He said that at the time he had some people in his ear and things going on in his personal life that made consider leaving Seattle... then he said he spent a couple months "finding himself" and realized that it was a mistake to leave UW out of the running. Everything about his current situation points to him coming to UW.

Did I think UW was going to score 70 on Oregon? no. Did I predict they would? no. Did I think it was far and away our best chance to beat Oregon in years and we were going to beat them by a lot? yes.
But we actually had a reason to think we'd crush Oregon in 2016. They were shitty, Kelly was gone, they were struggling hard, and we were really good.

There is no chance WSU drops 40 on UW. You realize different teams match up better against different teams right? UW's style is a total mismatch for WSU. Plus Lake and Petersen have owned Leach and Co... just like Kelly owned UW... and I'll freely admit that.

Yeah, if the right pieces come together, Pete probably thinks he can win a National Championship at UW. He started by getting the system in place and there were a couple struggle years, now they've either finished sole 1st or tied for 1st in the Pac 12 the last 3 seasons... no reason to believe the trajectory won't trend up so long as he recruits the way he wants to and the program is in place to be successful.

Based on history, WSU has hung wild points on a lot of teams but has had no answer for UW under Petersen and Lake.

Considering he's spent the last 26 years coaching programs in the Northwest, loves Seattle to death, loves coaching UW. Yeah, until the NFL comes callin' I don't see him uprooting his life to go do it all over again at some program like USC, that he already turned down.
