I think he earned the right to say what he said.

A smart move would be to package him up with a draft pick and trade him (Foles). There’s enough crappy teams in the league that are still 2-3 years away and need draft picks and/or a bridge QB (Maybe Chargers if Rivers retires?) Houston was able to move Osweiler and $17 mill a year this way. Foles is a sunk cost for Jax they’d be foolish to keep him...GM is their QB, need to build around him.
He is the rookie contract guy teams are looking for. If they keep Foles cause of the cap hit, GM will get them good draft picks if they move him.
I'll be astonished if they dumped Gardner and kept Foles. Their fanbase will revolt.
Unless they can find someone who’s willing to give high picks for Foles, I don’t think they’ll move him before June. The cap impact is too high. A summer or pre-season trade - maybe bundled with 2021 picks - is a little more economical.

I agree. Plus, I don’t think any team is going to give them much for GM at this point.
The only reason you trade GM is to avoid any possibility of a QB controversy...and if you trade him, you create a different kind of QB controversy. You gain nothing in contract/cap value. It’s just doubling down on Foles and betting than he’s the future of the franchise.
That would be idiotic.
There isnt a good choice. Everything hurts. If you move either of them you hope to get a big timer in return.

Jags fans love Minshew, but I kind of hope he can move on to a better OL or a 20-year superstar career could end in by end of next season (not saying he is a superstar yet, just saying you might never know).
How many Browns top 3 round QBs from the last 20 years are out of the league now because their star faded under dysfunctional, toxic coaching, ownership and OL? Never had a chance to stay healthy and generate interest from other teams.

Jax is stuck with a lot of dead money with Foles and nothing to show for it. Rock/hard place. Other teams surely know this and any offers for Foles will be cheap if at all. Rather suspect that their best move is to trade Foles while eating as little of his contract as possible. Flatland is right in that the local fanbase would be outraged. The Jags fanbase was increasingly apathetic prior to Gardner's arrival and his performance brought some energy to them. Letting Minshew go would be outright stupid at this point.
Frankly, I hope and expect that he will stay. He seems happy there and the fans love him. I do hope that they will invest in their O-line in order to keep him healthy. Perhaps the turnover in their front office will be able to achieve this. The players seem convinced that the current coaching staff is on the right track. The front office seems to have been the problem.

The Jags might get more out of a trade for Minshew than for Foles. Starting caliber QB on a rookie contract. Someone will give away future draft picks.
Lots of hype and hope for current CFB QBs but not one of them is proven in the NFL. Seems like there ought to be at least one NFL team needing a reliable QB that can see a bargain right in front of them.
Not sure I see anyone giving up more than a 3rd rounder for either of them at this point. Foles because he hasn’t shown he’s worth the money, Minshew because he just doesn’t have enough on his resume.
The QBs on the top 3 teams all look like they have a future. They seem to have the measureables and the field vision to be pros. I don't understand why Herbert and Eason are graded out higher by anyone. Watch Burrow handle a pass rush vs either of those two.
Herbert and Eason have done nothing to show me they are first rounders. Herbert finally won some games this year. Eason was average at best. Neither of these guys lit the league on fire like we have seen from past kids that were big timers.
Both of them are a reach.
