As much as people cried about Bud being replaced Chazanow is really good at his job. He has a great voice, asks clear questions, and gets the job done. I like Bud, but I'm glad we have moved away from hiring people just because we like them, and are hiring people because they are good at what they do.

Feels like an upgrade.

I like Bud the person, but I have never cared for Bud the play-by-play man in football or basketball.
Bud had a tough act to follow in Bob but I just never cared for Bud's as the voice of the coug's either.

I have been impressed with Chazanow.

Bud's ceiling should have always been announcing Cougar baseball, Volleyball, Women's soccer games.

Really enjoying all of the practice interviews so far this year. Would like to see some more footage of the actual practice. Or, does Leach forbid that?

Regarding the video interviews from the last couple days, has anyone else picked up on some of the player comments regarding new attitudes and less dissension in the locker room this year etc? Was there a division between players or serious morale issues with some of the senior class that was mostly kept under wraps from last season? Maybe it's just me but the "everyone is totally on-board this year.." comments are little unexpected.

I haven't seen the video interviews… Would love for you to link them, if possible. But I'll be honest, I'm not surprised. I think the example of how I knew some of this stuff was still going on was when Darryl Monroe left. Don't know if he was a "dissenter" or not but it made me realize there was still "stuff" going on. The kid that was truly upstanding, bright, was taken on Media Day's last year? Wow. And I think part of it is the competition. Young bucks coming in and performing at a higher level that the older boys. I wouldn't be surprised if it still wasn't going on, a little bit NOW. I'd wager, another 2 years before that crap will be totally, 100% purged.

Monroe was unhappy he got benched. Halliday was prone to throwing tantrums. Tracy Clark wasn't happy about being passed over. The attitude is better because more people that fit the temperament that Leach likes are now the leaders than the bridge players. Falk is a calm leader. Much much calmer than Halliday. It starts at the top and resonates down.

Once you start to win and get to bowl games those still not totally on board will go away or quietly disappear.

I've been impressed with Chaz from the bit I've heard. Sounds well prepared, even in interviews.

It's clear the vision of IMG and WSU was to have an on-campus broadcaster to help support various forms of multi-media. I like it. It makes sense.

I thought Bud was decent in hoops. Good energy. He had no analyst, so he had to provide all the color.

Football was not Bud's strong suit. He tried to be play by play and commentator and then hand it over to Gess. Seemed like a control freak in the booth...wanted to talk to much.

Bob Robertson, all around good guy, that I actually ran into a few weeks ago. He's hobbling around quite a bit now. He said he really hopes we make it to a bowl because he doesn't have too more seasons to see (w/ his sense of humor).

I don't recall anyone 'crying' over Bud being replaced due to the quality of his football broadcast.

There were other issues with the communication of the non-renewal of contract but that has nothing to do with Bud's replacement. Though invariably people always want to play the compare game with a predecessor, which has pretty much been the lifeblood of Cougar message boards for the last 12 years.
