The coaches voted for just one transfer portal period, lasting 10 days from Jan 2-Jan 12. Doesn't mean it will happen, but I do think changes will continue into the future as there are a lot of things about the portal that need to be fixed.

January and June are fine, imo.

Wanna keep kids thru the bowl? Tie their NIL deal to playing in the bowl.

These collectives need to get smarter with their deals.

The window shouldn't open until the season is over. For everyone. No transfers until after the national championship. The NFL doesn't have free agency until after the Super Bowl, college should do the same thing.

Some will argue that we have to account for the academic calendar. We don't. Academics are a distant consideration for these kids. They can still leave school in December or January - whenever their term ends - and play bowls and CFP games. Maybe it impacts their enrollment at the new school, but don't try to convince me that that matters anymore.

summer transfer makes the most sense logistically. Finish the school year and you can transfer.

They need to be able to leave after spring ball. I guess it's up to them whether they want to complete spring semester.

I mean let’s be real, when you transfer three schools in 4 years schools not really a priority. Who gives a shit about classes at this point

They are already giving millions to these kids work in an agreement where they can come back and finish credits they missed because of transferring if they aren’t in the .1% that makes a living in the NFL. What’s that, $10-40K depending on the school?

Why would a kid with choices choose the most restrictive option?
Doesn't really matter how long or when the portal is open. All the tampering will adjust and just start sooner and make firmer offers, if they want to lock up the player quickly.

Here's another idea. Do away with the portal completely. Since they will be employees now, let them do and go and talk to whoever the hell they want whenever they want. No switching schools in the middle of the season. Or game.

Aren't those the rules the rest of America follows?
