A) the AD is going to send out 100 feelers and see who might even be remotely interested. Anyone who has ties and a big mouth looking to promote themselves (Ford) is going to try to say they have the inside scoop.
B) Why would Shephard or Moore leave for a lower level G5 job that almost certainly is going to match or be less than the $1.1M or $1.2M they already make?
I honestly don't see how anyone looking for a stepping stone looks at WSU and says to themselves "yep, that's a ship I can right in spite of the shrinking budget, shit tv deal, horrible media exposure, annual raping by the portal and P4 programs, and an admin who doesn't give a shit. But yeah, I'm the man and I can fix that, and definitely for the same or less pay."
Most of these “up and comers” think they’re one step away from getting the job at Georgia or Alabama
JaMsrcus Shephard the Alabama Assist HC, Co OC, is a HELL OF A AWESOME RECRUITER, AND AWESOME OC, AWESOME ASSIST HC, IF ANYBODY CAN DO AWESOME AT WSU, HE CAN.
Also, I'm pretty sure he knows his awesome ability, and has supreme confidence.
Also the WSU Job will likely pay 1.67 million, which more then the about 1.25 mil he gets now.
Also he would be HC, and would be a stepping stone to becoming a HC at a Blue Blood later.
Also his name is BIG TIME credibility in the eyes of recruits. He will be able to recruit the TRANSFER PORTAL EXTREMELY WELL, so he will have NO PROBLEM REPLACING THOSE THAT LEAVE WSU VIA TRANSFER PORTAL, CHASING AFTER BETTER NIL.
Also he will be going up against a easier then the Old PAC 10/12 schedule.
Also he has coaching history, likes coaching in Washington State, and has coaching, recruiting connections all over state, including the Seattle, Portland, Westside areas, and CA, LA, Oakland, Orange County, Bay Area, etc.
Also the NEWSOURCE for, about this is very credible, as ATHLON is very credible, as they wouldn't be reporting this if Shephard hadn't contacted WSU, wasn't interested in WSU Job.
Shephard is interested in the WSU Job, despite your skepticism, as I will believe ATHLON over you.
I Just hope WSU is Smart enough to hire him.
As for who would replace him, when he leaves WSU, tell Kirby Moore, that when Shephard leaves, the Job is his, as Kirby Moore is a good coach, that tho not as good as Shephard, would be perfect to replace Shephard, because good chance he would stay at WSU for a long time, because of how he was born, raised, from Prosser WA, is a WSU fan, has History with WSU, etc.
Only problem with Kirby Moore, is he is not as good of a Recruiter, doesn't deal with the Portal, NIL as well, not as good of a coach as Shephard, but despite that, he is still a GOOD coach.

Athlon is getting their information from Tracy Ford, who I am sure has information but as always is overselling it. Again, just because someone asked "IF WSU offered would you listen" doesn't mean a) he's being offered or b) that he's interested.

Ian Furness is CITED. And NOWHERE is Tracy Ford cited.
And Furness is cited as DIRECTLY saying, reported, that JaMarcus Shephard, and Kirby Moore IS DIRECTLY INTERESTED in WSU Job, and that THEY CONTACTED WSU DIRECTLY.
WSU did NOT contact them. WSU did NOT approach, offer them.
They approached, contacted, expressed interest in WSU Job, not the other way around like you said.
Like I said, ATHLON AND FURNESS BOTH ARE MORE CREDIBLE, MORE BELIEVABLE then you, and I'm going to believe them, more then you.
Unless you can show proof, cited a source, link a source, etc, that shows that it was Tracy Ford, specifically as Furness's source, that's the only way I would believe you, that it's Tracy Ford, as the source.
They are interested in the WSU Job. They are applying, trying to get a interview, trying to get the Job, and want the WSU Job.
That said, I dont think WSU will hire them, or I think WSU will LOWBALL them, insult, offend them, blow it, etc, as WSU leadership is TOO STUPID to successfully hire them like they should.
