a row for them.

Yup...excellent talent, experience, and very good coaching are hard to overcome. We won't beat them on talent for sure.

This is as despicable as Sponge’s Game 1 vs BYU 2nd Qtr “Leach won’t get it done”.

Sad

Not if the game is in October.

I love Pullman but I hate Apple Cup weather. Unless we run power run 247 our home field advantage is non existent in late November

I was cautiously hoping that their drop off in DL production would be enough to change the dynamic this year, but it wasn't and the weather ( and our run D ) didn't help. I think there was a point in this game where if we score when we were down 5 we have a good chance to win. It would have possibly fooled them into passing more which would have given us a chance to stop them on D. Unfortunately this game for the last 15 years has almost always been a game that if UW never passed the ball one time, they would have a 99% chance of winning. Coaches can't help themselves though. You see all season with UW. They abandon the run in games they lose during season, but for some reason they remember come AC time and it's a done deal.

It's never been a good thing. I hope that myth is finally busted. In the Snow Bowl that team wanted it more. We all have heard the only mutt that kept playing hard was Brunnell.

It doesn't even upset me anymore. It's disappointing for sure, but there isn't really anything anyone can do about short of getting much better talent on the OL/DL to counter theirs. That is probably not gonna happen even with the name recognition Leach has, so we will have a chance to win this game when UW's talent on D dips to the point it needs to for us to have a 50/50 shot.

Aside from Bledsoe's fling, IIRC, that was the game Price put in the H-back and Shaumbe ran wild.

So you think UW beats West Virginia and Oklahoma this year? They run the same offense basically. I don’t. I don’t think they beat us in decent conditions. They got lucky the weather was shit. I’m a pissed as anyone but UW doesn’t have some magic air raid elixir. We will beat them.

Stealing from a call-in show caller. Why not spend the $100M or whatever it would be for this stadium in the middle of the state on a roof for us instead? Problem solved.

He doesn't have air raid elixir? We've never scored more than 17. I'd say that a-hole has it pretty well figured out.

We Just need Jimmy lake to get a head coaching job. His secondary locks us up. He leaves and that will help our chances.

We could do that but it doesn’t solve other issues like revenue disparity etc. nor does it solve the disadvantages when our thinner roster is banged up at the end of the year.

The October Apple Cup solves every single one of our disadvantages and makes an even playing field.

- game is in middle of season giving us a better opportunity to have a full two deep with injuries.

- game is in middle of season and allows us to utilize our smaller roster effectively in space as opposed to creating physical competitions with no traction/visibility with a smaller less depth roster.

- revenue is equalized every year including ancillary cutting into the revenue disparity

- no problems with thanksgiving / winter break scheduling, no dangerous road driving in the first week of October.

It solves all our problems and minimizes the things that Petersen (being smart) leverages against us.

There is no way in hell UW could beat WVA or OU . Jimmy Lake's plan with his secondary can not handle elite receivers that can break tackles. WSU has above average receivers but no one that is Crabtree type elite , not yet at least. WVA and OU both have Crabtree types. Jimmy Lake's simpleton exilisor is to keep everything in front of your safeties and once receivers catch the ball they can tackle and contain. If he does that against OU for instance and he would see those same safeties chasing Marques Brown and Cece Lamb into the end zone all game. All he would be doing is shaking his head wondering why his great game plan against the air raid is not working.
