Beauchamp article

Daejon Davis or Michael Flowers. Thoughts on who turns out to be the better player, or who helps his team the most, or any way someone wants to interpret best, valuable, etc.
Ok. I will take the bait. I’m going with Flowers. I think Davis is a very good all around player. He is more of a glue guy without any particular skill that stands out... I think it’s why he never really got a foot hold at Stanford... Flowers, in my opinion has that nack for scoring and distributing the basketball that will have a greater impact on the game.. The big question is can he do it against better competition..He may get off to a bit of a slow start, but by mid season, I see him as a difference maker..

Can somebody please post the Hickman to GU article?
I have seen people post he's a GU lock and a UW lock. I haven't seen an article but his father apparently came out yesterday and said he's still in the decision process. I have to say other than proximity picking UW over much of the rest of his list would be strange. Of course stranger things have happened.

I might have jumped the gun on firming Hickman to GU yesterday, but a GU guy named Caldwell on Twitter (I've learned some things through reddit reading) seems to be dropping hints he's going to GU and from what I've gathered, that guy is engrained into the program so deep, I'd be surprised if he's wrong. So the classic, where there's smoke, there's fire thinking can apply here.

There was enough out there that seems like GU is at minimum the favorite. The Caldwell guy used to post on the GU Spokesman site. The brandx GU mod was hinting in the same direction.

Yup, where there's smoke.

I will say this Hickman is a program changer. I have been watching him play since he was in the 4th or 5th grade. He will be one of the best in the country. If he goes to UW he will radically alter their progress towards being more then respectable. It would keep Gonzaga at the top of the heep for another year or 2. His signing will be a big deal and could likely set in motion a pipeline for a bevy of Seattle talent to attend the school he chooses...

As I've read on reddit, most GU fans expect him to backup Nembhard...felt like GU fell apart when he ran the show last year, will be interesting to watch. I really don't see Hickman going to UW, but I could be totally off base - just my gut talking there.

Is Oregon in the hunt? If he wants to stay in the NW they seem like they’d have a seat at the table.

Nembhard looked like a deer in headlights against BU. Surprising since he had some SEC experience.

You could pretty much say that about the whole team except for Suggs. They have a couple of one and dones coming in next year. Don't think it's going to work for them in the long run. Upper class leadership is worth a ton. Hasn't really worked that well at either Kentucky or Duke. It's not long before you end up with freshmen and sophomores with no guidance.

Agree, Suggs was really the only player that seemed to respond.

I'm interested to see what happens for them next year. It is a bit of a new world going heavier to one-and-done over multiple years. With Holmgren no question a huge talent but he's maybe skinnier/smaller than Cowgill? I'm interested to see how that plays out as a freshman. Also can someone give them what Suggs was able to do?

I'm not a Zag fan but I do think they are intriguing.

I saw somewhere (can't remember who or where) someone said that Sallis might be better than Suggs. In any case GU has a huge recruiting class with the #1 and #7 recruits in the country.

Good grief, better then Suggs..I wonder exactly what that means? Suggs grabs me as the type of player who has so much more to offer then what he showed in college. I believe he sacrificed some numbers and showcasing his abilities for the benefit of the team. I really didn’t see much he couldn’t do & he is politely what I would refer to as a dog. Meaning he has the extra confidence and moxie against anybody.. He showed that against Baylor.. Sometimes I feel as though flashiness may be considered when evaluating which players are better. I will be very interested to see If this is true.. Anything is possible, but that means Sallis is one hell of a player day 1... If this is true I would be very perplexed as to why Hickman would go there... 🤔

Also I wouldnt mind if Smith encouraged Rapp to transfer for the possibility of Marjon Qualifying, and walking on as a preferred walk on, IF Smith is hardcore ABSOLUTLY sure that Marjon is, was 1000%, ABSOLUTLY commited, and was PROBABLE to Qualify(By talking to Marjon's YVCC teachers, fellow students, family, Dean, etc), transfer, walk on, and get Rapp's scholly later after Marjon Walked On.

Anybody else no. But Rapp yes, because Rapp is only better then the 6ft 9 in Walk On, and MAYBE better then Rosario(For Now(By the time Rosario is a Senior, he is gona be A LOT better then Rapp ever will, would, could be), and maybe better then Rice.
Will you stop picking on Rapp as the guy who "needs to transfer"? He's a good player and Smith is going to want to keep him.

I'm sure balancing the roster is a consideration, so if someone has to go....it's more likely to NOT be a guard, which leads me to believe Vova or Rosario are more apt to be the ones. I also wouldn't be surprised to see AJ return to Europe and go pro. Wish we could keep them all, but there aren't enough scholarships and playing time to satisfy everyone.

Glad Cougar

You know the staff has a plan or they wouldn’t be extending these offers. AJ to Europe seems possible. Hope the other casualty isn’t someone like Rodman who will be a contributor but he feels his minutes will be decreasing.

Itvprobably wont be Rodman, as Rodman STARTED at the 3 Spot last year. PRODUCED out of the 3 Spot starting role. He will start at the 3 spot to begin the season, then Kim, and Rodman will probably Platoon, situational, rotational atart, at the 3 spot.

There is nobody at the 3 spot BETTER then Rodman, KIM, AJ(But AJ is more of a 4, and he will probably not start at 3, and probably be #1 back up at 3 behind Rodman, Kim.

Top Candidates for transfering:

Rapp: He can play the 1,2,3 spots. Tho he is BORDERLINE TECHNICALLY SAME AS, ALMOST BETTER then a couole, few, some, tgose couple, few some like Rosario, Bamba, etc, have a HIGHER UPSIDE, POTENTIAL, CELING, RATING, STARS, ETC, AND WILL BE WAY THE HECK BETTER THEN RAPP IN THE FUTURE.

I know Rapp is liked, but liking him is not a reason for him to stay.

Somebody needs to go to make room, and that somebody should be Rapp, as he is at, near the bottom of team, and will only get about 8 to 10 to 12 to 14 to 16 minutea per game.

Other Candidates:

Bamba: Would not like to see him go, but there is a LOG JAM of 6,7,8 at the 3 Spot.

Rosario, same as with Bamba.

AJ, same as with Rosario, Bamba, except that can find time at the 4, except that the 4 spot is semi log jammed.

Maybe someone is doing a move to Walk-on status. Sure woundn't surprise me.

If Rapp plays 14 minutes a game that would mean he is a significant contributor. I don’t see Rosario getting close to that many minutes. Bamba only averaged 13 minutes a game last year and I would say he was an important part of the team.
Also AJ was the starting three most of last year with Efe at the four and Jackson at the five. AJ hit the freshmen wall Rodman started down the stretch but I hope/ expect AJ to have a more consistent season and really come into his own. Aiken can’t shoot or drive well enough to play the three on a regular basis.
