Cougs Need to Run the Ball more...

Under Tom Osborne at Nebraska, they would run dive until the defense stopped it. Then they'd take the option down the line of scrimmage.

WSU has what might be the best guard in the history of the program on the roster right now. If they don't run the ball behind a kid who is legitimately the size of Goliath, who are they gonna be able to run behind?

This is a contract year for Goliath. Play well this year, get a big NFL check. Run the ball behind him until the defense shows they can stop it. Then throw it over the top of them. If they can't stop the run, score 100.

Three great running backs, but with wide split, pass protection specific OLs? To run the ball well you need kids who have quick feet and can sustain blocks. We might add a few wrinkles this year, run 5% more, but Leach isn't a fool. He finally has an OL that isn't a pass protection mess, he isn't going to ask them to do more than their skill set permits.

There are some you might run the ball against. Nevada....dead last in run defense last year, Nevada, Cal, Oregon State, Oregon (if they haven't improved), Arizona, Montana State and Boise State (69th in the nation). Run the ball down their throat and milk it til see the ribs and then pass (maybe in the second half. Dumping passes to their backs and a host of run plays should wear them down and save your QB's arm the latter half of the season. Don't worry about Falk wanting to toss it all the time or stay in the game through 3 quarters....He gets to utilize his arm enough in practice and doesn't need to get jacked up by Montana State.
