Fork in the road

If you took the time to understand what is going on rather than expend energy trying to defend the brand, you’d know that it was for solicitation of prostitution with a minor.

The prostitution part is illegal in most of the country and it’s particularly disturbing for a 40 year old supposed man of principle trying to tap some 17 year old ass.

His own party in Minnesota has turned on him. Quit being such a pro-Trump wanker that you’ll overlook anything to protect the brand.
If you took time to read my followup post, I did look into it further and stated that the charge was solicitation of a minor.

And WTF are you talking about - "defending the brand" and being a "pro-Trump wanker"? First of all, I hate Trump and all his ilk, voted against him 3 times and have made no secret of my Trump hate on this board. He and Musk are destroying my country. So how does that make me a "pro-Trump wanker"? You are not even barking up the wrong tree, you are in the wrong forest.

Second, explain to me how a commentary on a Minnesota state senator has anything to do with Trump other than his wacko TDS legislation? I guess there is the fact that this 40-17-year-old age gap is less than Trump and Melania's. But I digress.

Wait....a 32 year difference is not gross, but 40 and 17 - only 23 years - is gross? Not sure I understand what your thresholds are.

To me, it's not necessarily about the numerical age - it's more about life experience and what point in life you are. The typical person about 22-23 doesn't really have any life experience. They're barely done being a kid, and haven't found a place in the world. They probably aren't a good match for anyone who's over 40 and is looking at the back half. 59 and 27 is different life stages, 72 and 24 is very different life stages...but in both cases everyone's legally an adult, so...whatever. 40 and 17 is different life stages, and one of them is a child. I don't really care what age of consent is, that's just not right. It may not be illegal, but it's not right.
I guess the threshold is maturity. There’s a lot of maturing that generally takes place between 17 and 24. I have a 17 year old daughter…she’s all over the place. And if some 40 year old dude is trying to get into her pants he better be anonymous or dads gonna make a punching bag out of him. When she’s 24 she can make her own decisions. Couple years out of college if she wants to find a sugar daddy what am I gonna do about it? I wouldn’t be thrilled with it but you’re an adult you can make your own decisions. If I’m bills age and the GOAT, I wouldnt chase 24 year olds but with a bad divorce in the review mirror I’d have no problem with a smoking hot lady in her 40s.

Sorry to piss you off and I obviously was thinking of others.

That said, there is no positive spin to a 40 year old dude getting busted for soliciting paid sex from a 17 year old.

Frankly, getting busted for soliciting prostitution from a gal of any age should be an automatic fail for any 40 year old married guy with four kids.

I do apologize for the rest of my comment though.

This is the math I’m familiar with and works pretty well IMO.
My wife is 7 years younger than me. My youngest daughter was 6 when we first met.

One day my future wife teased about being a senior in high school when she was in the fifth grade.

To which my daughter said “Ewww, dad, that’s gross”

So, yes, the math eventually does work.

Age/2 + 7 is fairly solid when it comes to what constitutes cradle robbing.

Fun stuff here. I kind of like the 1/2 age plus 7 rule of thumb. So this Minnesota guy fails that test, so does Leavitt's husband. Perverts. Although to be fair I violated that rule once a few years back with a young GF. But her mother did approve of it. So I was golden. :)

Flat - no worries. And for the record I approve of the firebombings of Tesla plants. I'm sure Musk would acknowledge that this is how they do it in South Africa where he came from. Look forward to his deportation after he pisses Trump off. I would think Canada is revoking his citizenship up there, so back to South Africa with him.

Observe - your daughter sounds like mine. Sounds like her disgust when I was leering at some of the moms of my granddaughters' playmates. I do try to adhere to her mandate that I don't date anyone younger than her. I did clear that benchmark with the afore-mentioned young GF. Barely.

You seriously approve of firebombing Tesla plants or dealers? All because of political differences of someone close to Trump? Now THAT is some serious TDS in action!

Apparently if that kind of action is justified, the attack on Paul Pelosi is justified because of not liking Nancy's politics. And bombing defense contractors plants would be okay if you are a peacenik? Okay to bomb the WA Post because of not liking Bezos?

And don't forget, if you say it that any kind of violence like this is acceptable, then to be consistent you would have to admit that it would be acceptable to attack the capital on January 6th. And that would all be pretty stupid. Any damage or intentional attacks and damage should not be allowed.

To the TDS crowd, forcing an American company, the global leader in its industry, into bankruptcy is great for “Are Democracy” and is quite patriotic.

Deportation flights WILL continue.

Bondi it seems, doesn’t believe inferior judges have Executive Authority over the Executive elected to serve the position.

Judges don’t have executive authority, they have judicial authority. And any federal judge is supposed to be able to interpret law and issue injunctions that the executive branch is obligated to follow - including the president. Their ruling can get reversed by a higher court, but until that happens…it’s a valid order. The executive doesn’t get to decide what orders have “lawful basis,” that’s the job of the courts. There’s also not a hierarchy of which judges the executive has to listen to.

This is a system that has worked for almost 250 years, now being twisted based on little more than ego, and it’s a dangerous path. You have to wonder, exactly which judges do the Trump people believe that they do have to listen to?

We had a functioning immigration system including deportation for the same time period less four years.
