Don't get it ....

I agree but he wants to compete in the SEC, he got what he wanted and I wish him the best.

He looks out of place.

They would have named the stadium after him if he retired from here.

Feels like mike price all over again

The truth as i see it is that leach took the WSU because the pay was good and other schools did not want to hire him, He did very well but was always looking for a way out. He liked the Bible Belt country and culture and felt more at home there, He did his job well and deserves a big promotion as he sees it. He is kinda returning to his roots and will retire there unless they run him off.

Yes and no. Not a bad comparison but MSU is no bama. If leach stays out of strip joints he should be alright

i actually see the hire as leach finishing his career the same way he started it. He’s one of the few coaches to rebuild win and succeed at underdog outposts for his whole career. Lubbock. Pullman. And now Starkville. Always facing bigger richer programs but still competing and winning

it’s strange not many other coaches I can think of have the same kind of careers. Starkville won’t be any different than Lubbock or Pullman in a sense

Price quit before a Rose Bowl, sac religious if you will. I could never let that go. Leach quit after the season and bowl game was over, the proper way to go out.

That’s only bc he could land the Ole Miss or Arkansas jobs.

Except playing Bama, LSU and Auburn, plus Texas A and M vs OSU, Cal, Stanford.

I’m not sure what you mean here. Whitman county is as about as red state as it gets—outside of Pullman. I imagine Mississippi is the same—outside of Starkville. I don’t see any cultural, political, or religious difference of any significance.

He's angry about Leach's politics and looking for any excuse to bag on him.

Meanwhile, the rest of us are talking about football. It's like Thanksgiving Dinner with Uncle "Bush knocked down the towers" Comanche.

Ever drive through Missouri? The whole state is a highway system with alternating "attention truckers - you can jack off here" vs "repent or go to hell" billboards to mark off the miles. Same when I lived in GA.
Florida too

excuse me?
Excuse you indeed

I've been to both, and they are very, very different.

So have I. I grew up in SC and GA until I was 14. Further, I’ve visited AL on several occasions, as one of my best friends was stationed at Maxwell on two different occasions where I visited. And I’ve been to LA three times with a good friend of mine who grew up there (outside of Lafayette) for short hunting trips. Also, I have a co-worker who’s parents moved to NW AL to retire after apparently inheriting some family plantation.

i can tell you that the only significant differences are a) the SE is strongly and fiercely Protestant, b) the pace of life is slower and more deliberate (though anywhere rural is slower than urban, but the SE seems intentionally so), and c) they are far more frank and plain spoken. But the general conservative, rural, leave-me-alone attitude is the same. I now life in N ID still quit a bit south of Pullman, and it is the same vibe here as in Whitman, Grant, Lincoln, or any other E WA county. Locals in any rural area in WA or ID would get along just fine with any of the locals from any rural SE state. I do and I have.

Angry about leach s politics? no just an observation. No I did spend about one year during my graduate days working the school systems in Whitman County. I know well what attitudes were and are still probably are One thing about a self contained city like Pullman is that you are virtually isolated and student life is great without any of the social problems which are a part of everyday life in the USA, Leach s politics are only a concern to people who are consumed with college football. They are a pleasant diversion to my everyday life.

I couldn't disagree more. I spent 10 years in Seattle and 15 years in San Francisco. I will take my 20 acres in North Carolina, you can have the unbearable traffic, high taxes, crime, homeless problems, rude people and effed up politics of the West Coast.
Yeah because Seattle and San Fran are the only 2 places to live west of the Miss

I was simply comparing where I have lived in the past to where I live now. I have lived in WA, OR and CA. After living in the Raleigh/Durham area for the past 5 years, there is no way in hell I would ever move back to the West Coast. I love living in the South....come by and visit anytime.

I lived in several places in the south during the 70s. Even back then, North Carolina was in no way similar to Mississippi. Now, NC is very much more like Virginia than it is like Mississippi. All were part of the old confederacy but Mississippi still hasn’t given up and moved on. At least they hadn’t in 1975. Matter of fact, I think Mississippi State was the last major University to integrate their football team. Happened around 1970 and Mississippi whites were still pretty steamed about it in 1975. Pretty sure they didn’t do it out of a sense of fairness. They just wanted to win more football games and get the feds off their back.

I think the westcoast, from SD all the way up to BC, has the best scenery in North America.

But to add to the prices and other issues, I just spent almost 2 weeks back home in Seattle over the holidays. Haven't lived there in 10 years. It was dark, wet, gray, dreary, damp and raining for - I'm not kidding - maybe all but 5 or 6 hours. Absolutely miserable. I kept checking the weather back in CO and it was freezing but at least clear and sunny every day. Don't know if I could go back unless I did central WA, or you gave me a blank check to pick out a lifestyle in western WA

I am not comparing NC to Miss. Simply responding to someone who said the South Sucks. Due to the influx of people fleeing liberal states in the NE....and bringing their left wing politics with them..yeah some parts of NC are similar to VA. My little slice of paradise just North of Durham is quiet, conservative and free of crime. I haven't heard a siren in 5 years, no heroin addicts passed out on my front lawn, and all my neighbors are friendly and have my back. For what I paid for my 3000 square foot home, 4 stall barn, in ground pool and 10 acres of fenced pasture land, I would have got 2 walls and half a toilet in San Francisco. My daily 17 mile commute into Durham takes me 30 minutes and I pay 5 bucks a day to park. Don't even getting me ranting about the favorable property taxes. Life sure does suck.

Agree with you regarding the scenery. I really enjoyed my time in Tahoe, Big Sur, Napa, Yosemite, Cascade and Olympic Mountains etc. To each their own, I was glad to trade in the concrete and steel of the big city for peace and solitude of country living.

Should have driven over to North Central WA

Oh stop it...you know you love me. Glad we were able to meet while I was in Berkeley for the Coug beat down. Love what you have done with your cardboard box in the local BART station. That MAGA hat I brought looked good on that fuzzy lil head of yours. Don't know how to say this but you smelled really foul...I would suggest you try bathing in 2020.

Hugs and Kisses.

NC has an income tax though. There’s always something. Since most folks buy homes on conventional mortgages, I think property taxes are generally “priced in” when it comes to real estate acquisitions. I own 2 rental homes but rents are generally higher bc it’s more expensive to buy w/property taxes, so I figure I come out pretty even on that exchange.
Although WA has also floated an income tax too (which Gates just announced he’s in favor of) which would really suck! At that point I may be looking for a new state to reside in.

can't do it. The humidity alone is too much.

Same in all respects, including my experience over the holidays.

Miss St is the best possible fit in that league for Leach. We'll see how he does against Saban's defenses. I wish him luck, but after this year I can't say I'm that upset about it. Just hope Chun nails the hire.

You will be after another lost decade because we chose to cheap out and get the books better instead of progressing. Chun football hire that has been good? None. Hope for the best, our the next couple years are a bust after out players that have talent hit the portal. So bummed.
