The 9 are:

Memphis, Tulane, USF, UNLV, UTSA, Texas St, Rice, UNT, Nevada.

So 1 of those 9, will be the 8th Pac 12 football team, according to what sources have told Canzano.

Wow - he's really going out on a limb with this prediction. I'll join him on the limb - the Cougs will win between 1 and 9 games this year. You read it here first. :)

As to the list, the only one that makes me not want to throw up is UNLV. Nevada? maybe just in my mouth if they follow UNLV.

Memphis/Tulane/USF. Too f-ing far, travel costs will outweigh any marginal benefit they bring. The Texas 4? Whatever.

For those non-believers that think any of these scenarios other than UNLV and Nevada are somehow better than the reverse merger in terms of our stature, then you are delusional. It can still happen. The Alaska Air Pac-X, 16 FB Schools, 18 BB schools. Best of the G5 by far.

Mountain West is now watered down even more and there's potential travel to Hawaii, El Paso TX, and Illinois. That ship has sailed. Even with the bumpy ride to get to 8 for football going that route was always down the list of optimal outcomes IMO.

Travel to Hawaii. Oh the horror. Illinois? one FB trip every 2-3 years? More horror. Looked at our 2025 FB travel schedule lately?

I see that 1 future MW team (GCU) made the Big Dance, plus soon to be left behind NM, and 3 soon to be MW traitors. SDSU, CSU and Utah State. Horrible. But the Pac-2 teams both made it. Oh wait they didn't.

GCU and SDSU did make the now money-earning Women's tournament. OSU did manage to get in there.

UNLV makes the most sense. They are in a decent TV market. Have NFL and NHL. MLB is on the way and NBA not far out. Having a solid Vegas college team makes sense.

If Pac 12 take Nevada as 8th football team, then they should have merged instead. Only reason not to merge is to NOT TAKE, END UP WITH NEVADA, HAWAI, NEW MEXICO, any of the bottom 4 bottom dwellers.

If take Nevada, it's going to piss BSU off, as the reason they left MWC was to not be in a conference with Nevada or any of the bottom dweller bottom 4.

So HELL NO to Nevada. And BSU, also says, is saying, going to say HELL NO to Nevada.
Which means since UNLV and Nevada tied together, then UNLV is not a option. Plus UNLV is not gona leave MWC anyway to join Pac 12.

Memphis, Tulane, USF, as good as they would be for Pac 12, they won't join Pac 12, or it would cost too much.

So that means it's really down to Texas St, Rice, UNT.

UNLV won't leave the MWC to join the Pac 12. And even if they would, they would only do so if Nevada came with them.

HELL NO TO NEVADA. ALSO ECHOED BY BSU.

It’s not the where, it’s the cost to get the where. A Hawaii trip cost a lot to play programs that typically aren’t the best especially for non-football.

It wasn’t a good idea when you wanted it originally and it’s a worse deal now.

GCU & NM would have dropped the MW for the new Pac if offered.
