Hurricane Helene Game Thread

Why is FEMA blocking rescue efforts?

Why is FEMA seizing food, water, medicine, generators, Starlinks from volunteers?

Why are volunteers being threatened with Arrest for helping their neighbors?

If this is true, the motives would appear that Biden/Harris don't want the optics to be their are weak and not doing their jobs.

Getting votes is more important than helping victims of a disaster. Not going to end well.

Oh Gawd please don't go down Uber's rabbit hole again. Here are the facts - and note that while the links say "MSN", the actual reports come from other news agencies - not from random freaks on X:

FEMA spent their entire budget already.

Kids are dying to know why.

( see video interviews from Mayorkis yesterday. His data, his speech.)

There is a reason why X is the #1 download for news apps, globally.

"FEMA also noted that a rumor spread by Fox News and others that the agency is only offering $750 to disaster-impacted residents is not true. That amount is provided quickly to individuals to help pay for immediate needs, but they remain eligible for temporary housing and significantly more money for home repair and other costs"
OK dumbass, so just fvucking ignore The Border Czar’s LIVE speech.

Got it.

Is there nothing you won’t defend?

Kids are dying, Loyal, while you breathlessly await your next instructions. Pathetic human being.

Whoever wrote this needs to check with the boss.

Mayorkis says he’s broke
Uber, you and the truth have a less than amicable relationship. Read on (from the AP). Doesn't sound like Speaker Mike Johnson has any intention of calling Congress back in before the election to shore up FEMA funding. Congress is who provides such funding, in case you were wondering. But carry on with your BS.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency can meet immediate needs but does not have enough funding to make it through the hurricane season, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told reporters Wednesday.

Mayorkas was not specific about how much additional money the agency may need, but his remarks on Air Force One underscored concerns voiced by President Joe Biden and some lawmakers earlier this week that Congress may need to pass a supplemental spending bill this fall to help states with recovery efforts.
“We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have. We are expecting another hurricane hitting,” Mayorkas said. “FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season.”

Congress recently replenished a key source of FEMA’s response efforts, providing $20 billion for the agency’s disaster relief fund as part of a short-term government spending bill to fund the government through Dec. 20. The bill also gave FEMA flexibility to draw on the money more quickly as needed.

Both chambers of Congress are scheduled, however, to be in their home states and districts until after the election, as lawmakers focus on campaigning.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., gave no hint he was considering changing that schedule during a speech Tuesday. He said that Congress just provided FEMA with the funds it needs to respond and that lawmakers would make sure those resources are appropriately allocated.
A bipartisan group of Senators from affected states wrote their leadership this week saying it’s clear Congress must act to meet constituents’ needs. They said that may even require Congress to come back in October, ahead of the election.

More than 150,000 households have registered for assistance with FEMA, and that number is expected to rise rapidly in the coming days, said Frank Matranga, an agency representative.

In other news you can trust, Covid did not escape from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. A pangolin and a turtle had a one night stand and bang, new virus.

In ten days they'll get the $750.

Might want to check in with the residents of Lahaina for their views on FEMA and support for their community.

Double post of this link on two threads so it doesn't get overlooked.

The pic of the empty shelves is proof that aid went to the hurricane victims? That was probably taken after they shipped all the supplies to the border. FEMA is not telling the truth because they think they only answer to the geriatric in office. They have botched this thing just like they've effed everything else up.

REality is that, in spite of getting practice annually, FEMA has never learned how to quickly and effectively respond to a major, regional disaster. Just about every chance they get for the last 30 years, they screw it up. Hurricanes are the most common example, and you don't have to look back very far to see the pattern of bungling. Katrina, Maria, and now Helene (although the facts are still coming in about this one). They were also completely incapable of responding to the pandemic (as was every other facet of government and the administrative structure of healthcare).

They do OK in support of more localized disasters like wildfires and tornadoes, but anything that hits a region and crosses state lines is a complete fiasco. A big reason for that is that the big incidents get politicized and turned into budget and media moments, so there are political appointees making decisions instead of the actual emergency management people that actually know how things need to be done. Mayorkas should have zero to do with the response, other than making sure than Deanne Criswell and her crews have all the money and resources they need.

Governors, presidents, and candidates should never visit disaster sites - they are useless and counterproductive, and take resources away from the response. They should instead spend their time in their offices, diverting whatever discretionary funds they can find into supporting cleanup and recovery.

Ok, my last post on this stupid thread. Meanwhile nothing WSU related, football or otherwise, garners any conversation.

So, Uber. Your pal Elon says FEMA "won't let others help". Yet in your post #10, it says:
- Almost all help is being done by private citizens, mainly churches.
- Private helicopters are flying in the vast majority of the supplies.

And yes that same post accuses FEMA of interfering and seizing supplies, etc. Because that's what some pastor in NC said. FEMA is also probably dining on dogs and cats too after seizing them from the hurricane victims.

Also, your pal Elon says that FEMA won't let these private relief helicopters land. How are they doing that? Do FEMA personnel carry around ground to air missiles? Anti-aircraft batteries? Machine guns? Are there battalions of bloodthirsty FEMA employees guarding every possible location that a helicopter might land, armed with all these deterrent weapons?

Same junior high stuff. He very well may have told Kamala to f off... just not in this clip. Google Jon Stewart telling Dick Cheney to F off for his endorsement of Kamala. Same suit, same tie, just telling Dick cheney to f off for his endorsement with Kamala in the background .

Had to come back once more with this link. Again from the AP. Republican elected officials join the call to stop the lies and BS, among other things. FAA calls BS on Elon's claims, MTG sez Dem's can control the weather.

North Carolina state Sen. Kevin Corbin, a Republican who urged his constituents not to give into hoaxes.
“Friends can I ask a small favor?" Corbin posted Thursday on Facebook. “Will you all help STOP this conspiracy theory junk that is floating all over Facebook and the internet...

Meanwhile, Trump did Trump:
“They’re being treated very badly in the Republican areas,” Trump told Fox News, ignoring reports and photo and video evidence of recovery efforts underway throughout the region. “They’re not getting water, they’re not getting anything.”

You know, one thing these conspiracy freaks forget (yes I'm talking to you too Uber), is that we are talking about fellow American citizens trying to do their jobs. Big bad FEMA is not some shadowy monster. It is our neighbors and maybe even friends doing the best they can. Maybe they are f-ing some things up. But this notion of hundreds or thousands of evil people in FEMA coats swarming around inflicting misery on their fellow Americans is just such crap. All of course under the direct, hands-on direction of our Vice President.

Facts are tricky little things ain’t they?

“loyal”

you really should take your grievances up with the people making the claims and providing the video.

People like Elon Musk for instance.

I make very few claims .

I typically post timely news topics being discussed by who has 200,000,000 followers, employs some of the most brilliant people who have ever walked the earth and also brings interesting viewpoints and facts for educated, critically thinking adults to discuss.

Take note:

Oh, Joe lonsdale said they’re lying, he sounds credible so it must be true.

You’re essentially educating yourself with memes while claiming critical thinking skills—the fact is a person with literally seconds on their hands can do a quick search and get to the bottom of things, but you’re either too lazy, too stupid, or both, you’d rather prop up Ketamine Elon’s numbers in lieu of factual validity.

Go ahead and waste your time writing a scathing rebuttal for me to not read, I’ve got no time to read tripe from dolts.

Why do keep drawing this moth to the flame? It appears that the person "providing the video" on this board and this thread is, well, YOU. So I suppose I need to take up my grievances with, well, YOU Uber.

And your man crush Elon is bringing "facts"? That is rich. Republican lawmakers and mayors in the hurricane zone are publicly asking people to stop the hate and lies and false rumors, and every reputable news network is calling 100% BS on EVERY stupid lie. Yet here you are. 18 posts and counting quoting random freaks on X.

Here's some more "fake" news for your reading pleasure. Note the lengthy fact check article from that shadowy left-wing fake news outlet - the Charlotte, NC Observer:

My personal favorite from our friend MTG:

"Rumors that the government created the storm were fueled by U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s tweet late Thursday that “Yes they can control the weather. It’s ridiculous for anyone to lie and say it can’t be done.”"
